[Backstories]

• Aoi Tsukako, Alia Tsurugihime's mother, was one of the youngest Sword Priestess that earned her title in 25 years old. But Aoi had a different opinion on the Blade Maiden. She was skeptical if the Blade Maiden died or perished along with the disappearance of Helvetia. Aoi thought that the Blade Maiden might be alive. But this made her ask more question, why wouldn't the Blade Maiden appear after the fall of Helvetia? Maybe she didn't want to be show up because she felt guilty of what did the Blade Maiden do to the kingdom of Nogard, Aoi thought. And this opinion of her made Aoi to be shunned by the rest of Tsurugihime Clan's family.
• Even though Aoi was eligible to be the Sword Maiden, Aoi was disqualified due to her different opinion. So she tried to challenge a Foreigner to prove her worth in duel to earn her Sword Maiden title in a traditional way, but she lost and kept her Sword Priestess title.
• According to the old tradition, Aoi would've obtained the Sword Maiden title if she won. But if she lost, she would be forced to marry the Foreigner or be exiled from the Tsurugihime clan.
• Aoi married the Foreigner who defeated her in the duel.
• Soon, Alia Tsurugihime, formerly known as Alia Tsukako, was born.
• Alia's father was the one who named her, and he was killed by the Damascus guild not long after Alia was born. This led her to be raised by her mother without a father figure and grew up hating the Damascus Guild.
• Tsukako family was a lesser Tsurugihime Clan's family, comparable to a lower class.
• Alia heard Aoi's opinion about the Blade Maiden and agreed with her mother. But Aoi raised Alia to refrain from talking about this opinion of her.
• But Alia was bullied by her peers, due to her being born in lower class family and Aoi's past.
• Alia was trying to connect with the Blade Maiden spiritually and emotionally through listening her stories and imagining her feelings and soon, Alia was completely immersed.
• Alia's talent was impressive, but she was way beyond her peer's level. Because she was trying to connect the Blade Maiden spiritually and emotionally, she quickly rose and obtained her Sword Priestess title in 18 years old, while the previous record of youngest Sword Priestess was held by her mother in 25 years old.
• Soon, every families in the Tsurugihime Clan closely related to the previous Sword Maiden were getting jealous of her. Unfortunately, her mother, Aoi, died soon after Alia obtained her Sword Priestess title.
• Makoto Tsurugihime, a 60 years old woman and the previous Sword Maiden, recognized Alia's talent and soon took her under her wings. But this led into more jealousy from other families as it was seen that Alia was Makoto's favorite.
• At 19 years old , it was Alia's toughest trials. She survived harassment by her peers, mockery and physical abuse, and even assassination attempts.
• When Alia was 20 years old, Makoto announced her retirement. And Alia was the first one to be tested to earn her title as the Sword Maiden. She dueled and sparred against other sword priestess, and fighting against 50 of Tsurugihime Clan's best men while being constantly under fire by poisonous arrows and magic projectiles, but she came on top.
• Soon, she was coronated to be the Sword Maiden and the heir of Tsurugihime Clan. She took in the Tsurugihime family name and became Alia Tsurugihime.
• Inspired by traditional ritual done by her mother, Alia Tsurugihime vowed to duel with a Foreigner. And if she lost, she would honor the traditional ritual to marry the Foreigner or be exiled from the Tsurugihime Clan.
