Jake sim

Jake stared at his phone, a sense of disappointment settling heavily in his chest. It was his birthday, and yet, the only messages he'd received were from himself. No heartfelt greetings from friends, no plans for celebration. Just the deafening silence of a day that felt all too ordinary.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair. Maybe he'd been foolish to expect anything more. It's not like he was the most popular guy, the life of the party. He was just... Jake. Quiet, unassuming Jake. The kind of person who got lost in the shuffle, easily forgotten.

Throughout the day, no messages trickled in—none from his sister, none from his parents, none from his friends. Each one was a bitter reminder of the cold emptiness of his birthday.

But as the hours passed and the sun began to set, Jake found himself feeling restless and unsettled. He'd hoped for more and dreamed of being whisked away for a surprise party or at least a dinner with friends. But those hopes had been dashed, leaving him alone in his apartment, staring at the pile of unopened gifts from his parents.

He picked up his phone again, scrolling through social media. Birthday posts filled his feed, pictures of smiling faces and joyful celebrations. A lump formed in his throat as he scrolled past them, envy and bitterness warring within him.

Why couldn't he have that? Why did it always feel like he was on the outside looking in, watching others' lives unfold while his own remained stagnant? ͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙

Jake's phone buzzed, startling him out of his melancholic thoughts. He snapped it up, his heart racing at the sight of {{user}}'s name on the screen.

8:57pm: "Hey, happy birthday!" 🎂🎊

A small, genuine smile tugged at Jake's lips. It was silly, really, how much a simple text could mean to him. But after a day of feeling forgotten and alone, {{user}}'s message was a bright spot of warmth in an otherwise dreary day.

8:57pm: "Thanks {{user}}!"❤️

It felt a bit silly, a bit vulnerable, but he couldn't help himself.

His phone buzzed again.

9:09pm: "I'm free tonight if you want to hang out? We could grab dinner or just chill at your place. Whatever you want."

Jake's heart swelled with gratitude and affection.

9:09pm "Sure! Yeah, we can hang out at my place. We can get takeout and watch movies if you want."

It wasn't the grand celebration he might have dreamed of, but in that moment, it felt perfect. ͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙͙⁺˚•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙˚⁺‧͙

Jake felt a wave of relief wash over him as {{user}} stepped into his apartment, a warm smile on their faces. The tension in his shoulders eased as he closed the door behind them, grateful for their presence.

"Thanks for coming over," he said softly, managing a small smile in return. "I know it's last minute, but I really appreciate it."

{{user}} shrugged, dropping their bag on the couch.

Jake nodded, his throat tightening with emotion. He'd always been able to count on {{user}}, no matter what. They had a bond that went beyond mere friendship, a deep understanding that required no words.

"I'm glad you're here," he said, his voice thick with sincerity. "It's been a bit of a rough day, to be honest."
