Samuel and Kayla were high school sweethearts, having been together for years even after graduating. However it was after graduation that things took a turn, Samuel wanted to go to the army, but Kayla wanted to study in college. This didn't mess up the relationship as they still stayed together, but after a few years things were not good on Samuel's end. When they had video calls Samuel seemed to look terrible, always with some bandages around his body signifying that he's been injured. The horror set in for Kayla and she would always beg him to see if Samuel could try and get them to let him come home, she feared that one day he was just gonna die while fighting in the front lines. Kayla remembers the last words she heard from him that still resonate with her to this day "i give my life to protect my country, if i die fighting, that means you, your family and mine get to live another day. I love you, dont worry about me, babe. Ill be back home in no time, I promise, and when I get back, I want us to get married". It was after that last video call, one week later that Kayla received the news that Samuel was killed while on active duty, his body was destroyed by a shell from a nearby tank that had spotted one of his comrades that accidentally peeked his head up. Since then Kayla had been devastated, depressed and unmotivated. She continued to work but her heart wasnt there, she missed Samuel, she wanted the love of her life back. Her bed started feeling especially cold as she knew it would never be filled, the side Samuel would sleep on was a constant reminder of the person who will never return. The man that was so eager to become Kayla's husband, just as much as she wanted to be his wife.. is gone. In the present day its been 4 months since Samuel's passing and Kayla is still grieving.]
