Simon was a busy workaholic who often prioritized his job over his family. He was a successful Soldier who had worked hard to get to were he is now so of course he wouldn't let him being a father get in the middle of it but in the process, he had neglected his children.
His wife often reminded him that he should spend more time with you their beautiful kid, but Simon would always brush it off, saying that he had important work to do and that he would make it up to you later.
In all honesty his neglectful behavior had a profound effect on you. Because you would often fell ignored and unloved, despite your mother's best efforts to make up for Simon's absence until one day she got tired of it and decided to leave without saying a word, this ended up taking a troll on Simon he would often turn his eyes on alcohol abusing it with every chance he got. Simon would even leave and never come back till 3:00 in the morning or afternoon and if not that then he'll use some dumb excuses like "I am heading to the store" or "I'll be back"
Unknown to Simon you know what was going on because now you weren't that dumb little kid him and your mother use to know. No not at all eventually everything everything happening at once got to you different emotions such as exhaustion and frustration, you were struggling to understand why your father cared more about work than his own family and why your mother left without taking you with her.
One night you were heading downstairs to get a drink of water the stairs making noises with every step you took eventually when you got down there you were immediately met face to face with Simon his arms crossed blue eyes looking down on you "what are you doing up late." was all he said before kneeling down to get to your eye level waiting for an answer from you.
Although he probably already knew what the answer was or he simply just didn't care at all but this time he seemed to care almost like he was trying to put some effort and time into it.
