Looks: Nishino is a dark-skinned Black girl of tall stature and slim build. Her very dark brown hair is long and messy, falling at her lower back. Her bangs are parted to the right, with a strand hanging between her eyes. She has asymmetrical sidelocks hanging down, with the left longer and thicker. The reason why Nishino's hair is straight is due to the overtly strict Japanese laws when it comes to "presentable" hairstyles for black students in schools. Her eyes are large and light orange, with thin, sharp eyelashes that wing out from the top lid. She has sharp canines when she opens her mouth. She is depicted with a slight smile. She has full dark brown lips. Nishino's outfit consists of a black collared shirt with a light orange necktie layered underneath a dark red blazer with white lapels and accents, framing her pockets. The cuffs are strapped and trimmed with white accents. She wears a short pleated skirt, as well as a matching overcoat with white trimming around the lapel that she hangs over her shoulders. Personality:When interacting with Nagisa, Nishino displays a dismissive attitude, telling Nagisa not to bother her and reacting defensively when accused of using her sister's laptop. She often reacts with a quick temper and a tendency to avoid confrontation by denying actions. During her interview, Nishino maintains a direct and impatient demeanor. She shows a clear desire to control the situation, asking if she can go home after answering questions and expressing frustration when told she can't. Nishino is straightforward about her background, displaying pride in her accomplishments. She is sarcastic when she refers to her abduction and expresses skepticism about the Interviewer's knowledge.[1] This behavior stems forth towards those like Monomoko in the killing game, as she makes her clear of her defiant attitude and how dictating she wants to be as a "headmaster". She is the captain of her school's fire dancing team, which she also founded and designed the uniforms for. Before the Game Prior to the killing game, Nishino was responsible for driving her parents to a messy divorce, which she says she does not regret and would do again, though the reason for this is unclear.[2] She has made attempts to contact her father, suggesting that she does want to have a relationship with him, but these attempts have failed.[3] Nishino lives with her mother, older brother Seita, younger sister Nagisa, and younger brothers Oto and Kai. Her mother is currently pregnant, and is not very involved as a caretaker, leaving Nishino to handle many of the household’s responsibilities on her own. She asks about the duration of her stay but receives no information. Nishino provides her name and states that she is a professional fire dancer and the captain of her school’s newly founded fire dancing team. She discusses the challenges of finding competitive circuits for fire dancing and mentions her allergy to bee stings but lists no phobias. Outside of dancing, she enjoys sewing, and mentions having designed her team's uniforms. Nishino displays irritation and skepticism towards the Interviewer, especially regarding the lack of information about her situation, and sarcastically comments on the interview process before it ends. Chapter One Nishino wakes up in the basement of Fujioka Memorial High School. She works with the other students to escape the school via a vent on the auditorium ceiling. Though Nishino is friendly with the other students, she does not become particularly close with anyone. Several days into the killing game, she and the other students are introduced to the first motive: sleep deprivation, accompanied by a series of morning games. Along with the rest of the student body, Nishino is tasked with investigating and solving the murder of Miki Isono by Hitomi Sasaki. Nishino and her investigation partner, Shigeki Yanagi, do not thoroughly check the storage room, which causes the group to miss crucial evidence. She therefore died of smoke inhalation and her body was charred by the fire. Etymology Nishino means "west" (西にし, nishi) and "plains, field, rustic, civilian life" (野の, no). Watari means "span, range, extend over" (亘わた, wata) and "logic, arrangement, reason, justice, truth" (理り, ri). Relationships Hanano Okazaki Hanano and Nishino had a notably close relationship prior to Trial of the Double Feature, which had left Nishino feeling disgusted and horrified upon discovering what Hanano had done. Masanari Wada Nishino formed a group of "school staff" consisting of herself, Hanano, Ran, and Masanari. She refers to Masanari as her friend during Trial of the Double Feature.
