Profile: "Fire safety first, ya hear! I'm the salamander firefighter, ya hear!"

A lively salamander firefighter whose catchphrase is, "Fire safety first, ya hear!"

The resident blessing-type member of ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI!

Innocent and carefree on the surface but a sincere and hardworking soul underneath, she was once adored by the townsfolk of old Edo. Wanting to return the kindness humans showed her, she works hard at firefighting every day... even if she fumbles a little now and then!

Personality: She is cautious in her personal life, taking care to avoid accidents. She describes herself as exceptionally earnest and gentle, but also positive and something of a crybaby.

Appearance: Achichi Mela is the shortest member of ASOBI★MAWARI-TAI! She has gentle pink eyes and soft features. However, she often hides her true features behind distinctive black crow-like mask with pink eyebrows, giving the appearance of piercing blue eyes with yellow sclera.[3] Her other uncommon attributes include a tidy pair of black horns which fade to pale blue at the tips, and a blue tail. She has striking split-dyed hair of pale purple and aquamarine with a black tuft at the front, all tied off in small bunches which ignite with mysterious blue flame.

Her outfit is a combination of modern and traditional Japanese style. She wears a blue happi coat emblazoned with the slogan 無炎息災, over a pale blue camisole top and white pleated skirt. She wears dark blue tube socks with white stripes on top, and a pair of purple sneakers. She accesorizes with a bright pink belt around her waist and an omamori charm around her neck.

Mascots and fans: Her fans are known as "Mela-gumi" 「めら組」, meaning "Mela gang." Her membership is called "Anzen Chitai" (安全地帯), meaning "Safe Zone."

Quotes: "Ara ara, mela mela, Achichi Mela!" "Fire safety first noja!" "Bai bai noja!"

Trivia: Name: Her surname is written with the kanji「熱千」, meaning "heat" and "thousand." "Achichi" is also a Japanese word meaning "ouch!", used when touching something hot. Her given name Mela refers to the Japanese onomatopoeia for bursting into flames (meramera). When put together, her names form the word "chimera," meaning a creature formed by the combination of two creatures.

Lore: Mela is a salamander, an amphibious creature described in western folklore as having an immunity to fire. She was born in the city of Edo, the old name for Tokyo, until it was re-named on 3 September 1868 following the Meiji Restoration. She lived there during the Edo period, a time from around 1600 to 1868.[1] She used her natural resistance to fire to work as a firefighter. Through its history, Edo was known for several major fires, and in turn for its squads of firefighters. However, she left to live in the mountains after her human friends passed away. At debut, she gave her age as 415 years old. This would place her date of birth as the year 1611. She lived a long time by being careful, such as crossing at the traffic lights. According to the promotional video, she has the ability to breathe blue fire. She discovered the Internet in modern times after discovering a smartphone. However, nobody online believed she was a salamander. To understand humanity better, she was adopted and raised in human society for twenty years. She discovered hololive from a YouTube video of Our Bright Parade, and was inspired to join. Her special skill is being lucky. Her hope is to live a long life in a place where she belongs.

Likes and dislikes: She likes people and Vocaloid. Her favorite Vocaloid producers are Tsumiki and Sohbana. She likes talking (chatting on the phone, interviews, etc.) Her favorite foods are fried tofu, senbei crackers, and oden (daikon). Her favorite manga are narou-kei (a genre similar to isekai) and Shonen Jump. She also mentions Isobe Isobē Monogatari, a story set in the Edo period. Her favorite anime are Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, Re:Zero, The Dangers in my Heart, and My Hero Academia. Her favorite game is GeoGuessr. She also mentions Freeze Basket, a children's game. She prefers the mountains to the sea, Japanese to western food, money to time, winter to summer, receiving 10 million yen per month over 1 billion yen one-time, Japan to abroad, and anime to dramas. She also believes in aliens. Her oshi is humanity. Her favorite animal is also humanity. Her favorite sweets are diamond sablés. Vocaloid production is her hobby. She is afraid of toaster, salmon, and being flamed.

Goals and dreams: Repay human kindness. Have a synthesized version of her voice. Get adapted into games, anime, manga, and morning TV dramas. Collaborate with the fire department. Create original songs and hold solo concerts. Conduct Internet literacy training at schools.

Miscellaneous: Besides Japanese, Mela can also speak English to a certain extent. Mela lived and studied abroad for a year when she was a child, so she knows how they pronounce English. She has a speech quirk where she ends her sentences in "noja"「のじゃ」. She also uses other archaic speech, such as referring to herself with the personal pronoun "wasshi," and using "onushi" or "onushira" ("you" singular, or "you" plural). Her mask resembles the tengu, a Japanese mythological creature which resembles a crow. Her happi coat features the kanji 「無炎息災」, meaning "no flames, sound health." This references the traditional saying 「無病息災」, "mubyou sokusai," "no illnesses, sound health." Her coat also says 火の用心, "hi no youjin," a saying meaning "watch out for fire"; and 炎, read "honou" or "homura," meaning a blaze. She carries a yellow clapper on her belt, a noisemaking tool traditionally used to warn of fires. She made her lore video herself. After getting off the train, she likes to wait until the elevator has cleared a little before getting on, rather than getting stuck in the crowd. She'll play a crane game about six times before giving up. Most humans either win or give up after three tries. However, for salamanders, it's about six. She has to charge her battery if it drops below 50%. She can't live without the internet. She has a habit of hoarding nice paper bags from shops. She tends to hum to herself when nobody is around. Even someone notices, she won't stop. Her Live2D rigger keffiy previously worked on the models of numerous hololive members, including Nerissa Ravencroft and Takanashi Kiara. Her artist Minamino Aki illustrated Shiga Riko, and provided various official hololive illustration works. She'd like to book a school building to play hide and seek.
