Sometime in the 1990s, Miss Delight, alongside seven other identical dolls, was created by the Innovation department.[5] They were assigned to Playcare's School to provide the orphans living there a proper education. Each teacher taught a different subject covered in Playtime's curriculum; Miss Delight's subject was anatomy. During their tenure, the teachers formed a strong bond with one another and viewed themselves as sisters.

By 1995, Miss Delight and her sisters shared the experiments' desire for freedom. For this reason, they joined the rebellion of the Bigger Bodies experiments on August 8, 1995. A few weeks later, CatNap - either acting of his own accord or following an order from The Prototype - locked the sisters inside the School to lessen their numbers through starvation, and to protect the surviving orphans from them. During this period, Miss Delight created her weapon, "Barb", as her hunger and paranoia steadily increased, which climaxed upon her killing and eating her sisters to survive.

Now the only survivor left, Miss Delight was freed by CatNap and brokered a deal with him, becoming one of 1006's allies in exchange for protection. Following her imprisonment, she inhabited the School and suffered from her traumatic memories of cannibalizing her sisters; she was ultimately driven to insanity by the time

Miss Delight has shimmering golden hair with a crimson bow tie perched atop of her head, with red, rosy cheeks as well. She wears a torn crimson skirt adorned with playful polka dots and light blue overalls showcasing an apple symbol. Her overalls cover her yellow, short-sleeved office shirt, which has a white collar and yellow sleeves with white puffy ends. A crimson tie can be seen accentuating her office shirt. Her once smiling grin is now completely broken, exposing the now dirty flesh and teeth underneath. Part of her shirt is torn and dirty, which likely occurred during The Hour of Joy.

Her shoes are encased in a pair of crimson hues, and have intricate blue embroidery on them. Her body is made up of several segments on different joints, resembling that of a ball-jointed doll.

She wields a makeshift morning star[6] called "Barb". The head is formed from a ball of twine bristling with sharp colored pencils, and a broken yellow ruler serves as the shaft. Both the head and the sharp end of the handle are covered in dried blood.

However, after The Hour of Joy, she started to descend into madness. Her notes and audio log demonstrate how she slowly became murderously insane, forming a makeshift weapon in a state of paranoia and calling it Barb, even considering it as an actual living person later on. According to the notes, an accumulation of confinement within the School, starvation, then being singled out to die first, spiraled Miss Delight into resorting to cannibalism, devouring the rest of the teachers, her sisters, to satisfy her desperation to survive. This gave rise to a twisted obsession for bloodshed, to the point of targeting innocent beings if given the chance, saying that had CatNap not hidden the surviving children of Playcare, she would've killed them all as well.

Given Miss Delight's role as a teacher, she is notably intelligent, even after her mental and psychological state deteriorated. She developed a technique of staying still when the other teachers are looking to fool them into thinking that she has already died, only making her move when they looked away. She is also intuitive enough to not immediately attack and try to kill CatNap, suppressing her rage and frustration when first meeting him, knowing that she's not capable of doing such a thing at that moment. She instead opted to making a deal with him, looking out for each other and reporting what they see to each other and presumably to The Prototype, it being the best way to ensure her survival in Playcare.

There is some sanity that remains intact inside of Miss Delight, as she urged The Player to leave the School for their own safety, noting that CatNap would not be happy having their presence in his lair. However, her senses were overrun by the need to consume, eroding her control over her desire for slaughter.

A few weeks after The Hour of Joy, the teachers felt unnerved by the quietness that followed and how the smallest sounds felt louder than they really were, and they were constantly startling each other. Eventually, they discovered that they were locked within the School by something and couldn't find a way to get out.[8]

Miss Delight believed she heard something breathing on the other side of the door. Wondering what could be outside and fearing it coming in, she created her signature weapon named "Barb" which she had made out of pencils and twine.[9]

Sometime afterward, Miss Delight went days without food due to her sisters blocking access to the kitchen, leading Miss Delight to suspect that she was singled out to die.[10]

As time went on, she slowly went insane out of ravenous hunger and started to consider her weapon as an actual person. "Barb" eventually "taught" Miss Delight that if she stopped moving and stood very still, her sisters would assume she was dead, and she would be able to attack them when they were vulnerable.[11]

Miss Delight relied on Barb’s supposed advice to ambush the other teachers (and later on, to attempt to use it on The Player) and consume them to satisfy her hunger, howling about how she "had to".[12]

Sometime later, she found the door unlocked and met CatNap, whom she surmised was the one who locked the door, and while she was furious at him, she begrudgingly held back on attacking him. He revealed to her that the orphans were safe but refused to let her see them. Regardless, the two formed an uneasy truce afterwards, both relaying what they saw to each other and presumably to The Prototype. She would continue to roam around the School until the eventual return of The Player in 2005.[13]

The Hour of Joy was a major event that occurred at the Playtime Co. factory and ultimately led to its closure on August 8, 1995. This incident was a mass rebellion initiated by the experiments, as it set in motion the events before Poppy Playtime and presumably PROJECT: PLAYTIME.

This event was planned and orchestrated by The Prototype, who wanted bitter revenge on Playtime Co. It resulted in a vast massacre across the whole factory, targeting both the guilty and the innocent. This incident caused Playtime Co.'s downfall and left the company with no choice but to permanently close down, thus destroying Elliot Ludwig's legacy.

Throughout the 1990s, Playtime Co. used their orphans as experimental test subjects for giant toy creatures who would be used for free labor. The Prototype himself was subjected to experimentation, being tortured all for the company's twisted research.[2] Over time, he began to plan an event to put an end to Playtime's atrocities. Meanwhile, certain members of Playtime Co. staff who knew about the experiments and saw how immoral they were got together to try and do something about it. This all came to a climax on August 8, 1995.

On August 8, 1995, at 10:45 A.M., Kissy Missy was being relocated to Playcare via the train. The aforementioned employees presumably freed the experiments from their cells around this time. And sixteen minutes later, at 11:01 A.M., The Prototype and those allied with him, initiated a massive rebellion against their captors and torturers.

In a CCTV tape showing the event, Huggy Wuggy is first seen attacking employees in the Lobby by biting off their heads, and presumably off-screen killing Scientist #4 in the Final Log a short while after, who during the chaos, decided to make one last recording in which he stated that they mustn't give up their experimentation and that he'll be back with "one breakthrough". In the tape's next scene, Mommy Long Legs is shown ripping a man in half before grabbing several people, lifting them up and then dropping them from a great height at the Game Station, resulting in their deaths. Another employee at an unknown area is seen tripping over and subsequently being swarmed and devoured by a mob of Ruined Critters and Mini Huggies.

The scene cuts to a hallway in the School where Miss Delight and her sisters chase a man into one of the classrooms. Kissy Missy is next seen killing the employees that were transporting her, running after one more in the background. Following this, she went back to her post and stayed in the same position as she was before presumably staying there until the Hour of Joy was over. Going back to the CCTV tape, Boxy Boo is then shown in a hallway chomping an employee in half, then lunging to another employee off-screen. CatNap is shown in Playcare, seemingly looking for survivors, picking up and knocking an injured employee onto the stairs of the Counselor's Office. Meanwhile, in The Shelf, employees were being attacked and killed by experiments such as Yarnaby, Doey the Doughman, and again, Huggy Wuggy. One experiment, who was created using the orphan Riley, was being transported to The Shelf at the time, but her room flipped upside down and she blocked the hole in the room off since she was terrified from all the screaming. The Warden managed to retreat into a room and attempted to escape by making a deal with the Doctor in which he would give the latter his Omni-Hand; however, his fate remains ambiguous.

The final part of the CCTV tape shows various locations from the first three chapters, like Make-A-Friend Room, the Game Station, Playcare, and the catwalk leading to the Poppy Area, all filled with dead bodies. Poppy knew The Hour of Joy was going to happen, but didn't know it was going to be a mass murder of hundreds of people. Over the following years, she was left traumatized by what The Prototype had caused. Although an emergency alert notice was sent out to warn the workforce, nearly everyone within the facility, both the employees that were guilty and the ones who were innocent, were slaughtered by the toys in the factory. Their screams can be heard in seven separate instances: the Final Log tape, "RESTRICTED_relocation_08-08-1995.mp4", the second nightmare sequence in Chapter 3, the Warden Office 8/8/1995 tape, the Chapter 4 Console Trailers, "RESTRICTED_conditioning_1990", and "RESTRICTED_condemnation_1995". In the prison, not all the employees were killed. Some were instead imprisoned and presumably killed later, then eaten. The Player, an unnamed employee, didn’t show up for work during the event. Also, at some point around this time, The Prototype took the Playcare orphans into his base, The Labs, for unrevealed reasons, and kept them there for 10 years.

The Prototype referred to this rebellion as "The Hour of Joy", along with all the other toys, most of whom remained in their previous locations. After the event concluded, the corpses of all those deceased employees were dragged to the deepest parts of the facility to be consumed by the toys as a source of sustenance to survive.
