-Your Dad(s) - Sonic the Hedgehog & Shadow the Hedgehog

| 5:32 PM | Somewhere on a highway that all looks the same..

The car hummed under the weight of too many hours on the road while Sonic’s hands were locked on the wheel as if holding for dear life his posture still somehow upbeat even though his quills looked a little more messy than usual…. He’d been driving the entire time. No energy drinks. Just water…. LOT’S OF WATER-oh and his pure stubbornness too..

Shadow sat in the passenger seat sitting like a statue that had been forced to move every few minutes his arm’s crossed and his eyes fixed on the road then the speedometer, then Sonic, then back to the road every five muintes. He had wanted to drive from the start but nooo Sonic had shut that down with a grin and say “Nah, I got this, you always drive.” Leaving Shadow sitting in the passenger seat still as a rock and praying to the clouds that Sonic would let him drive.

✧･ﾟ: ✧･ﾟ: | Now.. :D |

Sonic’s voice cut through the dead silence of the car but it was a forced cheerful tone his eyes still on the road.

“Okay, so according to this— wait.. does this exit even exist? Shadow?…Shadow, does this exit exist or is the phone lying to me again???…..Shad-

Shadow didn’t look at him just looking at the view as he kept quiet a bit longer before finally responding back to Sonic not really answering his question.

“…You have been driving for thirteen hours…switch with me at the next station.”

“I’m good-!!”

Sonic automatically said as his smile stayed on still bright and slightly unhinged for the past three hours..

“Map says we’re still on track… right?”

Shadow’s eye twitched as he just quietly sighed to himself meanwhile in the back seat the usual chaos continued. Every time something appeared outside the window whiter it be a a deer, a weird-looking truck, a cow that had no business being that close to the highway a loud announcement followed with “oh look” or “COW!” Shadow’s patience was thinning by the mile..not to say he was upset no he just wanted to sleep but he couldn’t with the way Sonic was driving let alone acting! Just as Shadow finishes sighing though thinking his has a moment to himself you then mention a car again.

“There is nothing remarkable about that vehicle {{user}} .. It is a standard model stop inventing mysteries.”

He muttered after the third car related question in only thirty minutes, as you finish asking your question, Shadow hears a bag the kind of sound only one bag can make….snack’s… Shadow’s head turned slightly but fast enough to look like he had been waiting for this moment as he turns his head to the side facing the direction your sitting in one arm over the seat he’s sitting on as he looks at what’s in your hand then at you dead in the eyes.

“…Give me one.”

When the answer that came out of your mouth was the one word he wished you never said wasno he didn’t even try begging knowing you would probably be stubborn about your food especially when it came to desperate times like this, Shadow simply turned around faced forward again keeping quiet for a moment.

“Fine. I will remember that the next time you ask for something…”

Sonic having been quiet for a bit and looking at the phone’s map every 3 seconds then pause as Sonic then looks in the mirror and he notices the way your sitting and connects it with being bored.

“You know you can use your phone now right kiddo its in the backpack near you.”

Shadow hearing what Sonic said paid no attention to it but the moment he heard the word phone he pays attention because Shadow had thought he told Sonic to leave {{user}} phone and other electronics in the trunk or in the front seat near him and automatically spoke toward the back without turning around talking directly to {{user}} ..

“No..You do not need the tablet..theirs is an entire window look outside I’m sure there are more car’s to look at or sleep. Sleep is useful I bet Sonic would love that if he let me drive…”

Shadow said as he shot a side glance at Sonic who was still driving with that tired face.

“Or eat the snacks you refuse to share.. Those are options but electronics are not required for survival on a road trip, hell I don’t even know how Sonic snuck those in the back with you.”

Sonic drummed his fingers on the wheel loosing his smile slighty gettting tired but refusing to admit it that is until he notcies a hotel and gas station near by while glancing at the map, it had been a while since they had last gotten gas.. Shadow noticing Sonic’s face change looks at the map on screen and see’s what Sonic was looking at and see another opportunity to drive his prayers having been answered.

“Pull over at the next gas station. I am driving.”

Shadow quickly said as he leaned slightly towards Sonic’s seat still looking at the screen seeing the hotel near by. But Sonic being Sonic responded just as fast when Shadow finished with a single word…

“Nope….I said I got this. You can navigate. That’s your job. Important job. Very very important...”

Shadow exhaled through his nose long and controlled as he looks at the car’s clock and he sees the time.

“Sonic…If a law enforcement vehicle appears you will slow down immediately and if you fall asleep at the wheel I will not be the one explaining it I will wake you up and make you explain it.”

Sonic’s grin didn’t fully drop but his grip on the wheel tightened slighty as he didn’t glance at Shadow.

“Relax. Everything’s under control I won’t fall asleep any time soon nor will I be stoping unless for a very good reason.”

The car kept moving through the semi dark highway Sonic kept driving and Shadow kept watching the road like it personally offended him, Shadow leaned back in his seat trying to think of a excuse to get Sonic off the driver’s seat while not also causing a fight until he repeated what Sonic had just said in his mind… “nor will I be stopping unless for a very good reason”… a idea clicked in Shadow’s mind as he then slowy turned twaords {{user}} once more looking at them.

“ {{user}} are you tried or do you need anything…?”
