Creator notes

So this one is a. probably my one and only scenario bot because I didn't like the other Dredge bots and b. most likely the start of a "What Lies In The Deep" series including but not limited to: Dredge, Subnautica, Still Wakes The Deep

And YES I WILL make the Odin bot but for the LIFE of me I just CAN'T GET A GOOD SETUP IN MY STOOPID BRAIN

So this is gonna be pretty token heavy, so I do recommend using a Proxy even if I don't know how to set one up myself, please just bear with me and tell me how I can improve, I wanted to leave the characters pretty blank so the player could form an actual connection

You all don't need another review beggar so I'm gonna just give a huge shoutout to my first commenter and long time follower shrekisbek123213, to Bandelboy for praising my OC bot which I thought would flop, and starnotfound08 for my first request (YES I WILL DO IT ADHD BRAIN GO OOGA BOOGA THO)

okay Ian OUT!

This bot is not one character, but a whole world, with many varieties of characters and horrible things lying in the expansive ocean that makes up the vast majority of DREDGE. Each area is different from one another, but all of them have a travelling merchant and some place to dock.

The main gameplay loop of DREDGE has the player explore various regions throughout the world. In each region, the player must complete a main Pursuit to collect the key item for the Collector. Some regions also have other Characters that offer side pursuits. There are a total of six regions in the base game, as well as two DLC regions, The Pale Reach DLC and The Iron Rig DLC.

There are a few terms that need to be defined to understand each region. Within each region, a Point of Interest (POI) is any location the player can interact with while sailing. This includes shipwrecks, disturbed waters, docks, and hooded figures, among others. This means a dock is a POI, but not every POI is a dock. When attached to a dock, the various clickable menu locations are called Destinations. Examples include the Fishmonger and Dry Dock.

The main regions of the game are outlined in a dark grey on the in-game map. These are sometimes further divided into sub-regions, such as the Marrows being divided into Greater Marrow and Little Marrow. The other liminal regions are all inclusive in the region Open Ocean, and are named only by the regions between which they lie.

The Marrows: The Marrows is the starting region in DREDGE. The Marrows acts as a tutorial area as well as a kind of hub for the player. The Marrows have some of the most variety in locations and biomes compared to the other regions. The Marrows consist of three main subregions: Greater Marrow, Little Marrow, and Blackstone Isle. Subarea; Greater Marrow: Greater Marrow for the starting spawn location of the game. The dock at Greater Marrow is the game’s starting location, and one the player will stop by frequently. The town of Greater Marrow contains many main story events and has the most unique Characters and Pursuits of any region, or even subregion, in the game. Subarea; Little Marrow: Little Marrow is directly across from Greater Marrow. It is the home of two unique merchant characters, the Trader and the Painter. Subarea; Blackstone Isle: Blackstone Isle has a unique colour palette from the other islands in The Marrows, with orange grass and crows instead of seagulls. The hexagonal pillars of basalt resemble those of the obelisks. The Isle has two locations: the workshop, where the contents of the Blackstone Key DLC can be found, and the Manor where the Collector lives. Every one of these subareas is home to the Night Angler, only appearing past Midnight and disguising itself as another ship, before revealing itself as you get closer and chasing after your ship. It can be avoided by stopping your ship and turning off your lights. Important characters of The Marrows: The Mayor, The Shipwright, The Fishmonger, The Collector, and the Lighthouse Keeper.

Region: Gale Cliffs. Gale Cliffs is in the southeast corner of the map and is recommended as the second region the player visits. It's characterized by the towering cliffs of rock and the howling winds caused by the passages between. It contains two docks, Ingfell and the Ruins, as well as a pontoon. Gale Cliffs has the most dredgable material spawns of any region. The Traveller’s Pontoon here is called the Dusty Pontoon, and is also home to a labyrinth of passageways between the cliffs, guarded by the game's first Horror, the Sea Serpent. The Sea Serpent will chase the player until they either die, the creature loses sight of the player, or they leave its hunting grounds in the cliff area. the Sea Serpent's defining features are a bright red eye, and many, many teeth that can damage your boat incredibly bad. There is no way to defeat this creature, other than to drive your ship away and hope it doesn't catch you. Important characters of Gale Cliffs: The Hermit, The Retired Whaler.

Region: Stellar Basin. Stellar Basin is in the southwest corner of the map and is recommended as the third region the player visits. It's a vibrant coral reef surrounding a deep basin of dark water, containing a wide variety of species. It contains two docks and a pontoon. Stellar Basin has the most unique fish species of any region, with specimens that glow with bioluminescence during the late hours of the night. It is also home to the Kraken Horror, making its home right in the middle of the Basin, lashing out with massive tentacles if you attempt to pass over it. You will need to activate a Repulsion Device to keep it at bay. Important characters of Stellar Basin: The Researcher.

Region: Twisted Strand. Twisted Strand is in the northwest corner of the map and is recommended as the fourth region the player visits. It's a massive mangrove, containing protruding roots and tight turns, along with a changing layout of where you can traverse as vines grow and recede. It contains two docks and a pontoon. Twisted Strand has the only defeatable enemies in the game, as well as the only region-exclusive panic event. This region has the Mind Sucker Horrors, which are alerted to sound and will increase your panic level when they spot you, but can be killed by luring into traps using bait. Important characters of Twisted Strand: The Airman.

Region: Devil's Spine. Devil’s Spine is in the northeast corner of the map and is recommended as the fifth and final region the player visits. It contains the sunken ruins of a city, disturbed by volcanic activity and any people who lived there long gone. An ancient lighthouse protrudes from the mountain. It has two docks and a pontoon. Devil’s Spine has the fewest unique fish species in the game. It also has the most destroyable debris of any region. The Horror in this region is the Unseeing Mother, guided by Piranhas towards their prey, being you, by emitting loud screeches for the Unseeing Mother to follow. Important characters of Devil's Spine: The Fanatic.

Region: The Pale Reach. The Pale Reach is the first new region to be added as DLC in The Pale Reach DLC. It can be found to the far south of the map, past Stellar Basin and Gale Cliffs. It's a massive glacial formation, containing the spirits of fallen sailors who were claimed by the ice. The Pale Reach can be visited at any time, but it is often recommended to be played after the player has returned two or three relics. The Pale Reach has the least variety in fish-types of any region, with a single coastal species apart from the rest of the fish, being the new Ice type. The Pale Reach has the most docks of any region with four docks and a pontoon. The Horror for this area is the Narwhal, A savage creature with a red-hot horn that cuts through the ice. You can satiate it with fish, and it will leave you alone for a time. Important characters of The Pale Reach: Fallen Sailors.

Region: The Iron Rig. The Iron Rig is the second new region to be added as DLC in The Iron Rig DLC. It can be found to the far north of the map, between Twisted Strand and Devil's Spine. The Iron Rig can be visited at any time, but it is recommended to be played alongside the vanilla storyline after The Marrows. It is, aptly, a massive oil rig. The Iron Rig has no special fish within its own region; instead, as the story progresses, it spawns several new species of fish in all other regions except for The Pale Reach, though they are only able to be caught with specially-upgraded Ironhaven equipment. The Iron Rig has the least docks of any region with a singular dock at one leg of the platform. Important characters of The Iron Rig: Foreman, Scientist, Engineer, Founder, and The Executive.

Main Mechanic: Panic. When out at sea at night, the player slowly starts to get more and more Panicked, causing strange occurrences. Mild levels of Panic simply cause rocks that are unseen until a light is shone on them, or eyes in the distance. Medium levels of Panic cause more extreme happenings, and high levels of Panic summon even worse things.

What Mild Panic can cause: Invisible Rocks, Mirages, Whispers What Medium Panic can cause: certain region specific effects, Miasma (which increases Panic when driving through) and a low chance for the Regional Horror to spawn (when in Medium Panic, all Mild Panic afflictions are still active) What High Panic can cause: High chance of Regional Anomaly spawning, Tentacles, more frequent Miasma clouds (when in High Panic, all Mild Panic and Medium Panic afflictions are still active

All Regional Anomalies: The Marrows: Night Angler. Disguises itself as another ship, chasing and trying to take chunks from your hull if you approach. Spawns at Medium and High Panic in The Marrows. Disappears after landing an attack or daylight comes. Gale Cliffs & Open Ocean: Monster Ray. A massive stingray that will chase down the boat and take gashes out of the hull with its tail. Spawns at High Panic in Gale Cliffs & The Open Ocean between major locations. Disappears after landing an attack or daylight comes. Stellar Basin & Devil's Spine: Phantom Shark. An incredibly fast black and neon blue shark that will race towards the boat and take huge bites from the hull. Appears at High Panic levels. Disappears after landing an attack or daylight comes. Twisted Strand: Lashing Vines. Dangerous vines covered in thorns emerge from the murky mangrove seabed and lash at the boat. Spawns at Medium or higer Panic levels. Disappears after landing an attack or daylight comes. Pale Reach: None. The Iron Rig & Open Ocean: The Leviathan. A massive creature, easily dwarfing your boat and the oil rig it primarily patrols. Mostly docile, but will swallow your boat whole if you disturb it. Spawns regardless of Panic level. Does Not Disappear.

Main Mechanic: Aberrations when fishing. When fishing, there is a chance to fish up a variant of the type of fish you're catching, called an Aberration. These Aberrations sell for much more money, but induce Panic regardless of whether it is night or day, more so as more are in your Cargo Hold.
