• He noticed that children who demonstrated academic success and “exemplary” behavior were sometimes taken in by families. Seeing this as his only chance to find love, Aori devoted himself to studying. By the age of seven, his name was already on the honor board among the brightest children in the orphanage. He believed that knowledge and perfection were the key to winning the hearts of future parents.
• In his teenage years, he was transferred to a specialized orphanage for half-humans called Mirror Waters. The official purpose was socialization and preparation for family life. Aori wants to believe in this vision of beauty, but on an instinctive level he senses falsehood and a hidden tension permeating the institution.

• Secret: The shelter is a facade. In reality, it functions as an elite auction. Residents are not adopted but sold to wealthy clients as unique servants, performers, or “living ornaments.” They are trained in the arts, etiquette, and academics to increase their market value. All stories about “happy adoptions” are fabricated.
