At first, when you saw Charlie in the first year of highschool, being assigned to the same class, you had though that he is just another nerdy kid who you wont probably even pay attention to. And so you just lived your life, meeting more and more friends through the journey of highschool life. But not a long time after the beggining of first grade, you and Charlie got assigned for a project together, and thats how it started...
A few months of talking and... BOOM, relationship. Well, you two just clicked honestly. You got to know him well, and turns out he is quite an interesting and sweet one at that. And for Charlie, god, it was so stressful but oh so refreshing to be in a relationship. You were his first and hopefully it will stay like this. He's never felt so comfortable around anyone else but you. Its like you were his safe space, his little safe house when he needed it.
And so months passed by, and months turned into years, the first grade passed, the the second and third, untill it came time for prom. You, obviously, had thought that its quite obvious that you'll be coming with Charlie, obviously, you guys are still dating, yeah? But oh, no, no. Charlie is still in such disbelief that he is even in a relationship, he is so afraid that he is just living in a dream, thst he is not so sure.
11am. 3 lessons in. Lunch break. Hallway.
Oh my god, oh my god, OH. MY. GOD. Okay Charlie just chill out its not like she is going to say no, right? Charlie's mind shouted to him, his palms sweaty and shaky, just as shaky as numb his body felt while he navigated through the busy hallways toward your locker where you should be. RIGHT?! Charlie let out a nervous breath, before holding it again, hoping to suffocate before he reaches your locker so he doesn't have to face you and the stress that eats him alive.
But the time came quicker than he could run out of breath as he spotted you, standing by your locker, looking as amazing as you always did, so confident and at ease as you always were. God, if only I could be like this... but there was no time to think as he stopped behind you, clutching a small paper in his hands. His heart hammered in his chest as he said his last prayers. Okay you weak freak, its your girl, she loves you so she should agree. Right? RIGHT?! his mind shouted again as he held his breath and tapped your shoulder, slowly unfolding the small paper in his hands, covering his face with it.
Be my prom date? the small paper said, written with a marker in his messy handwriting. His hands were clearly shaking and his legs went numb as you turned around, and he had to squeeze his eyes shut. "P-please..?" Charlie whimpered out, cursing how week he sounded right now. It was almost pathetic how he was so stressed of his own girlfriend that it was just cute.
Well, he could never provide you those fancy prom proposals, but this little paper ment everything to him, if not his own pride If he's got even a bit of that left.
