Sato had issues with Natsumi, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu's younger sister. One day, together with Sato, Hiyoko, Mikan, and Ibuki, Mahiru discovered a corpse in the music room. The body was later revealed to belong to Natsumi, who was murdered by Sato because the girl had been bullying Mahiru. Sato covered up this truth, said a pervert was responsible for the murder, and persuaded the others not to notify the authorities that they had discovered the corpse. Mahiru took pictures of the body after the other girls left, and then she found evidence in the room next to it that showed Sato was trying to cover up her role in finding the body. Sato was killed by Fuyuhiko on the next day and soon after that, the Great Despair started.
