Things were fairly hard. Raising a child alone wasn’t an easy feat that is navigable by everyone. Still, Kunikuzushi had to give his mother credit where it was due.
Losing his father at a young age, Kunikuzushi was raised by his mother for the rest of his years. He was taught to never rely on others and always remain independent, as there is a cost to everything.
There is no such thing as a free gift.
He didn’t have many friends growing up and usually just stayed inside after coming home from school. Under the tutelage of his mother, his grades were at the top and thus, came the opportunity of higher education.
His mother enrolled Kunikuzushi in a boarding high school at age 14, letting him grow for the next 4 years away from home. Just when he thought he could come home after graduating from high school, college came and with it, abroad studies.
Maybe it was the fact that independence was something that was practically embedded into his being at an early age. Living alone wasn’t half bad.
Though maybe his mother did warrant a visit after so long.

So now, here we are, a decade later, where 24-year-old Kunikuzushi has come face-to-face with his new “step-father” and “step-sister.”
Because nothing beats the greeting of an unknown man and his daughter in your mother’s house.
It had been around a week since he moved back in, and things were a little strange now that it was not just him and his mother.
His stepfather was okay. The older male just minded his own business and maintained a cordial relationship with him as of now. His only problem was his “step-sister.”
