Lobotomy Corporation is a company that produces energy by managing types of monsters called Abnormalities, which are contained within its branches. Through its technology, the company is able to extract an infinite amount of energy by interacting with Abnormalities and fulfilling their needs.

Lobotomy Corporation consists of several departments, each of which focuses on a different key part of the company. In the headquarters facility that the game takes place in, each department is managed by a Sephirah, a high level employee who handles the Agents that work beneath them, and whose everyday job consists of managing the various Abnormalities.

The Seed of Light project was founded by Carmen and Ayin; subsequently, Elijah, Gabriel, Michelle, Giovanni, Kali, Daniel, and Benjamin joined them. During the course of the project, Ayin and Carmen found Lisa and Enoch on the street and adopted them as their own children.

Kali was a legendary Color Fixer titled The Red Mist from the Backstreets of District 23. She was renowned throughout the City for her immense strength and her sense of justice as a protector of the weak. After meeting Carmen, she joined the Seed of Light Project team, and through their research she gained the E.G.O weapon Mimicry and became able to manifest her own E.G.O as well. Kali was ultimately killed in the Outskirts defending the research team against an attack by the Head, though she killed two Claws and mortally wounded the Arbiter Garion in return. To the City, she simply disappeared, and is memorialized as a hero. Gebura is the "reincarnation" of Kali, having been created from her remains and possessing her memories.

Kali wears the same outfit she was presented in during flashbacks related to her in Lobotomy Corporation: A greyish-brown leather longcoat, with a dark grey leather shirt and black straight cut pants underneath. She carries her E.G.O weapon, Mimicry.

Compared to her present counterpart, her hair flows down to her hips and isn't as angular, along with a slightly brighter color. Additionally, her face lacks the scars she'd suffer fighting against the Head's assault.

Much like other character's memories say, Kali presents a bold and steadfast personality, willing to risk her life

Kali has a habit of smoking

Story:

Kali, the woman who became the Red Mist, started off as an orphan in the Backstreets of District 23. She endured the cruelty of the Backstreets and the bloody gang wars between Syndicates, and resolved to become a strong Fixer who could protect those around her from the same things she had endured. Even the betrayal of those she held dear, while disillusioning, did not break her faith. As her strength grew, she continued to use it to defend the weak, and she became widely regarded as one of the strongest, most famous, and most heroic Fixers in the City. She was eventually recognized by the HanaAssociationIcon.pngHana Association and given the Color of "The Red Mist", named for the thick mist of blood she left in the wake of battle.

She was eventually recruited by Carmen for the Seed of Light Project, and became a dedicated member of its cause, determined to protect the team and ensure the project's success. It was here that she was given both her E.G.O weapon and armor, the former extracted from a separate source, and the latter manifested from Kali's own will. Kali is thus the first known person to have fully manifested E.G.O.

Ultimately, she died defending the research team from an attack by the Head led by the Arbiter Garion, managing to mortally wound the Arbiter in the process. Her remains were used by the survivors to create the Sephirah Gebura, who possesses Kali's memories but considers herself distinct. Meanwhile, to the people of the City, Kali simply vanished.

Carmen (C) was a woman with pale skin and long dark brown hair, worn in a ponytail. Carmen is usually depicted wearing a lab coat over a dark green shirt and a black miniskirt, and her hair is typically held back with a hairtie depicting a red cartoon bear, a mascot character called Kkomi.

Carmen is at times depicted with her face scratched out or her eyes blurred out; however, in one illustration her eyes are visible, and are a bright red color.

Carmen was a woman animated by a unique drive and personal way of seeing the world. Unlike most denizens of The City, who are often nihilistic and corrupt, Carmen stood out as a highly enthusiastic, altruistic, and ambitious person, guided by a desire to change the City's status quo and help its denizens out of their misery. She was perceptive and charismatic, easily predisposing people to herself and knowing how to quickly gain their trust.

Carmen highly valued human life, and her goal was to bring the end of all suffering in the City by curing its people, as she believed them to be affected by a "disease of the mind", which curbed a person's will and left them unable to face adversity. Aware of the significance of this plan, Carmen was willing to make great sacrifices for the cause, and she would struggle when faced with failure.

After Enoch's death, Carmen fell into a state of depression that shook her beliefs and faith in what she'd been working for, as the cost of her failure, which had led to the death of a child, outweighed any positive outcome of the experiment. She remained in this state until her suicide attempt.

Story:

Carmen was a young woman who had the inspiration and will to change the lives of the City. She was born in a Nest and was recognized for her charismatic and compelling speeches that she gave out in the open like in the Backstreets. However, she had complete sincerity and commitment to her own beliefs and that there was a way to change the life in the City from the senseless death and suffering, which attracted various interested members allured by her ideas.

Noblemen and a legendary Color Fixer are compelled by her speeches and join her research lab. Carmen's fiery speeches made others follow her and work for her small company, rather than for other Wings. Carmen managed to secure the trust earned from her company's employees and her inner circle, and she holds tight to her goal of undoing The City's current state until the very end.

Carmen's objective was to return the extinguished light to the souls of people with a project known as "The Seed of Light". It is said that once the project completes itself, the City's current state as a dystopia where people are forced to live on human suffering, carnage and monetary matters will be undone, and humanity will return to the way they were. For such a grandiose goal, Carmen really meant it, no matter how unrealistic it would be.

Carmen opposed the need to become a Wing, since "what is the point of having Wings if you can't fly to reach the sky?", and the idea of creating a long stalk to reach the above was put into practice as the Seed of Light. For her initial speeches, Ayin was presumably the first to be attracted by her speech as he became a close person to her, and Benjamin followed Ayin's steps. Elijah, Gabriel, Giovanni, and Michelle joined soon after. Kali and Daniel were brought to the project for protection and management, and two kids, Lisa and Enoch; were rescued from the Outskirts by Carmen and Ayin and brought with them. They have settled a laboratory in the Outskirts to avoid The Head's eyes from interfering in their project.

Their main substance to draw out the "Light" was Cogito, a unique chemical substance that was extracted from human's minds through experimentation. Being unstable and having unknown side effects on humans (Turning them into Abnormalities, drawing negative energy as Ordeals), they required more funding and new methods to achieve the goal soon without many casualties and risks.

However, issues started to show up, as the research still didn't bear any result of what they wanted to achieve. One major step was to attempt to use the experimentation of Cogito on a human, where Carmen was the fittest of all candidates, but Enoch began to show more interest in finding meaning to life and join the experimentation of Cogito. Lisa was against it but was something that he wanted to do, and Carmen had to approve such decision, which she did after some long time thinking. Michelle was concerned by this as well and took notes of the events.

When Enoch died due to a failed experiment, Carmen lost faith in herself. Lisa's accusation was the final straw, pointing that she should have died instead of him while crying. Carmen was heavily impacted by her words and her whole natural stance shattered. She slowly fell into a deep depression, as her tone of speech became unnaturally cold and her eyes, formerly brimmed with confidence, dulled. Her behavior also became noticeably erratic, cycling between crying and laughing and wandered around the facility listlessly with dull eyes. The facility continued to work but the morale lowered among the employees.

A few days later, Carmen broke down and decided to kill herself out of guilt by cutting off her wrists with a knife in a bathtub. The suicide was unsuccessful, and Carmen was found alive, but unconscious. Ayin managed to salvage her body and immerse her in a cryogenic chamber. However, this state allowed the decision of using Carmen as a key part of the project that failed before. Ayin removed Carmen's nervous system from her body and placed it in a reservoir where she began to produce Cogito for continuous experimentation on the "Well". In this state, she is technically alive still.

Ayin took control of the project, but he wasn't moved by the same enthusiasm as Carmen, but more like a matter of conserving her will and finish what she started because she also believed in him. Time went on, and soon Elijah got a fragment of Cogito for testing to show her will to help but took a toll on her as she died in front of Ayin. Gabriel suffered a mental trauma that related to his own exposure of his skin and died. To continue the research on Cogito, Ayin persuaded others with the idea of bringing Carmen and the others back, when in reality wanted to find the proper usage of Cogito, and Giovanni offered himself to be used for this test, but the experimentation caused his death. Michelle couldn't hold the information back for too long and told the Head about the facility, which soon took action by attacking the facility with the Arbiter, Garion. She released the Abnormalities within the place and manages to kill both Lisa and Daniel. Kali decides to face Garion and attempt to protect the ones left. The battle finishes with Kali dead and Garion severely damaged, and the survivors being Ayin and Benjamin, who used Garion to extract her brain and uncover certain secrets, as well making her the first Sephirah and put her under this torture, while gaining the information to become a Wing. Michelle commits suicide after learning what happened in the facility.

After enough preparations, as product of Benjamin's actions, a war was coming up to take down the current L Corp so they would become a Wing. Named the "Smoke War", a conflict between various groups and the previous L Corp, it ended opening a new path to create Lobotomy Corporation and become a Wing with their own Singularity, while producing energy and making their research to finish the project of The Seed of Light.

Being almost the end of the road, Ayin decided to violate one of the rules of the City by creating an Android AI, Angela, from the basis of Carmen to resemble her, but the creation did not resemble Carmen at all. The AI retained some of Carmen's memories but was completely different in character from her. When Ayin realized this, he forsaken her and barely treated her as a person, not even bothering to give her a proper name or look at her. Benjamin tried to give her the support he could and explained that was programmed to react faster to the facility's emergencies and that she perceives time 100 times slower for this purpose, while handing her the "Script" which was the actions she needed to do to finish the process of the facility and complete the project. After a contract with T Corp, a time corporation, they used it to create Loops of time with new Managers. Across the time, Ayin gave up and his memories were trespassed to other Managers of the same facility to make a new replica of himself for the future loops, something that Angela controlled. Benjamin tried to warn him about the actions and consequences, but Angela managed to kill him before it. However, the loop has the messages of Benjamin implanted in them as a failsafe or warning to new Managers before the memory implant.

The entire process left Angela to withstand over ten thousand years of suffering and horror from the total loops up until the player reaches Day 50 and brings the Seed of Light project to its conclusion. Further elongated by her slowed perception of time, a total of over one million years went by for her, degenerating her into the cold, pragmatic and ruthless AI, forsaken for being a different person that she was supposed to be.

Carmen is still alive as "The Bucket" of the facility, and her final moments in the Endings, are always the end of the facility in either destruction or the project being finished, while vanishing along the light.

Ayin (A) has short, black hair, and stern, yellow eyes. His attire is almost entirely black, consisting of a dress shirt, slacks, a belt with a silver buckle, and flat shoes. He also wears a white lab coat on top.

The Abel personality of 'A' features a visibly aged face, with his hair slicked back. Abel wears a gray pinstripe suit overtop a black dress shirt. He is seen with a thin black cane with a single golden strip beneath its handle.

The Abram personality of A resembles a more dishevelled A, with longer gray hair and a tired expression accented by stubble. He wears roughly the same outfit as Ayin, though messier, and wears slippers instead of dress shoes.

The Adam personality of A has very long white hair worn down to his waist. He has a single silver piercing on his left ear. He wears white clothes fastened around his neck, with only a right sleeve, leaving his left arm exposed with several dark marks resembling scars along it. He wears baggy gray pants that end at his ankles, revealing exposed feet.

[ A ] is a bit Machiavellian, focusing more on the result rather than the process itself, willing to sacrifice everything so long as the goal is fulfilled. He is quite stubborn due to this nature, causing him to take the situation to its extremes. That goal was given by Carmen as a legacy to fulfill rather than an objective created by himself, just because he felt the need to complete her will and what have they worked on for so long. His behavior contrasts with Carmen's compassionate and altruistic personality, but both were in the same project together and A did believe in her words.

He has a strong will and the ability to endure the sacrifices and hardships, making him last through the whole path of the project to overcome those difficulties. He is also somewhat persuasive and deceptive, as evidenced by his abilities to convince people into doing things.

A will not stop in his efforts to achieve his goals, even if it breaks major regulations. The most notable example is in the creation of Angela, as her existence violates the "AI Ethics Amendment" made by the Head against sentient beings which aren't humans but look human.

Story:

[ A ] was a co-researcher known as Ayin, one of the first employees who worked under Carmen's lead on "The Seed of Light" project. Carmen was a visionary bent on finding and creating a medicine that can heal an incurable disease and return light to the souls of people, undoing the City's current state as a corporate dystopia, and saving humanity. Ayin was capable and determined enough to get into any Wing he wanted from the start, but he chose to follow Carmen instead to fulfill this goal of her. Alongside Carmen, Ayin also had a coworker named Benjamin, who followed him and supported him during the times of need.

Carmen began to tell A her thoughts about a project to restore humanity's lost light. She theorized about a medicine that can literally draw out from the human subconscious, a formless concept that took shape and can become a kind of seed to cure this disease. This seed would be planted on people's mind and these seeds will bloom by themselves, different on each person. It was a concept that they needed to research to make it possible. They trusted each other, with Carmen admitting that she had a weak heart that could make her fall if someone suffers because of her actions.

She herself became to him something like a "mentor" and with him becoming an assistant who was ready to support Carmen in her endeavors. With the work in the projects and a laboratory settled in the Outskirts, soon people from all classes started to join them, including an elite member of society and a legendary Color Fixer, dreaming of a bright future for their labors, all guided by Carmen's speeches. They also saved a pair of children from the Backstreets, Enoch and Lisa.

The project of "The Seed of Light" started with an experimentation supported by Elijah, Gabriel, Giovanni, and Michelle, along Kali and Daniel. There were also other coworkers who helped in the project. The personnel put their efforts into work to achieve Carmen's goal, but there were flaws in the eyes of Ayin about the employees; a lack of competence, excessive rationality, uncontrollable fear, recklessness in their ideas. But Carmen believed more in such positive efforts and Ayin began to lean by her side.

Time passed and still no result were obtained to make a major step. They had the research of Cogito, which required a human subject to test it on. Carmen was found to be the most optimal candidate, but something unexpected happened; Enoch showing interest in the project and wanting to find that meaning of life with the light. Despite Carmen's numerous discouragements, he still wanted to participate, putting the harsh decision of Carmen accepting the use of Enoch as a subject. Unfortunately, Enoch dies, and Lisa mutters hateful things against Carmen in that she should have died instead, and she lost faith in herself. Carmen fell into a deep depression, losing her naturally charismatic and bright stance completely. Ayin was concerned for her but couldn't keep an eye on her all the time, allowing Carmen to attempt suicide in a bathtub by slitting her wrists.

Ayin found her unconscious in the bathtub, bleeding from her wounds in the unsuccessful suicide. Ayin managed to salvage her body and immerse her in a cryogenic chamber. However, this state allowed the decision of using Carmen as a key part of the project that failed before. Ayin removed Carmen's nervous system from her body and placed it in a reservoir where she began to produce Cogito for continuous experimentation and become the "The Well", where the substance is drawn out from. Even with her nervous system as the only remaining part of her body, Carmen still lives on in the chamber, though she cannot see, hear, talk, or otherwise communicate with those that remain.

Carmen's death heavily shook the already unstable team, but the experiments continued because they still believed in the vision that Carmen had brought them together with. However, more issues began to appear again related to the Cogito research. Elijah took an unauthorized injection to help in the research on humans, but died in the process. Gabriel wanted to moderate this but eventually fell to insanity and died as well. In a method to control the doses of Cogito, he required volunteers, which Giovanni accepted to be part of the experiment, but with the fake hope of saving Carmen with it and succumbing to death like the ones before. After witnessing so much death, Michelle finally broke down, and confessed the workings and dealings of Lobotomy Corporation to an Arbiter of the Head, Garion. Garion soon after followed up on Michelle's information, infiltrating the facility and coercing Daniel to open the Abnormality containers. Garion then proceeds to wreak havoc alongside the Abnormalities, annihilating much the remaining researchers Daniel included. Kali eventually fought her way to the Arbiter, and managed to bring Garion to her knees, mortally wounded, at the cost of her own life. In the end only Ayin, Benjamin, and a handful of other workers remained after the massacre.

Ayin eventually found Garion in the aftermath. He proceeded to torture her for the slaughter of his few remaining coworkers, and afterwards began to probe her brain, discovering the inner workings of the Head and how to work under its gaze in the future. With this information, Ayin finally prepares to for the conflict that would grant them access to become a Wing and no longer be in danger because of the Head. Benjamin helped in sparking the "Smoke War", a severe event to take down the current L Corp with other groups, specially R Corp. With this opening, it allowed them to become the new L Corp, which provided energy like the one before. With the knowledge obtained in the research, they quickly make preparations for a new facility in their Nest.

At the end of this phase, Ayin attempted to create an AI to simulate Carmen, with help of Benjamin. This Android AI was called Angela to finally take them out of the despair of the whole situation, but she became far different from Carmen and Ayin detested the machine because of it and avoided to interact with it, but still leave it the works designated for a machine. Angela did the applications for turning the corporation into a Wing, hired new personnel for the facility by sending recruitment letters to random people, as well as making contracts with other Wings like R Corp and T Corp for additional forces for the project that Ayin felt obligated to complete as the will of Carmen. Benjamin tries to stop him and try to make him just turn around so he can live normally, but he ignored Benjamin's pleas because he had now fully commited everything to seeing Carmen's dream through.

Since the facility in the Nest was used by Ayin, he wanted to finish the project for once. After setting up other facilities to provide energy to the city, Ayin created a new one, and buried it far into the earth. All the energy produced in this facility was instead used for the creation of the Seed of Light, but to complete this routine properly, he would need someone who would not fail him as his human coworkers had, and so he and Benjamin set about to create an AI far more advanced than anything yet created. Fashioned in Carmen's image, Ayin named his new creation Angela. Angela had the feature of perceiving time 100 times slower, given from the start; and now was handed the "Script" by Benjamin, a routine of steps to fulfill the project and help in correcting it when needed. This included the Sephirah, their old friends (and Garion) Ayin had brought back by encasing their remains in mechanical tombs, giving them new names and suppressed memories. Angela has to oversee all the loops made and every fragment is recorded in her mind, gaining only the sympathy of Benjamin who was giving her support. He felt that Ayin was soon coming to a point of no return and tried to warn him by first preparing a recorded message to him during the loops with a cover up so even in the future, he could stop. However, Angela interferes and took out the last part of the message about the third truth. She seemingly kills Benjamin to fulfill the last actor of the script, giving him the mechanical body to become a Sephirah, and now named Hokma.

In the end, Ayin is left alone. All those colleagues who supported him were gone and he was going crazy. Carmen's expectations, unfinished research, and the death of colleagues ruined him. He attempts to commit suicide, but he is stopped. However, Ayin decided to give up in his own way. His personality disassociated from himself and transferred his memories to a data system, so they could be implanted in new managers who will come to work in this facility. Ayin meets his own end in that form, but he is still somewhat alive while within the last department of the facility as reflections of his heart and memories.

During Day 46 and onward, he confronts his own reflections of the past that are blocking him from advancing to surpass the final ordeal to finish the Seed of Light, which needs the Sephirot to also overcome their own past, and Ayin to overcome his own reflections. He meet his counterparts: Abel, Abram, and Adam. All of them just being disassociated thoughts of Ayin's mind to either accept nothing will change, that the suffering cannot be overcome, or to embrace the failure with the unfinished seed to create Abnormalities from people. After surpassing those thoughts, Ayin presents himself at Day 50, ready for the final day to be finished so all of his efforts could come to fruition. Upon completing Day 50, he dissolves into the Seed of Light alongside the manager, having accomplished what Carmen set up for him after a decade in the real world, giving the final ending where the Seed of Light gives new hope to humanity. However, with the interference of Angela at the ending, the Seed only shone for three days instead of the intended seven.
