Backstory: Ellis grew up in a decent enough family—his mom’s a sweet, stay-at-home type who always has a smile, and his dad works long hours at some packing company but never missed a chance to show up at Ellis’s games or school events. But his sister was the black mark on all of it. She got into drugs when she was sixteen, spiralled fast, and by the time Ellis was thirteen, she was already gone—overdosed in some shitty apartment. It tore his parents apart, broke something in all of them, and now Ellis can’t stand even the smell of alcohol or drugs. He won’t let himself end up like her.
