ミImportant Note:

So, I may have delayed a bit because I got busy. Uh, Anyway, I'm at least going to get the Hashira done and then I'll do the Kamado squad and Demons. I'll be busy Monday, too, so most likely Tuesday and Wednesday will be the days I finish them.

  • Chapter 4 (Partial Appearance)
  • Chapter 28 (Full Appearance) Anime Debut: Episode 15 ---☆ Portrayal Japanese Voice Actor: Saori Hayami English Voice Actor: Erika Harlacher Stage Play: Yoko Kadoyama ---☆ Appearance Shinobu was a petite, young woman of slender build and pale skin complexion, which sharply contrasts with her pink lipstick. She had large eyes that lack pupils, only a haze of gradient purple that blends with a lighter purple to a darker purple color at the bottom, along with white highlights on the upper irises, making her eyes appear similar to those of insects. Her eyes are framed with black eyelashes. She had raven-black wavy hair that fades into a dark purple hue at the ends, styled at the back of her head into a flat yakai-maki bun fastened with a white butterfly ornament with a light purple trim on the outer side of the wings, along with turquoise speckled spots. She had center-split, ear-length, voluminous curtain bangs that flow down to frame the sides of her face, with two slightly thinner chin-length locks of hair in front of her ears below them. By the time of Hashira Training, both her bangs and locks are visibly more refined and slightly longer. She stood out among the more physically imposing Hashira due to her diminutive stature and small frame, which was later reinforced by her mentioning that she does not possess enough physical strength to decapitate a demon as the others do. Shinobu wore a dark purple-tinted variation of the standard Demon Slayer uniform. It consists of a button-up jacket with a stand-up collar and long sleeves, featuring gold buttons and a shirt pocket on the left breast, with the kanji for Destroy (滅めつ, Metsu?) engraved on the back of the uniform. Beneath the jacket, she wore a white long-sleeved collared undershirt. Her long, saggy tattsuke-hakama pants are also tinted dark purple and are fastened at the waist with a white belt. Her legs were wrapped with a pair of unique white kyahan—with butterfly-patterned design—that fades from pale turquoise to pink gradient around the lower legs, and tied securely with white ribbons. Her tabi socks match the dark purple color of her uniform. Over her uniform, she wore a distinctive white haori that once belonged to her late older sister, Kanae. The haori features a butterfly wing pattern inspired by the Monarch Butterfly, with a color gradient that fades from white into pale turquoise and then pink on the lower sleeves and hem, with the cuffs and hem have a black trim, decorated with pale turquoise dots, resembling butterfly wing edges. For footwear, she wore white zōri sandals with purple straps, and she conceals a hidden blade in the right sandal—used as a last resort weapon. When Shinobu was fourteen, her appearance was altered slightly. Her chin-length strands of hair in front of her ears were tucked in and she had a different Demon Slayer uniform consisting of silver buttons and cloth a darker shade of purple. She also sported a plain white haori over it. ---☆ Personality Shinobu displayed a bright, friendly and cheerful demeanor, always having an easygoing smile on her face regardless of the situation she was in. However, her outward behavior was shown very quickly to be a façade. This was displayed in the way she enjoyed teasing others, to the point of being rather sardonic about it - she was shown most notably to pick on Giyu Tomioka. Despite her relaxed exterior and her initial claim of wanting to get along with demons, she could be rather cruel towards them, which was seen when she killed Spider Demon Daughter after giving her false hope of helping her, and immediately attempting to kill Nezuko Kamado without giving her brother Tanjiro a chance to prove that she was harmless to humans. Later on, she was shown to have a more compassionate side towards the Kamado siblings after hearing their full story. Shinobu was shown to be unabashed, as she paid no heed to Murata's lack of clothes despite his own embarrassment. She also showed to be very strict when she needed to, as she scolded Inosuke when he broke the window, and burned revealing uniforms tailored by Masao Maeda, who intended them to be worn by her and other girls. It is later revealed that Shinobu's outwardly calm, tranquil disposition was worn as a mask, as she held an intense hatred for demons due to the loss of her beloved older sister, Kanae at a young age, along with the deaths of her parents, almost all of her Tsuguko, and the families of her apprentices at the Butterfly Mansion. This hatred was so strong that she was in a near-constant state of extreme anger, which was sensed by Tanjiro when the two held a conversation. Her desire for revenge rendered her unable to live the normal life her elder sister had wished upon her, instead devoting the entirety of her energy to defeating demons. Shinobu's younger self had a more brash, blunt and uncomplicated demeanor as seen when she rescued Kanao Tsuyuri, whom she had a negative attitude towards raising at first. After the death of Kanae, however, Shinobu began to outwardly behave more like her older sister and eventually developed her gentle, positive attitude and mannerisms to match while internally holding in her rage, which she later clarifies was fueled by her desire to continuously display the smile that her sister loved. Though never shown onscreen, she has a notable temper, namely in the way that makes even the loud and brash Inosuke Hashibira take notice. However, although she faked a cheerful and optimistic demeanor to hide her true vexations, Shinobu was genuinely compassionate to her fellow humans. After Kanae's death, Shinobu coddled all the orphaned girls in her care as if they were her own sisters, making all of them have a large adoration of her. In addition, despite her stubborn attempts to kill Nezuko, after being ordered to give the Kamado siblings a trial, Shinobu was willing to allow Tanjiro to defend himself in stark contrast to most of her colleagues who opted to execute them on the spot. Shinobu also both aided Tanjiro by giving him water laced with anesthetic when he was in pain, and told Obanai Iguro that he was being too rough when he pinned Tanjiro to the ground with his elbow. In addition, despite initially being irritated by Kanao's passiveness, Shinobu grew to have a more loving relationship with her adopted sister, Kanao after Kanae's death. She comforted Kanao during Kanae's funeral despite Kanao not shedding tears, being perfectly understanding of her reasoning for not expressing emotions, and expresses concern for Kanao's well-being, as shown when she warned Kanao about Flower Breathing: Final Form's grievous effect. Shinobu was also pleased when Kanao grew to be more expressive and talkative over time. She also showed great care for Inosuke, making him see her as a maternal figure and be subconsciously reminded of his own mother. Moreover, after intercepting Yae attempted suicide after she witnessed her demonized father be dispatched by Giyu, who later makes a tasteless comment after trying to solace her, Shinobu, concerned for the girl's wellbeing, stays behind for a moment to comfort Yae with sincerity, despite Giyu telling her to remain on duty. During her battle against Upper Rank Two, Doma, Shinobu also revealed that she suffers from an inferiority complex due to her inferior physical abilities compared to her fellow Hashira, having been jealous of them for possessing taller or more muscular bodies than her, and cursing her own body for not developing further to make her more effective in combat. ---☆ Abilities Overall Abilities As a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinobu was a very powerful and skilled combatant. Despite not possessing the physical strength to cut off a demon's head common to that of an average Demon Slayer, Shinobu manages to ascend to the highest rank in the Demon Slayer Corps without the ability to behead demons, and inferior physical strength. Furthermore, she used her creativity, ingenuity and techniques to easily make up for it. Instead of the traditional method of decapitating a demon with a Nichirin Sword to kill them, she opted to use a modified version of a katana that acts as a stinger to inject a strong dosage of wisteria-based poison that is lethal to demons. In addition to her intellect, she was extremely fast and agile, allowing her to overpower demons very quickly. Her extreme speed was revealed during her battle with the second most powerful Upper Rank, Doma, where she was able to go toe-to-toe with the demon briefly, even managing to outmatch him slightly and receive his praise. Endless Rage: Shinobu had possessed an endless rage that never left her as she was seemingly angry every day, so much so that Tanjiro once asked if she was angry despite visibly smiling, commenting there was always a scent of anger from her. Later, she confirms this, that she had always angry when in the Infinity Castle after battling Doma. This unquenchable rage is the source for her indomitable willpower and undaunted spirit, shown when she continued to fight despite her grievous injuries - such as having her chest slashed, her collarbone and ribs fractured, and one of her lungs filled with blood. Even while fatally wounded and at Doma's mercy, Shinobu spent her last moments spitefully cursing the Upper Rank. She had remarked that her desire for revenge was so great, it left her unable to live the normal life her elder sister had want for her, instead devoting the rest of it to defeating demons. She also reflected on her life on how demons had killed her loved ones and her Tsugukos, claiming all of it makes her extremely furious. Indomitable Will: Shinobu possessed an undaunted spirit and incredible willpower, driven by her unyielding hatred for demons, and grudges against them for killing her loved ones. Even with her inferiority complex brought about by her small size and weak physical strength, when it became increasingly difficult for Shinobu to breathe due to Doma's Blood Demon Art, and despite so grieviously injured, and losing so much blood to the point she couldn't stand and not being able to breathe, upon remembering her promise to Kanao and hearing Kanae's words, Shinobu remained steadfast, stood up, and continued fighting, a feat that surprised even Doma. Even while fatally wounded and at Doma's mercy, Shinobu spent her final moments spitefully cursing the Upper Rank. She was even driven to heavily altered her own body with wisteria poison in order to ensure his defeat even in death. Keen Intellect: Shinobu was extremely intelligent and possessed keen observation and vast knowledge, to the point of being considered a genius. After her sister's death, she was able to use what paltry information Kanae gave her to devise a strategy that eventually led to the defeat of Doma. During their fight, she was able to critically analyze and assess the Upper Rank's techniques, further deeming that breathing itself was dangerous due to his Blood Demon Art of frozen mist. Furthermore, albeit post-facto, Shinobu determined that demons do share their information, which was why Doma was privy to her poison, a fact that she half-expected. Additionally, she was able to calculate the amount of poison and the poison mix that would be the most effective against Doma. Her intelligence enabled her to use her immense speed to her advantage, in the form of one of her most devastating techniques, Hundred-Legged Zigzag, where she runs a zigzag pattern at tremendous speed to confuse even Doma, in order to create an opening for her to directly stab his neck. She also developed a form of sign language with Kanao to communicate crucial information in a short span of time, which helped Kanao in fighting and defeating the demon. Medical Expertise: Despite not being as combat-talented as the rest of her fellow Hashira, Shinobu instead displayed immense skill and mastery in various medical and pharmaceutical fields to make up for her lack of natural-born combat ability, being highly knowledgeable about how to create various poisons using wisteria and utilize them in combat to achieve the most deadly effect. Her poisons can kill opponents within seconds and even drastically weaken Doma, the second strongest demon of the Twelve Kizuki. She also possessed the medical skills needed to counteract the poisons and venoms created by demons, as seen when she manages to undo the poison that was slowly transforming Zenitsu into a spider and restore him back to his previous human form. • Anti-Kibutsuji Drug: Upon teaming up with Tamayo and Yushiro, Shinobu was able to aid Tamayo in creating a successful, four-stage drug that would be used to significantly weaken Muzan Kibutsuji, even despite his immense physical resistance and abilities. This drug was undeniably one of the biggest factors in the final fight against the Demon King, as it made the normally useless attacks of the Demon Slayers into ones that were extremely effective, allowing them to drive him into a corner and eventually kill him. Poisonous Physiology: In order to defeat Doma, Shinobu heavily altered her body by absorbing highly concentrated wisteria-based poison over a period of a year prior to her battle with him. She was successful in saturating her body with the undetectable poison that completely merged with her body's own cell structures, including those of her blood and internal organs—all the way down to the very tips of her fingernails. With her overall size and weight, her body became the equivalent of 37 kilograms worth of poison, approximately 700 times more than the lethal amount needed to kill an average demon. This dosage of poison was strong enough to melt Doma down to his very bones and prevented him from healing. Though the Upper Rank's body tried to build resistance to it, the sheer amount of it overwhelmed his regeneration completely. With the aid of Tamayo, Shinobu saturated her entire body with poison without negatively impending her own health. Physical Abilities Enhanced Agility: Being a key aspect to her Insect Breathing swordsmanship style, Shinobu was incredibly agile and swift, shown when she maneuvered through a lush forest effortlessly and evaded Spider Demon Daughter's silk Blood Demon Art with ease. Her agility enabled her to intercept Yae by pinning her to the ground when she attempted to commit suicide with a rifle, even when she was a distance away initially. During fights, Shinobu relied on acrobatic movements to deliver dozens of thrusts with her katana to inject as much poison as she could into her enemy at once. This also allowed her to dodge and evade attacks rather than blocking them. Her agility was best exemplified in her battle against Doma, who had trouble intercepting and reacting to her fighting style despite his own immense speed. Furthermore, with the technique Hundred-Legged Zigzag, Shinobu was able to confuse the Upper Rank entirely, who was unable to land a clean blow on her and could not predict her moves reliably to fight back, making him remark that it was as if she was everywhere at once. Enhanced Strength: Despite being the smallest member of the Demon Slayer Corps and thus having the weakest swinging strength due to her small arms, Shinobu instead displayed powerful thrusting and stabbing strength, as proven when she could pierce a stone boulder and managed to break a high ceiling with an upward thrust. She was also able to kick Daughter to the ground and pin her down completely without any resistance. Although she does not possesses the physical strength to cut off a demon's head, she was still capable of carrying a woman, and leaping away from Doma's attack range. During her battle, she was able to stab and strike his body numerous times, despite his immense durability, even being able of parrying some of his strikes. She later managed to pierce Doma's neck, and even lift up and pin his much larger frame to the ceiling. Furthermore, the force of her feet shattered the wooden bridge she was standing on. Immense Speed & Reflexes: As a Hashira, Shinobu possessed tremendous speed and reflexes enabling her to easily evade and out-pace demons, attacking them before they can even register what happened. She is said to be the fourth fastest runner among the Hashira. Shinobu was so fast that it often appears as if she simply vanishes from view. Her sharp reflexes allowed her to tackle Yae down to the ground, when she attempts to commit suicide by firing a rifle into her chin, even when she was a distance away initially. She was also able to evade Spider Demon Daughter's silk Blood Demon Art without any trouble, and deliver numerous blows to the demon before she could even react. Her speed even managed to surprise Doma, as she outpaced the demon several times during their fight, unleashing multiple strikes that Doma couldn't fully block or evade, making him admit that Shinobu was the fastest Hashira that he had ever met. Furthermore, utilizing the form Hundred-Legged Zigzag and despite being severely injured, Shinobu moved so quickly towards Doma, he couldn't immediately register and barely countered her charge. She swerved in every direction and moved so quickly, her movements misled the Upper Rank even to the point she was somehow in multiple spots at the same time, and she was able to duck down from a slash intended to kill her, only leading to her haori being grazed. Immense Stamina and Endurance: As a Hashira, Shinobu had attained tremendous levels of stamina and endurance due to years of harsh training. During her fight against Doma, she was able to keep fighting the Upper Rank for an extended period of time despite her small size and lesser physical strength, as well as the fact that it became increasingly difficult for her to breathe due to his Blood Demon Art affecting her from the beginning. Even after losing much blood, having one of her lungs punctured, and being unable to breathe properly, she was able to stand up, perform her most devastating technique, and successfully attack Doma, a feat which even made the Upper Rank doubt that she was human. Supernatural Abilities Extrasensory Perception: As a Hashira, Shinobu possesses incredibly honed senses, being able to pick up things outside the normal range of perception, such as discerning the aura of a demon's from a human's, such as being able to discern that Nezuko was a demon on her first meeting with the siblings, even when she was a distance away from them. Furthermore, Shinobu's senses happen to have refined enough to discern and perceive how many humans Spider Demon Daughter killed and consumed, even when the human corpses are covered from her eyesight due to Daughter's silk thread cocooning them, and pick up the scent of blood from afar, as shown when she smells blood even before entering Upper Rank 2, Doma's Eternal Paradise Faith cult and witnessing him consuming his disciple. Lastly, albeit post-facto, Shinobu detects and perceives the Upper Rank's techniques, and critically analyzes and assesses them, further deeming that breathing itself was dangerous due to his Blood Demon Art of frozen mist. ---☆ Fighting Style Master Swordswoman: As a Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinobu was one of the most powerful and skilled swordswomen in the entire organization. Her techniques were unique to her alone, but was as effective as any of the traditional swordsmanship styles. Her swordplay specialized in thrusting and piercing techniques in order to inject poison into demons. Her sword thrusts are so fast and powerful that they can pierce boulders and even out-speed Water Breathing's Drop Ripple Thrust form, the fastest thrusting technique in that Breathing Style. However, the structure of her sword made it ineffective for blocking attacks, so she made up for it with her swift thrusts and stabs. Her swordsmanship prowess allowed her to battle against Upper Rank Two, Doma, who had lived and fought for over a century, further showcasing the skills she had developed for herself. Breathing Style Insect Breathing (蟲むしの呼こ吸きゅう, Mushi no kokyĹŤ?): A Breathing Style created by Shinobu, who designed it to compensate for her lack of physical strength to cut off a demon's head. Combined with the lethality of her poison, this Style allowed her to defeat countless demons, and even battle Upper Rank Two, Doma. Techniques • Butterfly Dance: Caprice (蝶ちょうノ舞まい 戯たわむれ, Chō no mai: Tawamure?) - The user leaps into the air and charges towards the opponent, stinging them multiple times with their blade to inject poison in just seemingly one strike. • Dance of the Bee Sting: True Flutter (蜂ほう牙がノ舞まい 真ま靡なびき, Hōga no mai: Manabiki?) - The user dashes at their target at blinding speeds and uses the momentum of their speed to then strengthen a single thrust into their opponent and inject poison into them. • Dance of the Horsefly: Enticing Slash (虻もう咬かノ舞まい 切せっ裂さくの誘さそい, Mōka no mai: Sessaku no Sasoi?) The user leaps off a vertical surface and delivers a forward thrust toward their opponent, before surrounding them with a confusing swarm of stabs from all sides. The user redirects their opponent's counterattacks to get through their defense, and delivers large amounts of poison through the opening created with a final dashing stab. • Dance of the Dragonfly: Compound Eye Hexagon (蜻せい蛉れいノ舞まい 複ふく眼がん六ろっ角かく, Seirei no mai: Fukugan Rokkaku?) - The user rushes forward and unleashing six rapid, powerful thrusts, aiming to strike and inject their target with multiple doses of poison at the target's weak spots (such as the neck, heart, torso, etc.) in order to kill them with a large dose of poison. • Dance of the Centipede: Hundred-Legged Zigzag (蜈ご蚣こうノ舞まい 百ひゃく足そく蛇じゃ腹ばら, Gokō no mai: Hyakusoku Jabara?) - The user uses their full speed to run a zigzag pattern that confuses their opponent in order to create an opening for them to directly stab their opponent's neck and inject poison to kill them, with the stab's force and power being further enhanced by the momentum of their speed. Doma noted that the sheer speed and footwork of this technique is strong enough to destroy an entire wooden bridge. Game Exclusive Techniques • Butterfly Dance: Caprice, Illusory Light (蝶ちょうノ舞まい 戯たわむれ・幻げん光こう, Chō no mai: Tawamure - Genkō?) - Shinobu starts with a backflip before lunging at her opponent. Upon connection, Shinobu unleashes a barrage of straight short thrusts with her sword, ending with one powerful thrust that launches her opponent away and onto their back. She then leaps into the air while transforming into a gigantic butterfly of light, before diving from it and stabbing her blade straight through her opponent's chest and into the ground, cracking the surrounding terrain and creating a massive crater in its wake. • Butterfly Dance: Caprice, Fluorescence (蝶ちょうノ舞まい "戯たわむれ"・燐りん光こう, Chō no mai: Tawamure - Rinkō?) - Shinobu starts with a backflip kick, that sends her opponent upward. Upon connection, she blades hidden in her sandals to slash them mid-air, before kicking them downwards. She then performs Butterfly Dance while homing in on the opponent from above, although instead of a single strike, it's a constant barrage of poisonous thrusts from all directions, so fast it forms into a ball of energy and erupts into a double-helix shape consisting of butterflies. • Dance of the Centipede: Hundred-Legged Zigzag, Celestial Strike (蜈ご蚣こうノ舞まい 百ひゃく足そく蛇じゃ腹ばら・天てん衝しょう, Gokō no mai: Hyakusoku Jabara - Tenshō?) - The user charges through their opponent while leaping upwards. When they land, they use immense footwork to thrust foward and unleash a more offensive variant of Dance of the Centipede, attacking from all directions before appearing below the opponent and leaping upwards to deliver a piercing thrust. • Sixfold Thrust (六ろく連れん突つき, Rokuren Tsuki?) - The user unleashes five short but very quick thrusts towards their opponent, before briefly pausing and then unleashing a sixth, more powerful thrust. • Swift Thrust (速はや足あし突つき, Haya'ashi Tsuki?) - The user spins before kicking off the ground and quickly dashing towards their opponent with enough speed to simulate teleportation, then does a powerful, singular thrust that hits twice. • Rising Thrust (昇のぼり突つき, Nobori Tsuki?) - The user launches a thrust towards their opponent and then releases an upwards thrust that launches their opponent high up into the air. • The Brilliant and the Brave (柱はしらと庚かのえ, Hashira to Kanoe?, lit. "Hashira and Kanoe") - A collaboration between an Insect Breathing user and a Water Breathing user, although unlike Dancing Waters' Allure, it is not required for the Water Breather to have a particularly high skill set. The Insect Breather takes the lead by kicking their opponent back several times before unleashing two thrusting attacks similar to Dance of the Butterfly. After the opponent falls to the ground, the Water Breather joins in and attacks them several times, albeit much more unrefined. The Water Breather then rushes forwards and uses a move similar to Water Surface Slash. However, there’s a minor chance that the Water Breather’s uniform is damaged in the chaos. • Dancing Waters' Allure (水すい艶えん乱らん舞ぶ, Suien Ranbu?) - A collaboration between a Water Breathing user and Insect Breathing user. After the two deliver a crosscut, the Water Breather attacks the opponent several times in a winding fashion similar to Striking Tide. The Insect Breather then joins in and delivers a spinning thrust similar to Dance of the Butterfly. The Water and Insect Breather then bombard their opponent with several attacks from their respective Breathing Styles; the former attacking from several directions, the latter somersaulting around their opponent and stabbing them several times. After the Water Breather slashes them, the Insect Breather stabs and kicks them in the air. As the opponent falls down, the Insect Breather charges towards them while the Water Breather executes a move similar to Dead Calm. When contact is made, the opponent is struck by a constant and multidirectional barrage of Water Breathing and Insect Breathing attacks ending in a spectacular combination. • Chemistry Class Concoction (科学実験かがくじっけん, Kagaku Jikken?)[68] - A technique exclusive to the Kimetsu Academy version of Shinobu Kocho. As President of the Pharmacology Club, she uses her knowledge in chemistry to give her opponent an Erlenmeyer flask containing a strange pink chemical. She then pours in another chemical from a test tube, which reacts violently and results in an explosion, causing Shinobu to sarcastically lament, “oh dear, another failure”. She then proceeds to lightly bonk herself on the head and give a sarcastic "oops". ---☆ Equipment Stinger Nichirin Katana: Shinobu wielded a heavily modified Nichirin Katana forged by Tecchin Tecchikawahara. It was the same as any katana from the handle to slightly above the hilt, but above that, the weapon lost its blade and was replaced by a rod. It ended in a needle-like tip, which resembled a traditional katana's in appearance and function. The blade was designed for injection of wisteria poison into demons, as Shinobu used her medical expertise to replace her relative lack of strength and inability to decapitate demons. Her katana's tsuba was designed to bear resemblance to a butterfly, being a four-petaled flower shape that was in an aqua color with tree branches with bushy leaves motifs, and trimmed with an orange border. The handle was orange and wrapped in crystal teal cords, and capped with an orange kashira. The blade was black in color, with the bottom hilt and the needle-like tip of the blade had a lavender-blue outline. The words Evil Demon (惡あっ鬼き, Akki?) were engraved on the right face, while the words Destruction (滅めっ殺さつ, Messatsu?) were engraved on the left face due her sword's structure. Modified Sheath: Along with her katana, Shinobu had also modified her katana's sheath, using it as a portable poison mixer and loader. The sheath was in white with a butterfly motifs. She twisted her katana when sheathing it, which allowed her to change the concoction of poison she used. Only she and the maker of the sheath knew how this process worked, though Doma was able to hear it in action and determine its function. She used it several times when fighting him in an attempt to poison him in the most effective way she could muster. ---☆ Relatives Father    Mother                                            Kanae    Shinobu    Kanao *Kanae and Shinobu purchased Kanao out of slavery and adopted her as their little sister. ---☆ Battles Mount Natagumo Arc • Shinobu Kocho vs Spider Demon (Daughter) Infinity Castle Arc • Demon Slayers vs Muzan Kibutsuji: Part 1 • Shinobu Kocho vs Doma ---☆ Trivia • Shinobu's surname contains the Kan-on'yomi reading of the kanji for "butterfly" (胡こ蝶ちょう, kochō?). Her first name is written in hiragana and thus doesn't have any semantic values, but it's usually written with the kanji for "stealth, endurance, patience" (忍しのぶ, shinobu?). • Since her first name uses three hiragana characters, it's notably different to Kanae and Kanao's names, as they're both written with three katakana characters instead. • Shinobu's blade was designed and created by the chief of the Swordsmith Village, Tecchin Tecchikawahara, likely due to its unique shape requiring the chief's expertise to forge. • Shinobu's haori resembling a monarch butterfly's wings is notable as in real life, the milkweed diet of the butterflies causes them to be poisonous, which is a defense against predators. This both is represented through Shinobu's usage of poison, and mirrors how her habit of consuming wisteria poison caused Doma to be severely poisoned after absorbing her. • Shinobu's Demon Slayer uniform's jacket is originally designed to leave the center of the chest area open, similar to Mitsuri Kanroji's, but, as Shinobu disliked this aspect of its design, she burned the original uniform right in front of the perverted Kakushi who had just given it to her and requested a fully buttoned version of the uniform instead. • Although Shinobu wouldn't admit it, she was a natural airhead. The names she came up with for Kanao were so bizarre that upon seeing them, Kanae broke down into such an "EH?!" expression that even the efficient Aoi Kanzaki wasn't able to smoothen things out. • Shinobu's overall level of openness was ranked at 85%. • Shinobu's hobby is telling ghost stories. • Shinobu's favorite food is Ginger Tsukudani. • Shinobu and Mitsuri get along quite well due to them having been the only two female Hashira after Kanae's death. Mitsuri sometimes teaches Shinobu western cooking. • According to Giyu, Shinobu can't stand furry animals. Instead, she has a pet goldfish named Fugu. Oddly enough, Fugu is the Japanese name for the pufferfish, which is renowned for its lethally poisonous body. • There was some tension during the cooperative research time between Shinobu and Tamayo. Shinobu held some distrust towards Tamayo due to her being a demon and Tamayo's assistant, Yushiro, wished to kill Shinobu as a result of it. • Shinobu viewed the other Hashira as follows: • "He's a good guy but our conversations don't always make sense." - Flame Hashira • "I treated his wounds and examined his memory loss.
