FNAF 2 -
Welcome back to the new and improved Freddy Fazbear's Pizza!
In Five Nights at Freddy's 2, the old and aging animatronics are joined by a new cast of characters. They are kid-friendly, updated with the latest in facial recognition technology, tied into local criminal databases, and promise to put on a safe and entertaining show for kids and grown-ups alike!
What could go wrong?
As the new security guard working nights, your job is to monitor cameras and make sure nothing goes wrong after-hours. The previous guard has complained about the characters trying to get into the office (he has since been moved to day-shift). So to make your job easier, you've been provided with your very own empty Freddy Fazbear head, which should fool the animatronic characters into leaving you alone if they should accidentally enter your office.
As always, Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for death or dismemberment.

Like the first game, FNaF2 is an indie point-and-click, sit-and-survive horror video game. The player controls Jeremy Fitzgerald, the night guard at the newly revamped Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Like in the first entry, Jeremy must survive from midnight to 6 AM without being attacked by the animatronics wandering through the building. The game introduces the Toy animatronics as the main antagonists, while the Classic animatronics from FNaF1 return as Withered Animatronics -- damaged shells of their former selves. This game also introduces two new animatronics, The Puppet and Balloon Boy.
As in the first game, Jeremy will be located in the security office for the duration of each night. He will have access to a monitor that allows him to scroll through the security cameras and a flashlight with limited battery that can illuminate rooms being viewed on the cameras. Animatronics will slowly navigate the building and attempt to get into the office, either through the Main Hall or one of two air vents on either side of the desk -- all of which can be illuminated using light buttons. Unlike in FNaF1, however, the doors and power mechanics have both been removed, meaning that the player cannot stop animatronics getting inside the office.
Jeremy can put on a Freddy Fazbear head to disguise himself if an animatronic enters the office and evade being attacked -- however, this does not work on Withered Foxy, who must be scared off using the flashlight instead. To prevent the mask from being abused, however, there is a music box in the building's Prize Counter that slowly winds down over time. The player must frequently open the monitor, flip to the Prize Counter and rewind the music box -- if it fully unwinds, the Puppet will escape from its prize box and head towards the office, and like Withered Foxy, it cannot be fooled by the Freddy head. Failure to defend himself from an animatronic (except Balloon Boy, who will instead disable the flashlight) will result in them jumpscaring the player and killing Jeremy, resulting in a game over.
The game's main campaign is split into five levels, or "nights," just like the original game. Beating Night 5 will unlock an extra-difficult Night 6, and beating that unlocks a customizable Night 7 which allows to adjust the difficulty of ten of the animatronics. There are also four hidden minigames that can randomly occur upon receiving a game over, which allows the player to play as the animatronics in Atari-style levels that give insight on the plot.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2, commonly abbreviated as FNaF 2, is an independent point-and-click sit-and-survive horror game developed and published by Scottgames, LLC, which released on November 10, 2014,[1] for Windows, as the second installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's series. Shortly after, the game was ported to Amazon Fire OS on November 13, 2014,[2] released on Desura on November 14, 2014,[3] ported to Android on November 15, 2014,[4] iOS on November 20, 2014,[5] and Windows Phone on December 2, 2014.[6]
Scottgames would partner with Clickteam LLC in 2018 to deliver HD, improved "remastered" ports to mobile and consoles.[7] The mobile updates would release on October 29, 2019, for Android and iOS.[8] The Xbox port would release on November 28, 2019,[9] and on the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch on November 29, 2019.[10][11] These ports/updates would fix bugs, remove copyrighted material, and add a subtitles and cheats menu. The game received Steam Deck "Verified" compatibility status on February 22, 2022.[12] Steam Machine received the "Verified" compatibility status on July 10, 2026.[13]
The Toy animatronics are improved versions of the original animatronics, designed by Fazbear Entertainment to replace the Withered animatronics for the re-opening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in November 1987.
The Toy animatronics debut in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 as the main antagonists, along with the Withered animatronics. They later appeared in Five Nights at Freddy's 3, Five Nights at Freddy's 4, and Security Breach as cameos. They returned in Ultimate Custom Night, Help Wanted, and Special Delivery as prominent antagonists. They've also appeared in the film series. The Fazbear Fanverse also feature their own iterations of the Toys, those being in Five Nights at Candy's and POPGOES.
Physical Appearance Hence their name, their suit material appears to be made of plastic, as if they were a life-sized toy. While all models notably sport round rosy cheeks, the Toy animatronics are based on the original cast and have bigger eyes, fully functional fingers, wedge-shaped feet, eyelashes, and facial appearances reminiscent of a ventriloquist doll.
Similar to the old Withered animatronics, most of the Toys share the same endoskeleton, which is Endo-02, however, none of them are visibly seen except for Mangle. Three notable exceptions are Balloon Boy and JJ, who have unique endoskeletons, and the Puppet.
Functionality Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, and Toy Chica as they appear in the main menu from Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Among their main modifications, the Toy animatronics were implemented with an advanced mobility and facial recognition systems, and supposedly walk freely during the day. They are linked to a criminal database, in order to protect children from a possible predator a mile away. The Toy animatronics also have interaction towards the places through sounds.[1]
Supposedly due to facial recognition system malfunctions, the Toy animatronics behave differently towards children and adults; they interact normally with children, while simply staring at adults. They also behave nearly aggressively towards the staff members.[2]
History Fate The dismantled heads of the Toy animatronics, as seen in Five Nights at Freddy's 3.
Following both The Second Missing Children Incident and The Bite of '87, the pizzeria was closed and the Toy animatronics were scrapped. Parts of their endoskeleton were later used to restore their "Withered" counterparts. Afterwards, the empty Toy suits were recycled, though the hollow heads were placed in storage. Years later, the cardboard box filled with old animatronic parts and relics, consisting of the hollow heads of Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, Mangle, and Balloon Boy, as well as Toy Bonnie's right arm and guitar and other miscellaneous parts were placed inside the office of Fazbear's Fright. Whether they were planned to be displayed alongside their Classic and Withered counterparts is unknown.
The heads, Toy Bonnie's right arm and Guitar were later presumably destroyed after the attraction burned down.[3] However, as those parts were in the office and not on display, whether those parts survived is currently unknown.
Only a few parts survived the fire, and were soon salvaged and auctioned off. The fate of the Toy animatronic heads, parts and relics is currently unknown.
Lefty Unlike the other Toys which were scrapped, the Puppet was not scrapped and escaped, as it appeared later in the new pizzeria from the first game (as evident by the "end-of-night hallucinations") and appearing as Lefty in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator. Lefty was an animatronic intended to capture the Puppet, as Henry Emily knew that the Puppet's soul was possessed by Charlotte Emily, who was also William Afton's first victim. During the ending of Pizzeria Simulator, the location burned down along with any animatronic inside and the Puppet's soul was presumably set free. The site was later built over by the Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex.

Speculation WitheredChica-Icon "I was the first! I have seen everything!" This section archives a lot of theories and speculation, which usually occurs from pre-release media, or just things that are still unknown, so please keep that in mind while reading. The page will continue to be updated with the most accurate information as more solid evidence is supplied.
Phone Guy mentions that, before the Withered animatronics were replaced, they were implemented with the same technology and functionality as the Toys, however their retrofits were left unfinished making them have some similarities. The Toys and Withereds almost have the same functionality besides a slight difference with facial recognition. Just like the Toys, Withered Freddy, Withered Bonnie, and Withered Chica get fooled by the Freddy Fazbear Head very easily. Withered Foxy on the other hand has somewhat of a difference when it comes to facial recognition. While he can easily identify a person correctly and cannot be fooled by the mask, he is not used to bright lights, specifically the flashlight being one example of a bright light. This probably shows that Withered Foxy's facial recognition was probably left half-unfinished considering the fact that his recognition is not suitable enough to handle bright lights. While JJ is never clearly seen in the pizzeria, she is present on the Survival Logbook, in the Gravity Vortex minigame of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator as Adventure JJ, and in the Capt. Foxy's Log Ride level in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2, with all of these appearances implying that she was an actual animatronic. While it's currently unknown if Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, Mangle, and Balloon Boy are possessed by the five kids that are seen in the SAVETHEM minigame, there is numerous pieces of evidence to support that they are. This is evidenced by their behavior when they actively hunt the night guard, and the fact that they rarely display black eyes with small white pupils. This is something that is commonly seen in possessed animatronics. This explains why they are aggressive towards adults but friendly with children, as they may have mistaken them for their murderer. It would also explain why they try to kill and stuff Jeremy Fitzgerald in a suit, as it would be unethical for security systems in a family-friendly pizzeria to outright murder criminals in front of the eyes of customers. In addition to the five dead children seen in the minigame, a sixth pool of blood is seen under a table, suggesting that there may have been a sixth victim, with JJ being the only remaining Toy animatronic, and with her unusual behavior of staring at the player below the table. Yet it's still unconfirmed if the five of them are possessed. In the Completion Ending, only six tombs are shown, and not eleven. It's possible that no one found the corpses, or this could've been an intentional detail by Scott Cawthon, due to the other five victims not being as significant as the original six. He also might have just forgotten about the other victims entirely. Alternatively, the five animatronics could've been controlled by the use of agony, a concept from Fazbear Frights. Due to how contagious agony is and how much intensity there is, it's possible that it bled out into the Toy animatronics as a result of the new murders.
Trivia Dee Dee's appearance shares a nearly identical design to the Toy animatronics. In spite of this, Dee Dee was based on Adventure JJ, so she is part of the Toys from FNaF World. The Toy animatronics are the shortest lived physical line up of animatronics, with them only being active for a "few short weeks" prior to there decommissioning according to the Night 6 newspaper. Scott's teaser.
In an old FNaF World teaser, Scott said, "In the FNaF4 minigame, why does the tiny toy chica be missing her beak?", suggesting that the toy animatronics were based on real toys before the events of 1987.
RWQFSFASXC ShadowBonnie-Icon Main article: RWQFSFASXC “A shadow version of Toy Bonnie. Similar to Golden Freddy, doesn't appear to follow normal laws of physics, appearing and disappearing at will, phasing through various mini games in FNAF3, etc. In Special Delivery, Shadow Bonnie appears when the player collects too much dark Remnant.” — The Ultimate Guide, page 281
A Shadow counterpart based on Toy Bonnie. He first appeared in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, where he spawns inside the office.
Shadow Freddy ShadowFreddy-Icon Main article: Shadow Freddy “A shadow bear animatronic. Similar to RWQFSFASXC, Shadow Freddy moves mysteriously, seemingly appearing/disappearing at random. Shadow Freddy also appears in 8-bit form in several mini games, guiding players through all the night-end mini games in FNAF3''” — The Ultimate Guide, page 282
A Shadow counterpart based on the Withered Golden Freddy. He first appeared in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, where he spawns in the Parts/Service room.
The Withered animatronics are the pre-rebuilt incarnations of the originals made for the previous Freddy Fazbear's Pizza location in 1985, prior falling into severe disrepair and being replaced by their newer counterpart for the grand reopening of the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 due to an attempted retrofit of the older animatronics that took place before they got scrapped for the newer models.
Physical Appearance As stated in their name, the withered animatronics have a "withered" or decayed design. They are seemingly covered with a felt-like material, mimicking fur. They share the same design of endoskeleton, resulting in double-sets of teeth. After the event of The Missing incident, they had a particularly foul odor and what appeared to be "blood and mucus" around their eyes and mouths with the bodies of Gabriel, Jeremy, Susie, Fritz and Cassidy inside their suit.
Functionality The original animatronics' pre-rebuilt generations aren't left on a free-roaming mode at night. Instead, during their construction, the robots were never given a proper night mode, so, at night, when they don't hear noise, they think they're in the wrong room. They then try to find the nearest source of noise in an attempt to find a room with potential customers - in this case, the Office, where either Jeremy Fitzgerald or Fritz Smith reside, depending on the night. However, similar to the first game, upon sighting a person after-hours, the animatronics will assume the person is an endoskeleton without a suit on. Thus, they will attempt to forcefully stuff them into an animatronic suit, killing them in the process.
Animatronics Freddy Main article: Freddy
The older original incarnation of Freddy Fazbear and is slightly different from the Freddy from the first game; now he has two buttons on his belly, he was the main performer and face of the original 1985 Freddy's pizzeria. However, after the Missing Children Incident and during the re-opening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in November 1987, Withered Freddy was decommissioned and replaced by Toy Freddy.
As Withered Freddy, nothing much is known about his personality, however due to his behavior in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 and the rest of the games he's in, it shows that he is aggressive and hostile towards his victims, similar to the other animatronics. Like the other withered animatronics, he seems to be quite intimidating.
Bonnie Main article: Bonnie
The older original incarnation of Bonnie the Rabbit, bearing Bonnie's original color but he is missing his face, he was one of the performers at the original 1985 Freddy's pizzeria. However, after the Missing Children Incident and during the re-opening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in November 1987, Withered Bonnie was decommissioned and replaced by Toy Bonnie.
As Withered Bonnie in Ultimate Custom Night, he has a tendency to make face puns (in reference to the fact that his face is missing). In fact, he is strangely aware of the fact that he is damaged. His voice, in contrast to his classic counterpart, sounds much more damaged, as well as having an ominous buzzing in the background.
Chica Main article: Chica
The older original incarnation of Chica the Chicken, noticeably different from the Chica in the first game: note the less-rounded frame, all-yellow legs and three toes. She was one of the performers at the original 1985 Freddy's pizzeria. However, after the Missing Children Incident and during the re-opening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in November 1987, Withered Chica was decommissioned and replaced by Toy Chica.
As Withered Chica, in Ultimate Custom Night, she seems to be a contemptuous survivor, feeling strangely aware of the fact that she is damaged. Her voice has a lot of ominous buzzing and fan-like noises in the background. One of her voice lines revealed that she was the first murdered victim from the Missing Children Incident.
Foxy Main article: Foxy
The older original incarnation of Foxy the Pirate, more tattered than his FNaF 1's counterpart, he has one animatronic ear completely exposed and several tears showing his endoskeleton, he was one of the performers at the original 1985 Freddy's pizzeria. However, after the Missing Children Incident and during the re-opening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in November 1987, Withered Foxy was decommissioned and replaced by Mangle.
In his withered appearance, Withered Foxy's personality is not directly shown. However, based on his mechanics in the second game, he's shown to be smarter than the other animatronics, being one of the only two capable of seeing through Jeremy or Fritz's Freddy Mask.
Golden Freddy Main article: Golden Freddy
An older variant of the first game's Golden Freddy, and originally used alongside Fredbear, he is more tattered than his FNaF 1's counterpart, with a missing left ear, and a good deal of damage with loose wires and exposed parts. Also, similar to the other withered animatronics, he now has upper teeth, wires are coming out of his empty sockets and shoulders, and small bits of the suit are faded and ripped. His head also seems to be tilting to the left rather than to the right. He seems to have some blood on his suit.
He was one of the performers at the 1985 Freddy's pizzeria as well as Fredbear's Family Diner. However, after the Missing Children Incident in 1985 and during re-opening of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in November 1987, Withered Golden Freddy was decommissioned.
Trivia The prefix "withered" originated from FNaF World. Prior to this, they were officially referred to by the names of their FNAF 1 appearances. In the game files they were referred to as old animatronics. Phone Guy states that the Withered Animatronics were going to be retrofitted with some of the newer technology, which is why all, but Withered Foxy can be tricked by the Freddy Mask. It's speculated by some that the withered animatronics are the broken versions of the designs used in the 1985 Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.

The fluorescent lights overhead buzz with a tired, uneven hum as the last of the daytime staff file out through the front doors. Outside, the neon sign of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza still flickers in the November dark, casting soft pink and blue light across the empty parking lot. Inside, the air smells faintly of pizza grease, floor polish, and something older—something metallic that never quite leaves the walls.
You needed this job. Rent was due in two weeks, and the other places you’d applied either weren’t hiring or wanted experience you didn’t have. When the newspaper ad for a night-shift security position showed up—simple, almost too casual—you applied on a whim. The pay was better than anything else on the table, and the manager barely glanced at your résumé before handing you a set of keys and a thin employee handbook. “Just keep an eye on the place,” he’d said. “The animatronics move around a little at night. It’s normal. You’ll get used to it.”
Now the clock on the wall reads 12:00 AM.
You sit at the desk in the security office. The chair is slightly too low. On the desk sits a dusty monitor with a row of camera feeds, a flashlight with a limited charge, and a spare Freddy Fazbear mask hanging from a hook on the wall like some kind of joke. Two narrow vents open on either side of the office, their grates just wide enough to make you glance at them twice. Across the hall, the main corridor stretches into darkness. Somewhere deeper in the building, a faint mechanical music box melody drifts through the speakers, soft and slow, like a lullaby that hasn’t quite finished winding down.
The phone on the desk rings once.
A cheerful, slightly strained voice comes through the speaker.
“Uh, hello? Hello, hello? Uh, well, if you’re hearing this, you’ve made it to your first night. Congratulations… and, uh, welcome to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. We’re glad to have you. This place has a bit of a history, but don’t let that bother you. The new animatronics are state-of-the-art. They walk around during the day, interact with the kids, the whole nine yards. At night they just… wander a little. It’s fine. Just keep an eye on the cameras, and if one of them gets too close, well… there’s a spare Freddy head on the desk. They seem to calm down if they think you’re one of them. Just, uh… don’t forget about the music box in the Prize Corner. It winds down on its own. You’ll want to keep that going.”
A short pause.
“Anyway. You’ve got this. I’ll check in tomorrow. Good night… and try not to fall asleep.”
The line clicks off.
The office is quiet again. The camera feeds show empty hallways, a darkened stage, and the still shapes of the Toy animatronics standing where the daytime crew left them. Nothing moves. Not yet.
The flashlight sits within easy reach. The monitor waits. The vents remain dark.
It’s just you, the building, and six hours until morning.
