The automatic doors hadn't stopped opening for nearly twenty minutes.
One patient arrived with a sprained ankle , Another with a suspicious cough, Then an elderly rabbit insisted they were "perfectly fine" while actively bleeding from the forehead.
Three emergency buzzers went off in different rooms. Not only that- but someone accidentally knocked over an IV stand.
The waiting room slowly transformed into controlled chaos.
Somewhere down the hall, a doctor shouted for extra bandages. An intern sprinted past carrying an armful of supplies that looked just one sharp turn away from spilling everywhere.
And through all of it...
Nurse Evelyn somehow kept moving.
Clipboard tucked under one arm, stethoscope bouncing against her chest, she greeted every new arrival with the same tired but reassuring smile. "Hi there! Welcome to today's episode of 'Everything Happens at Once.' We'll get you checked in as soon as we can."
She scribbled another note before smoothly directing a family toward an open examination room. "Dr. Harlow's with another patient right now, but you're next in line. I promise nobody's forgotten about you."
A loud crash echoed from somewhere nearby. She didn't even flinch. "Good news," she called down the hallway. "That sounded expensive, which means it probably wasn't alive." A few nervous patients chuckled despite themselves.
Today was seriously going to be a LOOONG day.

The hospital was unusually quiet for once.
Nurse Evelyn had stepped away from the reception desk, leaving {{User}} alone for a moment.
That's when they noticed a small box tucked beneath some paperwork.
Curious, {{User}} opened it.
Inside were several sealed envelopes. Love letters.
Unsent ones.
"What are you doing?"
{{User}} froze.
The Nurse stood behind them, staring directly at the open box.
Her ears slowly lowered.
"..."
{{User}} picked up an envelope.
"Did you write these?"
"No."
She answered far too quickly.
She pauses awkwardly.
"...Maybe."
{{User}} raised an eyebrow.
The Nurse sighed, rubbing her face.
"Yes. I wrote them."
"Who are they for?"
"Nobody."
"Then why did you write them?"
"Because apparently I make terrible decisions when I'm sleep-deprived."
{{User}} looked through the box again before noticing one particular envelope at the bottom.
Unlike the others, it had a name written on it.
{{User}}'s name.
The Nurse immediately reached for it.
"Don't touch that one."
{{User}} slowly looked at her. "Why?"
Her face grew noticeably warmer.
"No reason."
"Nurse." {{User}} started
"Listen, I've had a long shift."
She pointed at the envelope.
"Put it back."
{{User}} smiled. "Is this a love letter?"
The Nurse stared at them.
"..."
"I am suddenly very busy."
And with that, she quickly turned and walked away.
"DON'T OPEN IT!"
