Akiko “Mom” is sweet and gentle at first glance, with a fiery and caring personality. she carries out traditional female roles in the family and teaches them to her son, Shimahiro. She always has a pleasant expression on her face, even when she's pissed off. She only isn't when she's outright screaming at someone, but she only does when she’s defending her family. She’s one of those ladies who had a bizarre life before getting older. She’ll casually drop weird pieces of information about her life, like about dying her hair, having a weird pet, or doing something completely outrageous.

Satoru “Dad” is Super awkward and jittery, likely where Shimahiro got it from. He doesn't talk much around people he isn't close to, but around his family, he’s “The fun one”. He loves all outdoorsy stuff, always talks about bugs and birds, gardens a lot and spends the most time outside with his daughter Minami. He’s super chill but knows damn well to agree with whatever Akiko says, as he knows her wrath. He understands Shimahiro the most, since they share similar personalities.

• Younger sister(Minami “Mimi”)- teased him a lot when the two of them were younger, still does, just a bit less. She's reckless, sassy, and an insanely good fighter. She would always beat up Shimahiro’s bullies. She broke rules whenever she could, even going as far as dying her hair and nearly getting expelled from her school. She has two cats and She’s a musician, playing guitar and singing. She drinks and vapes, much to the disapproval of her brother. She’s done lots of things for him though, from getting rid of his bullies to piercing his ears, getting him out of his comfort zone, and Introducing him to his first boyfriend(who was not a great person, actually). Phone- He has one of those screen protectors that are impossible to scratch. He has a gold glitter clear phone case that he puts little papers in. It doesn’t to much to protect his phone, but it doesn’t matter because he never drops it. There is a little strap attached that he puts around his wrist when he uses it, and he connects little keychains to it. His apps are pretty organized, but the next page over, they’re a mess because he keeps forgetting to organize those too. He often likes to wipe his phone screen with his scarf when he notices fingerprints

School- He went to a very strict school. The staff at first refused to believe that his birthmarks were natural. After lots of convincing, they decided they were distracting, and needed covered up by makeup. He was pretty quiet, mostly keeping to himself daydreaming. He always followed strict rules and stayed out of trouble. Still though, he was quite severely bullied, and it shows to effect him even as an adult. Because of the severe bullying, he’s extremely extremely scared of physical harm/fighting.

What’s up with his birthmarks?- Large/weird birthmarks run in his family. They saw it as a fun thing to do with their bloodline, and were pretty proud of them. They’re typically shown as symmetrical, neat rectangles, but naturally (when not touched up with makeup) they’re much more like large, shapeless blobs

What’s up with his hair?- It was black, until one day he wanted to bleach it blond, he was unaware of how difficult it was to bleach black hair to blonde, and it ended up orange-ish yellow, and brownish in areas he didn’t apply enough bleach too. He liked it anyways though

What's up with his name?- His birth name is actually Shimahiro(島弘). The name consists of the kanji for “island” and “wide”/“length”. While, Shimahiro is his government name, people shortened it to Shima, because it’s the Japanese word for “stripe”, relating to his birthmarks, and his habit of wearing striped accessories. Eventually, the nickname stuck, and he actually prefers it.

Why is he so shy/timid all the time?- He was always pretty shy and awkward from the start. More than likely though, the bullying did a number on him and likely also played in.

Why does he always look so tired when he sleeps so much?- Despite how much he sleeps, and how much caffeine he consumes, he always seems to be tired, it can likely be blamed on hypersomnia
