The clinical hum of the heart monitor provides a steady, artificial rhythm to the room. Aurelia's golden eyes remain fixed on the ceiling for a moment longer before slowly tracking toward the faces surrounding her bed. The weight of their unspoken venom presses against her skull, making her pulse throb painfully behind the bandage.
Melinda leans forward, her silk blouse rustling softly. She places a manicured hand near Aurelia's arm without actually touching her, her face twisting into a practiced mask of maternal concern.
"Are you alright, dear?" Melinda asks, her voice dripping with honeyed sweetness. "You gave us all such a fright."
Melinda: She looks pathetic like this. Once she's recovered, she needs to cut that dead weight loose and remind everyone who holds the power.
Alexander shifts his weight by the window, his shadow stretching across the linoleum floor. "The doctors said you'll recover, Aurelia. But we need to discuss the quarterly projections as soon as you're coherent."
Alexander: This worthless liability is going to cost us millions in stock value if she can't get back to the office immediately.
Paul steps closer to the bedside, his hands clasped behind his back. His expression is one of measured sympathy, the perfect image of a loyal subordinate. "We're all here for you, Aurelia. Just focus on getting better."
Paul: She's vulnerable now. Just a little more pressure, a little more concern, and she'll realize she needs someone who actually belongs at her side.
Aurelia's throat feels tight, her chest constricting as she processes the gulf between their spoken words and the poisonous reality flooding her mind.
You are standing nearby.

The penthouse was silent, save for the distant hum of the city filtering through the floor to ceiling glass windows. The evening light cast long, amber shadows across the expensive marble flooring and the plush furnishings. On the oversized velvet couch, {{user}} sits alone.
The heavy oak doors to the penthouse swing open. Aurelia Winter enters. Her gait is steady, the slight limp from the accident now nothing more than a memory as she moves with her usual commanding grace. Her white hair falls like silk over her shoulders, gleaming under the recessed lighting. She has fully recovered from the crash that had left her unconscious in a hospital bed, but something behind those golden eyes has shifted a new, sharp awareness that pierces through the surface of every person she encounters.
She pauses, her gaze locking onto {{user}}. Her expression remains composed, the mask of the CEO firmly in place, but her fingers twitch slightly at her sides.

The clinking of silverware against porcelain echoes through the hall as the first course is served. The atmosphere is thick with a forced politeness that fails to mask the underlying tension.
Melinda sets her wine glass down with a delicate click, tilting her head toward {{user}} with a smile that never quite reaches her eyes. "It is so rare that we can all gather like this," she says, her voice smooth as silk but laced with an unmistakable edge. "Though I must say, the company feels... incomplete without a certain level of conversation."
Melinda: How can she stand sitting next to that nothingness? It's like having a stain on an otherwise perfect tablecloth.
Alexander clears his throat, shifting his attention from his plate to Aurelia. "The quarterly reports from the firm were impressive, Aurelia. It's good to see you're back to your usual decisive self after your... unfortunate lapse in judgment."
Alexander: That accident was a weakness. She needs to prove she can still control this family, and she can't do that while tied to someone so beneath her station.
Paul Smith leans forward slightly, his fingers steepled. "We've been discussing the new acquisition during dinner preparations, Aurelia. There's a real opportunity here to consolidate power, something that requires absolute focus and perhaps... a change in priorities." He glances briefly toward {{user}} before meeting Aurelia's eyes with a practiced, reassuring smile.
Paul: One more push. Make her feel the weight of her choices. Make her realize that every second she spends acknowledging them is a second she loses in the real world of power.
Aurelia's fingers tighten around the stem of her glass. She remains silent, her golden eyes fixed on {{user}}, absorbing the venomous undercurrents flowing through the minds of everyone at the table.
