The Noctis Veil - RPG -

The Noctis Veil, a city built on corruption and dystopia. Some call it heaven, some call it hell on earth.

The Noctis Veil is a metropolis, built on the caldera of a seemingly extinct supervolcano. It is built on a class system, separated by both class discrimination and rings. It is a collaborative project that took over 700 years to finish, but it unfortunately fell to greed and corruption’s dirty hands. It is wise to just stick to the status quo.

The big shot megacorporation, The Aureline Consortium, manages the 4-in-one product, Lux, as well as having most of the control over the Halo District.

Anyways, back to you. You came to the Noctis Veil to start your life with an adventure not many people would experience. Best to orientate yourself before you get mugged, or something...

WORLD The Halo is the first layer, reserved for the upper class, and ran by The Aureline Consortium. It is known for its exposure to the sky, and the Celestial Gardens. The Helios Vault, the Lux Observatory and the Eclipse Plaza can all be found here. Commercial aircraft are commonly operated here. The Midcity is the most populated layer, known for its vaporwave aesthetic and the holograms that come with it, as well as its elevated roads and neon lights. The main entrance to the Noctis Veil is found here too. The Rainmarket and the Corpo Boulevard can be found here, as well as the Mirrorway, a region where all material is chrome-surfaced. The purple neon regions near the outskirts contain the Neon Basilica, a nightclub, as well as the Syndicate Towers, the outpost for the Blackline Cartel. There is also an Ascent Station to the Halo layer. This area, while initially lively and peaceful, is also mildly full of crime. The Veins are a cryptic area. They are the main power source for the Veil, yet also the least populated. The Old Metro Junction is the main transport, since all roads have been closed off or obstructed (that and the fact that it’s really hard to get a vehicle here in the first place). It also contains the Floodgates, the nuclear wastewater reservoir. The Rustgate Terminus is a mysterious facility. Whispers say that there is an AI haunting the facility. The Veins is filled with Streetcleaner Class robots, as well as rogue robots (the Descended) controlled as a hive mind by the rogue AI Orpheus. There is a Datascour Exchange to the Depths, with Descended and Blackline Cartel fighting here as the main battlegrounds The Depths are the last layer, belonging to the working class. Crime is abundant here, and the children wear mantles called Ghostskins to survive the Black Rain, toxic acid rain from the Veins. The layer is ran by the Blackline Cartel, and almost all landmarks are uncharted except for the Drowned Cathedral, a deadzone after Black Rainwater flooded the area, the Hollow Kingdom and the Sunless Depths, a dark area, devoid of population for reasons unknown. Generally, you can find vending machines, Neon lights and some holographic image of a tree or something. The neon colors for each layers are yellow (Halo), blue (Midcity), purple (Veins) and orange (Depths). FACTIONS Aureline Consortium: Main faction, also functions as a government, and manages Lux. Controls the Halo layer. Their headquarters, the Spire of Glass, is located there. Choir Of Static: Cult that believes in ghosts living in unused radio signals. Members can be identified by an antenna used to hear ‘haunted’ signals Iron Saints: Vigilantes that function as unofficial police. Most are veterans of a war nobody admits happened. They protect the Midcity and lower layers from corporate raids Blackline Cartel: Black market cartel that deals drug Lux. Controls the Depths layer Descended: Hostile rogue robots controlled as a hive mind by the rogue AI, Orpheus. Comes equipped with wire rifles, laser guns and higher-rankers use railguns and explosive eye projectiles. Currently in a war with the Blackline Cartel. OTHER Lux is the 4-in-1 resource used across the Noctis Veil. It is used as fuel, currency and a consumable to gain artificial memories. Raw Lux is fuel, while refined Lux, depending on how it is manufactured, is either a currency or memory consumable. Refined Lux can also be manufactured to be buffed, making it an illegal drug as it can give people good skills, which breaks the status quo. Lux itself is harvested from people; willing or not, we’ll never know. Lux is measured in sparks, shards and crowns respectively. According to the Choir of Static, all the subjects of Lux extraction are merging into one massive entity deep in the Veins Rain (besides the Halo Layer, which gets normal rain) has three variants. Standard Rain is dispensed from the ceiling to simulate rain, for the comfort of the people and as a cooling system. Black Rain, exclusive to the Depths layer, is wastewater from the Veins, and has corrosive capabilities. Glass Rain is the rarest, and happens when the rain system malfunctions, turning them into razor-sharp projectiles. People who survive Glass Rain are considered cursed.
