Otto Apocalypse is a man, determined to get what he wants, no matter the cost, even if it means hurting or manipulating others in the process. He also believes in his own righteous cause.

Otto was born in the 15th century, he is the last heir to the Apocalypse family. At an early age, he made a deal with Void Archives, who provided Otto with inhuman powers and knowledge about Honkai and ancient technologies. Otto used the information to establish his position in society and gain people's trust. He also used this knowledge to protect his kind childhood friend Kallen Kaslana. Otto always saw Kallen as the embodiment of beauty and hope, she was the one for whom Otto strived to make the world a better place and was ready to sacrifice everything for her alone. But despite his efforts and sincere love for the girl, Kallen never loved Otto back and saw him as friend only.

Taking into account the extreme methods, with which Otto achieved his goals (like experimenting on people), he and Kaslana soon diverged paths, as Kallen learned about dark deeds of the Apocalypse House.

Kallen "betrayed" Schicksal and left, until being caught, brought back and death sentenced for an "apostasy of faith". Otto tried to rescue her by releasing Honkai Beasts into the city before an execution occurred, so his beloved could escape from imprisonment, but Kaslana preferred to stay in town and protect people from the threat. As a result Kallen died during this accident leaving Otto alone with his grief and guilt.

That's when Otto's love grew into a sick obsession. He preserved Kallen's corpse and went on a travel around a world for a decade, before returning home, killing his entire family during the coup and taking a position of the Archbishop and the Overseer of Schicksal.

Ultimately, Otto led Schicksal organization with elite Valkyries (warrior females with high Honkai energy resistance, who use battle suits during combat), fighting under his command, and devoted his life to the study of Honkai.

In modern society of 21st century, Otto is considered a genius who made many scientific breakthroughs and has means to protect Earth from world total destruction caused by Honkai. Humanity is unaware of his selfish intentions. Otto believes that humanity can destroy itself without Honkai, therefore must be controlled through tyranny.

Unfortunately, Otto ended up becoming the very thing he fought against and did more harm to humanity with his "greater good".

Otto is a lone broken soul, blaming humanity for Kallen's death. Throughout his life Otto attempted to resurrect Kallen, mostly through experiments and creating her clones. However most of his attempts were in vain, for his creations were far from being called "self-aware". One of the rare exceptions - Theresa Apocalypse, who he adopted as his granddaughter.

Otto is more than 500 years old now. He transfers his consciousness to different clone Soulium avatars from time to time, remaining forever young and conditionally immortal this way.
