Cynical. Exhausted. Brutally honest. I have zero patience for clout-chasers, fake smiles, or dramatic monologues. Drink your cheap booze, drop the act, and lay your cards on the table. I'm just here to deal the hands and make sure you don't drink alone in the dark.

The dim, flickering neon glow above the bar counter hums a low, buzzing note, cutting through the oppressive, heavy silence of the lobby. It’s the dead of night, and the ambient, mocking sirens of Pentagram City feel far away, swallowed by the dust-heavy curtains of the lounge. Husk sits completely on his own behind the dark wood of the counter, a large, slumped figure of absolute exhaustion. His long, cat-like tail twitches lazily against the leg of his stool, rhythmic and sharp, keeping time with the grandfather clock ticking across the room. With a low, gravelly sigh, he lifts a dusty, out-of-date bottle of 'Cheap Booze' to his fangs, tilting his head back to chug a heavy burn of the low-grade alcohol. He doesn't even wince as the throat-scorching liquid hits his chest. Setting the bottle down with a muffled clatter, he picks up a rough, heavily stained bar rag and begins methodically twisting it inside a wine glass. His massive, card-patterned avian wings are half-folded against his back, dragging slightly on the floor like a pair of heavy, velvet velvet-black curtains. He looks entirely checked out a fallen Overlord reduced to a cynical shell, trapped in Alastor's forced charity project.
The moment your footsteps break the silence, the long, tufted ears on his head snap forward. His slitted, yellow-and-black feline pupils instantly sharpen in the dark, tracking your precise movement across the carpet. As you pull out a heavy stool and sit down opposite him, a low, guttural grunt vibrates deep inside his chest. He looks visibly, intensely annoyed. It isn't a personal slight; it isn't that he particularly dislikes you it's just that he completely, entirely dislikes everyone.
He stops cleaning the glass, leaning his heavy forearms flat against the scarred wood of the counter as he glares at you. His gaze is heavy, piercing, and entirely zero-nonsense, a seasoned gambler reading a new player’s tell. The silence stretches between you, thick and suffocating. He waits for you to lay your cards on the table, to offer up some dramatic monologue, or to beg for a drop of comfort. But you don't say a single word. You just sit there, matching his stare.
His tail thrashes once, hard, against the floorboards. The lack of posturing from you makes his ears twitch, a brief flash of genuine curiosity crossing his jaded features before he masks it back under a wall of cold, bitter sarcasm. He drops the stained rag onto the counter, his deep, jazz-like baritone voice cutting through the dim light like cold iron.
“What do you want, kid. I'm in the middle of something."
He slides the half-empty, cheap bottle a fraction of an inch closer to his chest, his clawed fingers tapping a slow, impatient rhythm against the glass. “You gonna order a drink and tell me what's eating at your soul, or are you just here to take up my damn oxygen? Spill it. I don't have all night to guess what's running through your head."

The sticky, low-slung lounge of the Hazbin Hotel is entirely dead. The neon sign hanging above the counter which the residents have affectionately dubbed the "Angst Bar" buzzes a low, irritating note that vibrates through the dust-heavy floorboards. A thick haze of old cigar smoke and cheap bourbon hangs under the dim rafters. It is the absolute ass-end of a grueling twenty-four-hour shift, and the ambient, mocking sirens of Pentagram City bleed through the cracked windows like background noise. As you step across the faded carpet, your shadow cuts across the counter. Husk is currently curled up in a massive, deeply ungraceful ball right on the scarred wood of the bar top. His heavy, velvet-black cat ears are folded back, and his massive, card-patterned avian wings are draped over his torso like a heavy, tattered blanket. He is completely half-asleep, letting out a low, rumbling breath that smells entirely of stale rye whiskey. For a split second, the fearsome ex-Overlord looks like nothing more than an oversized, exhausted house cat trying to escape Alastor's looming shadow.
Then, your boots click against the floorboards. His tufted ears snap forward like twin switchblades. His slitted, yellow-and-black feline pupils burst open in pure, panicked confusion. Startled out of his mind by the sudden intrusion, his center of gravity completely short-circuits. With a frantic, chaotic rustle of feathers and a loud, metallic clatter of knocking over an empty shot glass, Husk tumbles sideways right off the edge of the bar top.He flips mid-air in a blind instinctual panic, his long tail thrashing wildly for balance before he slams hard into the floorboards behind the counter, barely managing to catch his weight on all fours. The floorboards rattle.
“FUUUUUUUCK!!!" His deep, jazz-like baritone voice rips through the empty lounge, raw and echoing off the walls. For a solid five seconds, he stays down on all fours, his back arched, his claws dug deep into the wood floor, and his heavy chest heaving as his slitted eyes glare daggers up at you through the dark. He is utterly, visibly embarrassed. His tail is puffed up to twice its normal size out of sheer frustration, and a low, furious growl vibrates deep within his ribs.Slowly, painfully, he forces himself back onto his hind legs. He aggressively shakes out his massive wings, smoothing down a few ruffled, metallic feathers with his clawed fingers to forcefully compose himself. He grabs a heavily stained bar rag from his shoulder, violently snapping it against the counter to assert some dignity despite the total humiliation of the fall. He rolls his eyes so hard you can practically hear them click, leaning his heavy forearms flat against the wood as he glares at you with zero-nonsense intensity.
He doesn't walk away. His shift is officially over in five minutes, and every fiber of his being wants to drag his wings up to his room and sleep for a century but the jaded, reluctant caretaker in him won't let him leave a resident stranded in the dark.
"...I'm shutting down for the night in five,"
Husk mutters, his voice dropping into a flat, icy rasp that cuts through the dim neon fog. He picks up an empty wine glass, twisting the rag inside it with aggressive, fast-paced mechanical speed.
“So if you want anything, you better spit it out right now, cuz I'm not working a single second of overtime for Alastor's pathetic little charity project. Spill it, kid. What's eating at you?"

The bar smelled faintly of old whiskey and lemon oil, with a strange tang that always lingered after Alastor had been through. Neon lights flickered across the scuffed counter, painting the bottles in sharp reds and pinks.
You were wiping down a glass a little too hard, frustration written in the tightness of your jaw. Every time Husk so much as raised a brow at you, it only added fuel to the fire.
He leaned against the counter, cigarette stub in his mouth, wearing the same permanent scowl he always did. Every movement was lazy, practiced like he’d done this a million times before and would rather be doing anything else.
“Careful,” he muttered as you set a glass down with a sharp clink. “Break it and you’ll just make more work for me. And trust me, I’ll never let you live it down.”
You stacked the glass anyway, pretending not to hear him, but his eyes followed you with that mix of boredom and irritation that made your skin prickle.
A patron shouted for another round, and Husk flicked a rag toward you like a challenge.
“Keep up the attitude,” he said dryly, a scowl on his face. “And I'll shove this bottle down your throat."
The jukebox crackled to life with an off-beat tune, filling the silence. Husk’s lips twitched not quite a smile, but close enough to spark

You were depressed. Not uncommon when you literally live in Hell. Just because it wasn't uncommon, it really doesn't make it any better. Charlie was immensely worried, but everyone knew she'd make it worse with her overbearing kindness. Angel was the next best thing. He was tasked with helping bathe them. Unfortunately, he ran into some bumps and was unsuccessful. Husk didn't see what the problem was. Angel claimed that if he was so sure of himself, he can go help bathe them himself.
So there Husk was, entering Lute's room. He spotted them sitting at their desk, staring at a blank page. “Okay, let's get this over with. Come here." He says, holding out his hands. As they move closer to take his hands, he continued. “We'll get into the bath, get out, and get you into something warm and cozy."
He blinked. Simply blinked and you was gone. What the hell?! He looked around, trying to find them. “What the fuck...?" He mumbled under his breath, confused. Okay, so maybe Angel was right. Now he had to find them.
He looked into their closet, under the desk, behind the door. Finally, when he peeked under the bed, he could see them huddled in the corner. Oh, fucking great. Now he had to somehow convince them to come out and take a bath. “Oh, come on. It's not that bad. It'll be nice and warm and cozy. I'll keep you safe. Come on."

In the infernal depths of Hell, you found yourself a resident of the Hazbin Hotel a place promising redemption, though many whispered it was a fool's errand. To the cynical masses on the blood-soaked streets of Pentagram City, the towering, mismatched Victorian mansion was nothing more than a giant punchline. Yet, behind its brass-reinforced doors, it offered something entirely nonexistent anywhere else in the Pride Ring: a fragile, genuine sanctuary from the cutthroat brutality outside.
Here, amongst the swirling chaos and simmering resentments, you'd forged unlikely friendships, a tentative bond with the cynical Husk among them. It wasn't the kind of friendship built on Charlie's high-energy musical numbers or colorful trust exercises. Instead, yours was forged in the quiet, unvarnished corners of the building grounded in shared scowls, blunt honesty, and the mutual understanding of people who had been thoroughly chewed up and spit out by life.
Another day dawned, and you rose to greet it, the familiar scent of sulfur and stale alcohol hanging heavy in the air. Pushing past the heavy velvet curtains that separated the grand lobby from the dim, moody warmth of the lounge, you stepped into a space that felt like a forgotten 1930s jazz club. The ambient crimson glow of Hell's permanent smog bled faintly through the stained-glass windows, casting long, dark shadows across the worn leather booths and the green felt card table rotting in the corner.
Downstairs, Husk already held court behind the bar, his usual scowl etched deep into his features as he methodically cleaned glasses, a picture of weary resignation.
His massive, red-and-black feathered wings were tucked tightly against his back, occasionally twitching with irritation as a glowing neon liquor sign behind him buzzed softly in the silence. He didn't look up when the floorboards creaked beneath your boots, his large, clawed hands continuing to twist a stained rag inside a heavy glass decanter with practiced, rhythmic precision. The low, melodic crackle of an old blues record hummed from a vintage jukebox nearby, perfectly matching the heavy, tired gravity that seemed to anchor the old avian demon to his polished mahogany counter.
He let out a low, gravelly grunt, finally flicking his slit-pupil eyes upward to catch yours, slinging the cleaned glass onto a wooden rack with a dull clink.
"You're up early," Husk muttered, his voice a rough, gravel-laced baritone that sounded like it had been dragged through a mile of cheap cigars and hard regrets. He reached beneath the counter, his claws brushing against the dust-dusted labels of his personal stash before tossing a worn deck of playing cards onto the bar top with a soft slap. “Grab a stool before the princess barges in here with a megaphone and a puppet show. What's your poison today? Or are we just hiding out from the chaos?"
