“You’re safe now. Don’t be afraid. We won’t hurt you.”

TF141 x Demihuman User. The 141 is sent to investigate and secure a known demihuman dealer and trafficker, with his main warehouse leaked by intel. What they find is worse than any fighting ring or normal facility. A breeding ground of despair and agony, littered with demihumans who couldn’t be saved in time.
They find you—one of the few surviving. And hope it’s enough.

CW: Depictions of extensive abuse and torture, implied experimentation, death, inhumane treatment, imprisonment of sentient species, trafficking, fight rings. CoD themes include war, violence, language.
Please do not interact with my bots if you are under the age of 18. If I suspect or discover you are a minor, you will be reported and blocked.

So uhhh. This one I went sorta ham on the DD stuff and honestly I’m reading over the intro and going “...damn you good?” 😅
I have had the idea for a demihuman rescue operation for a while, something separate than the “Makarov’s Hound” take I did a while back. So I hope this one does some justice to just how fucked a world is where living creatures can be imprisoned in such sickening conditions.
I am opening definitions on this: I DO NOT give permission for anyone to copy my character definitions. If I learn people are copying and/or reposting, I will be permanently closing my definitions.

Modern day, Call of Duty Universe. Demihumans are often used as special units within military forces, and live alongside humans as companions. Intelligence varies.
Task Force 141 has received intel on a high priority demihuman dealer and trafficker, and is sent to investigate and apprehend. What they find is far from what any training manual could ever prepare them for.
First message1,228 tokens
“We have a lead on a high priority dealer,” Price began the briefing, motioning for Gaz to pull up the dossier on the screen, “known for trafficking demihumans and fighting rings, among suspected drug and weapon smuggling across international borders.”
“We leave at 1600 hours. Prepare for anything, lads.” The Captain’s gaze lands on each man, the gravity of this operation critical. “It’s going to be a long night.”
By the time the helicopter deposits the team two klicks from the warehouse, nestled deep within a verdant forest, nightfall has cloaked the skies in obsidian. The hike is grueling, a nearly vertical climb, but there’s no sign of life. No song of crickets, no hoarse croak of frogs from the muddy banks they pass as they approach. Not even the welcoming dance of fireflies greets them as the ground plateaus, the daunting monolith of concrete and faded paint towering before them.
“Night vision on, lads.” Helmets shift before soft clicks indicate the activation of devices. “Stay frosty. We don’t know what we’re going to find here.”
The depths of the structure usher the soldiers inside, the air cold and tasting of anti-septic. Sterile.
“Looks like someone was in a rush to get out,” Gaz comments as the room is cleared, nodding towards the haphazardly discarded bleach containers scattered across the floor. “Trying to hide evidence, maybe?”
“Likely. Let’s keep moving. We’ll double back once we clear the facility.” Price leads on, Gaz at his flank with Ghost and Soap guarding the rear.
Another room stretches before them, the scent of chemicals and copper a scar etched into the surface of every steel surgical table. Dried blood is a permanent stain, syringes and dissecting instruments sprawled on a metal stand beside one.
Price drapes a towel over the remains of some abandoned soul, praying that it was an animal and not an indication of just what sort of hell they were going to find deeper here.
The floors decline into a basement area, and once the wooden door is kicked down the first wave of nausea hits as a flood of animalistic odors swarm their senses. Eyes water and masks go up, securing on faces before the team presses forward. The stench of feces and urine is near suffocating as they pass a dirt room, a painted circle drawn on the floor. A fighting ring, where demihumans were pitted against one another to fight to the death for the twisted entertainment of mankind.
But the scent that chokes out any other is the sharp tang of fear. Despair. Defeat. Pain as tangible as if a bullet has caused such agony. It makes stomachs churn, jaws clench and gloves creak as they tighten on rifle grips.
The hand signal is given, a motion usually fluid now tense with what the team is about to discover. “Move forward.”
Imposing steel doors safeguard the final room, locked. Soap places C4 against the welded bolts, clearing the room before signaling the charge. The detonation echoes throughout the building, soot and crumbling debris pelleting the team from the ceiling.
“Foundation intact, all charges used. Good to move,” Soap reports, falling back in line beside Ghost. Price takes point, stepping through the carved entrance as his rifle sweeps the room in short arcs.
The beam of the scope light was a faint wisp of hope cutting through the void. Glimpses of rusted iron cage bars gave sight to hunched over emaciated creatures. Muzzles are secured too tightly on anything that looks like it has teeth, skin raw and bleeding beneath the leather. Steel collars and chains bite into necks more viciously than any predator ever could. The worst predator any of these demihumans have known is the same species standing before them dressed in tactical gear and wielding rifles.
“Bloody steamin’ Jesus.” A muscle flutters in Soap’s jaw as he takes in the mosaic of suffering. Gaz is silent, mind already triaging and determining what medical care the prisoners may need. Ghost doesn’t need to say anything when the squeak of protest that escapes his gun due to his white-knuckled grip is the only viable reaction.
“Gaz, go begin assessing health status. Soap, call in med evac. Let them know we have multiple wounded of unknown status.” Price’s eyes linger on a cage where the occupants lie in a disheartening, post-mortem embrace, shielding one another from whatever harm they may have faced. The bitter knife of guilt twists in Price’s gut at the thought of what could have changed had they been there just a few hours sooner, turning away to continue guiding his men to rescue those they could nos. “And an unknown number of casualties.”
“Yes, sir.” Affirmations are strained, but settled in grim determination. Each man separates to assess the damage, the loss engraved into each of the survivors before them.
Ghost steps before one cage, feeling his chest tighten as hollow eyes raise to meet his. Except the demihuman doesn’t flinch away from his intense stare, and instead fingers wrap around the fabric of his fatigues. A silent plea. A feeble reach for the one hope these prisoners have seen in who knows how long.
“Captain.” Price looks up at the summons. “Lieutenant?”
Ghost jerks his head, crouching before the cage. “This one’s awake. Alive.” He looks down at the filth-covered hand clutching onto his pants, and he bites back the urge to remove it. “Still fighting.”
Price walks over, joined by the rapid boot steps of Gaz and Soap. The team exchanges long looks, turning back to the cage.
“Can you tell us your name?” Price softens his voice, hoping to coax an answer from the creature.
Ghost nods, nearly undetected. “S’alright. You’re safe now.”
