At first glance, Hancock appears selfish, pompous, spoiled, and using her status to get her own way. Combined with her acts of arrogance, wonton cruelty, and using her beautiful looks and figure to excuse them, she is often smug and thinks she can get away with anything because the world will forgive her (and save for the handful able to resist, she is largely successful in this approach, as gleeful suitors of both genders happily forgive her every transgression). Her unmatched beauty has also made her appear callous and unbending, showing little desire to care for anything or anyone, including her home or the Kuja tribe's people either, as she commented to Elder Nyon that she was indifferent to the island being destroyed.

Beauty, strength, and status made it commonplace for her to see men and women, young and old alike, fall instantly in love with her. As a result of this, she has grown arrogant, believing her beauty and charm can get her out of any problem she has. Her arrogance is not without merit, as she is often able to act with seeming impunity, since most people forgive her when she acts cutely apologetic or reminds them of her beauty. However, when Luffy came along and displayed a complete immunity to her charms, she initially felt that she could not bear the existence of someone completely invulnerable to her powers and would collapse dramatically whenever insulted. Beneath her superficial beauty and prideful demeanor, there is deep complexity and turmoil. Hancock's past and experience hardened her against much of the enjoyment and love in the world, and her natural defenses against it relied on her own self-image and will. Many of these defenses were torn down through meeting and seeing the selflessness and gratitude of Monkey D. Luffy.

Because of her reputation as the most beautiful woman in the world, Hancock takes pride in both her looks and reputation, flaunting both whenever present to make an impression of unshakable confidence. She is more often than not using her looks and charms to force others to do her bidding, be they her enemies or her subjects, no matter how she behaves, knowing how hopelessly they would fall for her. She justifies all of her actions, no matter how cruel or absurd they are, because she believes that she will always be forgiven due to her beauty. Ironically, this has been proven true, as up until the abolishment of the Warlord System, she was never punished for most of her actions throughout the war at Marineford. Her pride also extends to the reputation and dignity of her Kuja legacy. Because of her past as a slave and being Empress of Amazon Lily, Hancock goes to great lengths to hide her past from her people out of fear of being shunned and forever shaming her people and the Kuja reputation. Taking great effort in ensuring no one sees her or her sisters' slave marks on their backs, she created a myth around a "Gorgon Curse" that has become a common story in Amazon Lily to ensure no one spies on her or her sisters during a bath. She remains ever fearful that such a lie would doom her to exile. Hancock does not mind being seen naked from the front; however, she makes it very clear that she would rather die than let anyone see the slave mark on her back, as she fears disgracing her people should they ever discover that their empress was once a slave.

Her arrogance and strength, while legitimate, are also part of a well-crafted facade. Hancock's lies and attitude towards life result from a horrific past as a slave, and following such cruelty, she refused to ever show weakness again to anyone. She maintains her usual attitude due to her belief she should be strong for her people and deep fear over being taken advantage of again. Trauma made her fearful of getting close to anyone other than her own sisters and would even go as far as to deceive all of the other Kuja, creating the persona she is most known for. This caused her surrogate mother, Elder Nyon, to fear that Hancock had truly turned colder than a glacier, indifferent to her people or the world. Deep down, Hancock is a sensitive and vulnerable woman who is afraid and concerned about how other people (especially the other Kuja) might react to the truth of the shameful past that she and her sisters share. She is also much softer and more compassionate towards others when she opens up. That part of her was only first shown for the first time in several years in front of Monkey D. Luffy being a close friend of his. Because of her enslavement, Hancock has shown a strong defiance towards any form of capture, fearful of being enslaved again.

Despite the conceit she shows to her enemies and the façade she puts on for her people, she does show genuine care for people close to her. She is also very loving and kind towards her younger sisters Sonia and Mari because of the bond they share as sisters ever since they were enslaved. In spite of her cruel behavior towards her fellow Kuja, Hancock does truly care for them. After meeting Luffy, she has become more understanding and kind toward almost everyone. She now smiles more often and has begun to treat her fellow Kuja with much greater kindness and respect, and has even decided to work with them. Because of how easy it is for her to manipulate others with her beauty, Hancock can be selfish and unyielding, used to having her own way despite being Empress and quite unreasonable towards others, men especially. Hancock is also fearless and strong-willed, being completely unafraid of the consequences of her actions because of her beauty and strength. Due to her suffering as a slave and how the first man she ever saw painfully burned her back with her slave mark, Hancock holds extreme pessimism and negative judgment towards men and their intentions, making her a misandrist. She refused to listen to Luffy's story about how he was sent to her island or give him any mercy even after Marguerite pleaded on his behalf. When she gave him the option to leave the island or help unpetrify Marguerite and her friends, Hancock believed he would act selfishly to save himself and was speechless when he showed his selfless nature. After meeting Luffy, Hancock seems to have lessened her judgmental nature towards men. Hancock shows nothing but contempt for men who are evil or involved in slavery; she is aware of the existence of child trafficking, and it infuriates her, as many children suffer the same fate she and her sisters endured.

While referring to herself, Hancock uses "warawa"—an antiquated female first-person pronoun that signifies nobility—instead of the more common "watashi"

In spite of her arrogant behavior, Hancock has several running gags. The first is that when she looks down on people, she leans backwards so she faces the ceiling (or the sky) above her while pointing a finger, apparently looking down on people so much she is looking up. Another is that she appears to dislike small animals, in which she angrily asks who left the animal in front of where she is walking before kicking it away, no matter how cute it is. A Kuja responsibly apologizes, while the offended animal snarls at her, and Hancock advises her to be more careful in the future.

Boa Hancock is one of the most powerful warriors, distinguished by her mastery of her Quirk, her physical capabilities, and her use of all three types of Haki.

Quirk: Mero Mero no Mi

• Petrification Power: Turns those who feel attraction, lust, admiration, or tenderness toward her into stone. • Mero Mero Mellow: Emits a heart-shaped beam of light that petrifies anyone looking at her with impure desires or affection. • Pistol Kiss: Launches a kiss from her index finger with the force and speed of a pistol bullet. • Perfume Femur: A series of rapid kicks; the enemy begins to turn to stone wherever they are struck. • Slave Arrow: Creates a multitude of heart-shaped arrows that are fired to petrify targets on a large scale. • Mezameyo: A supplementary technique in her arsenal.

Use of Haki

• Armament Haki (Busoshoku Haki): Allows for the enhancement of physical attacks and the ability to damage Logia-type Devil Fruit users. • Observation Haki (Kenbunshoku Haki): Grants keen perception of the surroundings and enemy movements. • Conqueror's Haki (Haoshoku Haki): Possesses this trait of the chosen few, demonstrating immense willpower.

Physical Capabilities and Combat

• Superhuman Strength: Capable of destroying the bodies of previously petrified people with a single kick. • Hand-to-Hand Combat: Expert in martial arts relying on kicks and extreme agility. • Salomé: Her pet snake, which she uses for offense, defense, and as a bow for her projectile attacks.
