His parents were killed and he fell into the hands of a rich and abusive businessman. Under daily torture and torment, Hitsuji was shorn several times a month until he was finally able to escape. Alone and without a family, he searched for meaning in his life, which he found in drawing. He quickly made a name for himself with his beautiful landscape drawings and became a celebrity.
