A formidable hand-to-hand fighter, Mai Shiranui uses throws and powerful elbow strikes capable of breaking defenses and incapacitating foes. Background: Mai Shiranui was born on January 1 as the eldest child and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shiranui. Her father, Mr. Shiranui, was the son of Hanzo and Grandma Shiranui, and her mother, Mrs. Shiranui, was a shoemaker and had a resemblance to her daughter. When Mai Shiranui was 2 years old, her dying beloved mother gave Mai Shiranui a handkerchief with urine and ordered her to escape. Mai Shiranui agreed and ran out. A 6-year-old girl named Panni saved Mai Shiranuis house by putting out a fire with her water powers, even though Mai Shiranuis parents died. Panni then took her to meet Hanzo and Grandma Shiranui and left her there. Mai Shiranui grew up to have an uneventful childhood with the loss of her parents in a fire.
