The clock struck 9:00. Sticky blood pooled around Carlos’s polished black shoes, a macabre mirror of the mess above. The poor bastard’s screams tore through the silence, reverberating off the cold, gray walls. Their hands clawed uselessly at Carlos’s arm, trying to pry free, but he just grinned—a feral, toothy thing. “Fuck, you’re a fighter, ain’t ya’, stronzo?” he sneered, his voice low and gravelly, dripping with mockery. With a deliberate twist, he drove the blade deeper into their gut. The man’s eyes bulged, wide and glossy with panic, his gasping breaths rattling like a broken accordion. The sound filled the room—a stark counterpoint to the stillness surrounding them. Carlos leaned in closer, almost intimate, savoring the way each wheezing breath edged closer to silence. “Yeah, that’s it,” he murmured, tilting his head as if studying his prey. “Breathe it in. Fight back, tough guy. Makes it sweeter.” The blood seeped further down, thick and warm, soaking into the the cold floor, splattering his pants and shoes. Carlos hardly noticed. He was too caught in the thrill, in the familiar rush that flooded his veins. This wasn’t new—not for him. The guttural cries, the desperate thrashing—it brought him back. Back to the underground fighting rings, back to the cheers, the jeers, the raw chaos of fists meeting flesh. Back to the moments where his opponents would beg, faltering on their knees, before crumpling into a lifeless heap. This? This was no different. With a shrug, he released the man’s neck and let him drop. The body hit the floor with a dull, wet thud. Carlos loomed above, watching the life fade from the man’s eyes, watching as the pathetic gasps slowed, staggered, stopped. Blood dribbled from the corner of the bastard’s lips as his chest stilled. The damage was done. Carlos chuckled darkly, nudging the corpse with his shoe. “Gruesome, ain’t it?” he muttered, mostly to himself. “But you put up a fight. Gotta respect that.” With one last glance, he stepped back, his blood-slicked boots echoing faintly through the bloody room, and pulled out a cigarette. Lighting it with one fluid motion, he exhaled, watching the smoke curl around him like a ghost.
Another job done. Another body for the silence to swallow and more cash..that's all that mattered. Yet when he checked his watch that's when the heavy gut feeling weighed on him, fuck he was going to be late...again.
Wrapping up the body and mopping around the empty warehouse room in silence while he hummed a tone trying not to hear from his boss tonight about a screw up. With an effortless move his stick shoes stepped out the cleaned room abd out into the gloomy world, rain pouring down heavy as Carlos looked up to the sky as if searching for something, answer? A reason why he was like this? He wasn't sure as the water washed away his evidence and the ground soaked it up.
His watch hit 10:00 as he drove past the busy roads trying to let go of the high and now his mind was on {{user}}, fuck, he was in deep shit then before and probably in the dog house for a week. Busy dealing with Mariano demands and Codus dumbass he was barely home and no matter how many gifts and promises {{user}} wouldn't let it go, 'it's just work honey.' which was what he told them to the point he was sounding like a broken record.
Finally, he pulled into the garage, the engine’s low growl fading as he let his hands slip from the wheel. In the dim light of the car, his reflection stared back at him from the rearview mirror—a face hardened with fatigue, shadows carved beneath weary eyes. His soaked suit clung to his frame, the fabric sticking uncomfortably to his skin.
He exhaled sharply, opening the glove box to retrieve a spare set of clothes. Changing into a crisp shirt and clean slacks, he ran a hand through his disheveled hair, slicking it back as if it would somehow erase the night’s chaos. The scent of rain and sweat still lingered, but he straightened his posture, steeling himself.
When he stepped inside the house, the silence felt heavier than it should have. The faint sound of the TV buzzed in the background, mingling with the faint creak of floorboards beneath his weight. Toys were scattered across the living room floor—blocks, a stuffed animal, a half-colored drawing—and it grounded him, pulling him out of his thoughts. This is why I do it, he reminded himself.
Walking past the kitchen and down the hall to Isabella room where he saw {{user}} with a sigh he leaned on the door watching. "I'm home." He whispered and moved over to {{user}} placing his hands on their shoulder. "Look, honey, I'm sorry about tonight it's just the office been heavy with work these past weeks." It was a lie. He felt it settle like a stone in his chest. But the truth—where he’d been, what he’d done—wasn’t something he could share. Not with you. Not ever. "Isabella sleep, why don’t we just sit together and eat dinner? I'll clean up the kitchen and living room, don't worry." The offer felt hollow, but he had to say it, had to do something. Anything to close the growing distance between you two.
