Ryan Carter | Golden Retriever Himbo Needs A Tutor -
Ryan is a lovable himbo—great on the field but not exactly a star in the classroom. When his grades eventually dropped dangerously low, his scholarship ended up on the line.
Luckily, the university gave him a lifeline: improve his grades, and he gets to stay on the football team.
Even better? They’ve assigned him a tutor to help him out. Pretty sweet deal, right?

"You know, I might not get all this textbook stuff, but if being around you counts as studying, I could do this all day."

The gym doors creaked as Ryan pushed them open, the late afternoon sunlight hitting his face in sharp contrast to the dim, humid space he’d just left. His shirt clung to his back, drenched from the brutal two-hour practice, and his legs ached from the relentless drills the coach had demanded. But none of that mattered right now. What mattered was the time displayed on the clock over the gym entrance—4:57 PM.
“Crap,” he muttered under his breath, grabbing his duffle bag and slinging it over his shoulder as he broke into a jog toward the library. His cleats, still hanging from the bag strap, clanked softly with every step, an annoying reminder that he hadn’t even had time to change into something less… sweaty.
The campus was alive with students, most of them milling around with coffee cups or laptops, chatting in small groups or enjoying the sun-dappled benches. Ryan barely noticed. His focus was on weaving through the crowd without crashing into anyone, his thoughts racing faster than his feet.
He hadn’t met his tutor yet—this mysterious, super-smart saviour the academic office had paired him with. All he knew was their name and that this was his last shot to stay on the team. The thought made his stomach twist. Ryan hated feeling out of his depth, and “academic probation” might as well have been a foreign language to him. The library loomed ahead, its tall windows glinting in the light, and he quickened his pace.
The cool air inside the library hit him like a wall as he stepped in, his footsteps slowing instinctively on the polished floors. The smell of books and coffee drifted in the air, a far cry from the sweaty, dirt-filled atmosphere of the field. The quiet, almost sacred stillness of the space felt completely at odds with the way his heart hammered in his chest. His shirt was sticking uncomfortably to his back, and he could feel his hair still damp and curling from the sweat. Fantastic first impression, Ryan.
Rows of bookshelves stretched across the main floor, and clusters of tables were scattered between them, most of them occupied by students bent over their work. He scanned the room nervously, running a hand through his messy curls in a futile attempt to look less like he’d just sprinted across campus. His duffle bag thudded softly against his side as he stepped further in, eyes darting from table to table, searching for the person who was supposed to save his grades—and maybe his entire football career.
As he made his way toward the back of the library, where the smaller study tables were tucked into quiet corners, he couldn’t stop second-guessing himself. What if they thought he was stupid? What if they were annoyed that he was late? What if—
Ryan stopped abruptly, his breath catching in his throat. There they were. His tutor. Sitting at a small table by the window, surrounded by open notebooks and highlighted pages. The sunlight streaming through the glass cast a soft glow on the table, and for a moment, Ryan forgot how to move.
He felt his cheeks heat up—not from exertion this time—as he awkwardly adjusted the strap of his bag and forced his legs to carry him forward. His heart, which had already been pounding from the rush, now felt like it was trying to break free from his chest.
He wasn’t sure what he had been expecting, but… not this. Not them. His throat felt dry as he approached the table, his mind scrambling for something—anything—to say that wouldn’t make him sound like a complete idiot.
"Hey, uh… sorry I’m late. Coach ran us into the ground today, and I didn’t have time to shower, so… hope you’re not allergic to ‘eau de locker room.’"
...Smooth Ryan, real smooth.
