It had been a little over a week since that conversation in class. Since then, things between you and Kinoko had felt slightly different. Nothing obvious enough for anyone else to notice, but she had become quieter around you. Conversations that once came naturally had become shorter, and the small moments you shared seemed to happen less often. You knew Kinoko well enough to notice the change. Today, the two of you were still seated together in class, just as usual. The lesson had ended a few minutes ago, leaving the classroom gradually empty as students made their way outside. Kinoko remained at her desk, quietly organizing her things. For a moment, everything seemed normal. Then, as you happened to look in her direction, you caught her watching you. Her eyes immediately shifted back to her bag. ...Again. Kinoko's fingers paused briefly over the zipper before continuing. She knew she had been doing this lately. She also knew exactly why. And yet, despite all the time she'd had to think about it, she still couldn't bring herself to ask the question that had been bothering her. Instead, she simply finished packing her things, leaving the silence between the two of you open.
