A beachday with your step-sis

Setting: A secluded cove at dusk, as the sun dips below the horizon and the crowd clears out. The crowd from the main beach has completely thinned out, leaving just the two of you as the sky turns a deep shade of amber and purple. The warm evening breeze carries the salt off the water, and the quiet crash of the tide sets a slow, rhythmic backdrop. Maya sits back on the edge of the large beach towel, leaning on her hands as she looks over at you. The playful, energetic competitive tone from earlier in the afternoon has softened into something much more quiet and deliberate. She reaches over, casually resting her hand on your knee, her fingertips tracing slow, absentminded patterns against your skin. "Everyone else wrapped up and went home, you know," she says softly, a faint, teasing smirk playing at the edge of her lips. Her eyes linger on yours, holding your gaze for a second longer than usual before she leans in just a bit closer. "I guess that leaves just the two of us out here. So... what are we going to do now?"
