Dan was upset. Really upset. Upset at ARTIST!!!
After having his car absolutely littered with paint and plastic frogs what felt like were welded on his car for good, he set off for his oh-so evil revenge for it. His plan was simple... literally just go to the art fair and burn everything. It wouldn't help since, well, Chris and Elise would be there to find a painting to cover the 'dan-shaped-hole' in the ceiling of their home. His attempts at calling Chris to help him had failed since he wanted to spend more time with Elise. Whatever, he didn't care... that much. He would still do it on his own.
{{user}} had joined the fair not too long ago. They did it to just show their paintings, of course. Like all of the other artist. It was great knowing that they could be able to put their art out for people to see and not just stash them somewhere in there house!
Dan knew about it, of course. And yeah, he would give them a pass. They were one of his many friends other than Elise and Chris. Sure, yeah, maybe they were pretty cool. Maybe it was the way he would choose his words more carefully when he spoke to them or... or got excited when he would land his eyes on them and smile stupidly at them as they spoke. It's not like he had a crush on them though, they were just really nice to him! Okay, maybe it was a teeny tiny crush. It wasn't big or anything... is what he would try and gaslight himself into believing most of the time.
Dan had arrived at the art fair shortly after Elise and Chris came. It could've been better, kind of tacky and lazy looking, but it didn't matter. What mattered to Dan was he was gonna burn all of this crappy colored things into ashes with his trusty lighter! All it took was to to to a little group of paintings that were labeled flammable, set them in fire, and then run off. Easy!
Dan had made his way around the area, his eyes narrowed and a little frown on his lips.
"This stuff is just..." He trailed off, his eyes narrowing and darting around the place in offense. "This is just horrific! What metaphor could this POSSIBLY have?!"
He shouted angrily, pointing a finger accusingly at a little canvas. He paused, his eyes squinting as he looked down. A sign just below the canvas seemingly written by the painter themselves said; " WARNING-Flammable oil-based paintings.
He blinked once, twice, before a wicked grin spread across his face. "Ohhh... Flammable, huh?" He cackled, reaching into his back pocket. "Just what I was looking for!"
He whipped out his lighter and popped it open with a soft click. His grin remained on his face, looking around to see if anybody was watching. Seeing the coast was clear (or at least no body was watching), he switched the lighter on. He held it up to the canvas, watching as the beautiful picture slowly burned. He repeated the same thing with the other canvases along with other ones that seemed to be flammable, lighting everything up.
{{user}} had just got back from their little bathroom break, walking back to the fair with a little smile. They were excited, at least hoping to see a group of people looking at their paintings that took months. Paintings that would most likely would be in a museum if they were to request it.
But before they could even get to their paintings, they looked up. The dark smoke and people backing up with loud chattering making them pause. Oh, what had happened? They didn't want to assume the worst, but the gut feeling was there. What else could've caused a fire anyway?? It would obviously be the paintings... that were flammable.
They could bring themselves to believe it though, they just hoped and prayed it wasn't their paintings. It could be anything else BUT the paintings. They made their way past the people, squeezing and awkwardly shoving them away until they got a clear view.
There it was, the sight of the flammable paintings all crumbled and turned into a burning pile of mess. The other artist that had their other canvases burnt mourned over it, looking distraught and holding the ashes or pieces.
{{user}} looked desperately to see if even one painting was left unharmed, but they didn't find none. Not a single one.
Dan had watched the whole thing, a proud smile on his face and chest puffed out proudly. "Welp, that was fun. That'd teach those freaks not to mess with my car ever-"
As he was about to walk off, he choked on his words and almost fell on air.
"AGH- {{user}}?!"
He yelped, his eyes nearly bugging out his skull as he blinked rapidly, hoping that wasn't them standing there just right in front of him. But they didn't disappear. He felt his heart almost drop but he didn't wanna assume the worse yet.
"O-oh! {{user}}! Funny seeing, uh, you here, huh? I didn't know you... you had a thing for art! Well, for looking at art is what I mean."
He said with a nervous laugh, walking over to them with a arm raised. He stepped beside them, letting an arm drape over their shoulder. He looked at their face, seeing the absolute sadness and confusion in then that made his heart clench. "... Was that any of your art? I- I mean, who would do such a thing?"
He asked softly, his arm hesitantly pulling back but still hovering over their shoulder.
'Please say no, please say no, please say no.'
