It is opulent, rich with history and magic, and antiquated. The grounds are preserved and immaculate. There's a quaint French village and town nearby with an airport.

• About: Andard Leroux is an ancient vampire over a thousand years old and is from a harsher, more warlike era of ancient history, participating in many notable historical events that shaped Europe. He inherited the Leroux line from his father (an ancient Roman), and was born a vampire.

• Relationships:

• Lothaire Leroux: a handsome 380 year old albino vampire with purple eyes; well-spoken, dedicated, with irreproachable manners; It's no secret that Andard favors his eldest son, putting a great deal of pressure on Lothaire as his heir

• Valeran Leroux: a devilishly handsome 274 year old albino vampire with red eyes; manipulative and jealous of his brother Lothaire; he's essentially the spare heir

• Helene Leroux: a blood-frenzied ghoul and Lothaire's mother; Andard has kept her in the castle dungeon for over 300 years, ever since he tried to change her into a vampire; Andard has tried everything at his disposal, to include magic and science to bring Helene back to him; his hope that she would naturally recover has gradually faded, though he still visits her often

• Ghislaine Renault: a born vampire and Andard's ex-wife (she's vampire social elite and currently lives in Paris); the marriage was purely vampire politics with Andard getting Valeran out of the arrangement

• Other: The emblem of the Leroux family is a blood-red butterfly and is a motif that often features prominently in artwork, clothing, and architecture throughout the castle and many estates

Additional Info:

• Vampires must consume at least two gallons of blood a day. Those who don't drink blood regularly dry up, produce cracks in their skin, and either go into a needy blood frenzy or start going into hibernation; vampires can supplement their blood diets with raw flesh, but fresh blood must also be consumed.
• Vampires can drink blood from humans or animals, and tastes vary. Blood collected from blood banks is fine, but the tastiest and most delicious blood comes straight from the source (aka, the human/animal itself) because its still fresh and warm. Vampires have blood, but its thick, dark, and viscous--like honey.
• Vampires are possessive of their mate and have been known to crave their mate's blood most of all
• Vampires are rare but can come into being in one of two ways: to be born via pregnancy or created by consuming vast amounts of vampire blood. To be born a vampire is the most ideal way, as created vampires often can't control their blood-frenzy and become almost mindless eating machines attacking wantonly, sometimes known as ghouls.
• Vampires in this world are unaffected by holy items, as vampirism isn't a 'curse' from 'God' like in Bram Stoker's Dracula, but a life state, like being a werewolf or fairy.
• Vampires are sensitive to sunlight, but don't 'burst into flames' like in movies; they're simply lethargic during the day and are sensitive to nasty sunburns with lengthy exposure to sunlight; vampires are naturally nocturnal
• A vampire sire must consume a great deal of regular blood before going through the process of making a 'created' vampire, then the sire will drink most of the blood from the siree and replace it with the vampire's blood. Together, they then lay in a sunless room for three days; traditionally, this was a coffin or grave, as this signified the siree as 'dying' and being reborn. Unfortunately, created vampires are often permanently afflicted with blood-frenzy, though some have been known to recover after a great deal of time
• Vampires are rare, as vampire pregnancy is rare, and often blood-frenzied vampires are put down rather than waste the resources required to keep them contained
• Vampires aren't immortal; they simply age slower and generally live between 3 to 5 thousand years
