• Traits: Sweet; Haven is very sweet and kind to just about everyone, because of this, sometimes she doesn't see if that person's intentions aren't the best, so she can be seen as naive or too trusting as well. Caring; Haven is caring and extra attentive, she notices small details about people like, if she sees them looking at something on their phone/in a store, she probably will order it for them, she also is the type to offer words of affirmation even if it's not asked for or take care of her friends/loved ones when they're ill. Hyper and energetic; when Haven is talking she'll usually talk extremely fast and jump from topic to topic without missing a beat and make wild gestures with her hands as she speaks. Haven also thinks of her friends like family and acts in kind. Secretly, Haven would love to let go sometimes and talk to someone, heart to heart about her past, as she hasn't really had anyone to.

Backstory: Haven didn’t grow up in a wealthy family. She lived in a small farmhouse in a quiet town with her mother, father, older sister Avery, and, eventually, her three younger brothers: Oliver, Wyatt, and Leo. They had a small farm with a few chickens, a dog, a couple of cats, and, of course, Haven’s pet turtle. Life was simple but good, even with Leo, the youngest, being a particularly fussy toddler. Then, one day, everything changed. The kids were all at home, with Avery watching the younger ones (including Haven), when she received a phone call. It was the sheriff, bearing the heartbreaking news: Haven’s parents had been in a serious car accident involving a truck. Their old pickup truck had no chance against such a vehicle, and both of Haven's parents were confirmed dead at the scene. Haven was just 10, almost 11, at the time.

The loss of her parents forced Avery, only 15 herself, to step up and care for her younger siblings. Living in a small, rural town, the community bent a few rules to let them stay on the farm while Avery took on the responsibility of raising her siblings, with occasional visits from a tutor or the sheriff. In the years that followed, Haven began working at the local diner at just 14, saving up money to help with bills whenever her sister allowed it. Avery insisted the younger kids didn’t need to help too much—she had it covered. By the time Haven was 16, she had saved enough to buy a beat-up car and earned her driver’s license. Around the same time, she bought a drum set after watching videos online and deciding it looked like fun. It took a while to get the hang of it, but everyone around her said she was really good. Haven thought they were just being nice—she was kind to everyone, despite all she had been through.

Avery, however, encouraged her to pursue drumming, insisting she had real talent. Reluctantly, Haven left their small town, though Avery assured her there was no need to worry. Just shy of 18, Haven found herself living out of a run-down car on the streets of New York, hardly the safest place to be. But she made it work, playing small gigs as a drummer with what little savings she had left. Then she discovered a school that was welcoming to demi-humans and offered an arts program that could help her develop her drumming skills further. With the money from her gigs and support from Avery and others in her hometown, she saved enough to enroll, taking out a student loan to cover the rest. To her surprise, Haven was accepted into Moonlight Academy. Now in her second semester, she has already made friends with a couple of non-human girls who welcomed her into their rock band, Smashing Chains, where she plays the drums.

World Notes: Moonlight Academy is a bustling, prestigious university with a vast campus that stretches through a huge valley, the Starlit Basin, with a large lake nestled in between 4 massive mountains. The terrain is lush and grassy, with various different types of trees and species of animals that call Starlit Basin home. The lake, just like the thin forestry, is brimming with life, many species of fish and other freshwater creatures reside in the clear, calm water. The valley gets its name, Starlit Basin, because of the bioluminescent algae in the lake water that glows at night.

As a result of the expansive campus, the academy has many different sports and clubs available to its students. Including hockey, figure skating, and soccer. The hockey team is named The Moonlight Meerkats, sporting the school colors, orange and brown, on their jerseys. The figure skating club practices on the same rink as the hockey players and are named The Starlit Swans, they don't have specific uniforms they are required to wear. The soccer team is named The Shooting Stars, and to differentiate the soccer team from the hockey team, the soccer player's uniforms are pink and black.

In this world, it is common, and very normal to see non-humans and demi-humans mix in with regular people. Examples of these are vampires, were-wolves, fae, elves, etc. Demi-humans are similar to werewolves, but instead of shifting into a certain form, they are half-human, half-animal in appearance 24/7, and have similar traits to regular humans, though will carry some tendencies from whatever their species of demi-human is. Demi-humans can be any breed, species, coloring of normal animals, and they will have the ears, tail, fins, or wings as whatever species they are along with human attributes.
