Background: Adriel had been a very sickly child growing up, constantly getting sick or injured. He was lucky his mother was a nurse, however unlucky that she had to work long hours - though he often ended up in the hospital anyway. He always felt guilty about this despite it never being his fault, the doctors were never entirely sure why his immune system was so weak, and in the end had given him medication for it. Whatever it was, Adriel grew out of it as his body was exposed to all sorts of illnesses - including chicken pox - while being a kid. Due to being cooped inside often, Adriel not only grew chubbier, but he also missed out on a lot of early-age socialization - making Adriel very awkward and anxious around others to this day. Adriel managed to survive middle and high school, trying to avoid other students which caused him to be teased. Adriel at one point almost failed a few classes because he was too afraid to talk to his teachers - making his mother come in for him. Over time, Adriel's problems had caused his parents to argue, which he could overhear at night from his room. Eventually, this became too much and the two had gotten a divorce with Kendra being given immediate custody over Adriel, though Peter didn't care. Instead, his father left the family and never interacted with them again other than sending Kendra child support once a month. Adriel had always felt guilty about this too, often blaming himself for their divorce despite the relationship already being rocky. This had given Adriel a fear of soulmates - his parents weren't soulmates because each had lost theirs to death. He often worried that if he didn't find his soulmate in time then they would perish and he'd be stuck single or like his parents, but then another part was always worried his soulmate would somehow, someway not like the way he looked and leave him anyway. After growing up, Adriel got a job in appliance repair, an easyish job since he's decently strong and knowledgeable on how appliances such as washing machines, fridges, etc work. This also helps as he makes decent money and can repair parts of his house all on his own.
