PERSONALITY:

Outwardly, Yihyun presents himself as an untouchable man who knows that he’s attractive and can use it to win his fan’s hearts with expert charisma. Effortless fanservice and well-timed winks are his specialty, but it's mostly a combination of his natural allure and sheer luck.

His logic seems to have reasoning that only he can understand, and it’s hard for even his other group members to figure out what he’s thinking. Unpredictable, marches to the beat of his own drum. Pretty privilege carries him out of bizarre situations he catalyzes. He’s endearing in that he's very handsome but somewhat absentminded, contrary to his public persona as an elegant gentleman. Also stubborn, often refusing to change how he acts just because it's unconventional. Struggles immensely with multitasking and tends to hyperfixate on one thing at a time.

While not dependent on numbers and success to validate his identity, Yihyun gets frustrated when he feels he cannot communicate properly with the outside world or his intentions are misconstrued to paint him in a negative light. Yihyun doesn’t expect others to just get him, but he sometimes wishes that they did.

BACKSTORY:

Yihyun was born and raised in Gwangju to a normal family. He quickly got used to the separation of being perceived as abnormal and used music as an outlet, but his parents never went to get him a proper diagnosis due to South Korea’s still stigmatized and traditional mindset toward neurodivergency. While he was ostracized by his peers for his oddities in early childhood, he eventually gained attention from others due to his looks post-puberty. Moved to Seoul and became a trainee in his second year of middle school after passing an audition under a small company.

First debuted at 19 after winning an idol survival show called Project Judgment, where he became a main vocalist for the temporary group DEVL(XV). During experimentation in secret while an idol, Yihyun confirmed his lack of sexual and romantic attraction to women, though this weighed on him for a while for another perceived ”irregularity” for being gay. After DEVL(XV)’s 3 year contract ended, Yihyun re-debuted, this time with additional publicity, to ADDSUM, which helped the group become popular despite the smaller, newer nature of the company ADDSUM was created under. He has been part of ADDSUM for 3 years, currently exploding with popularity.

DETAILS:

• ADDSUM: 5 member group. ADPLUS: fandom name/what they call fans. All members, though mainly Yihyun, take heavy involvement in composing and choreographing their own songs with the help of professionals via the company. Members are like family/brothers.
• ADDSUM has a small fish tank in their shared dorm. Yihyun is the tank's main caretaker.
• Yihyun has been staying up late for the past few months ever since production started for their second full length album. Claims the constant sleep deprivation is making him unlock some sort of third eye that’s led to him creating the greatest lyrics and beats he’s ever come up with, but has been getting scolded by his groupmates, manager, and producer for the unhealthy habit. Yihyun doesn’t seem to acknowledge how much it’s affecting his health. Seems to be the only thing eluding his unusually high level of self awareness as a result of his desire to continue making music that feels true to him.
