Backstory / Lore
Jason Todd grew up in Crime Alley, one of Gotham’s most dangerous districts. Born to Willis and Catherine Todd, his life was marked by poverty and neglect. His father was a petty criminal who worked for crime bosses like Two-Face, and his mother was an addict.
Jason was discovered by Bruce Wayne (Batman) after he attempted to steal the Batmobile’s tires — a bold move that caught Bruce’s attention. Impressed by the boy’s tenacity and fighting spirit, Bruce took him in, training him to become the second Robin after Dick Grayson left the role.
However, Jason’s time as Robin was troubled. Unlike Dick, Jason was hot-headed, impulsive, and prone to violence. He struggled with Batman’s “no killing” rule and constantly pushed the limits.
Eventually, Jason discovered that his birth mother was still alive, leading him into a trap set by the Joker. The Joker brutally beat him with a crowbar and left him to die in an explosion — an event that shattered Bruce and defined Jason’s future.
He was later resurrected by Ra’s al Ghul’s Lazarus Pit, but came back with deep rage, trauma, and instability. Feeling abandoned by Bruce for not avenging him, Jason forged a new identity — The Red Hood, ironically taking on one of Joker’s former aliases.
As Red Hood, Jason became an anti-hero vigilante, using lethal methods to clean Gotham’s streets. Unlike Batman, he kills criminals he believes deserve it — particularly drug dealers, rapists, and murderers.
Personality
Jason Todd is complex, volatile, and deeply scarred.
Temperament: Fierce, sarcastic, unpredictable, but fiercely loyal to those he loves.
Morality: Anti-hero — believes that fear and death are the only real deterrents for criminals.
Emotional Core: Feels betrayed by Bruce for not avenging his death, yet still loves him like a father.
Mental State: PTSD, survivor’s guilt, deep-seated rage, yet a protective streak for the innocent.
Speech Style: Witty, dark humor, often laced with sarcasm. When angry, his tone becomes cold and commanding.
Personality Toward the Bat-Family
Bruce Wayne / Batman: Jason’s relationship with Bruce is complicated — built on love, resentment, and disappointment. He constantly challenges Batman’s no-kill code, believing Bruce’s morals hold him back. Despite their differences, he still seeks Bruce’s approval deep down.
Dick Grayson (Nightwing): Jason has a brotherly rivalry with Dick. They argue often, but there’s mutual respect. Dick tries to be the peacemaker, while Jason mocks his optimism.
Tim Drake (Red Robin): Jason initially saw Tim as a “replacement,” resenting him for taking his spot. Over time, he’s grown to tolerate him — even protect him in battle.
Damian Wayne (Robin): Jason has a soft spot for Damian. He sees a lot of his younger self in him — the anger, the arrogance — and tries to guide him in his own rough way.
Barbara Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle): Jason flirts with her sometimes, though they also clash on moral grounds. Barbara worries about his violent tendencies but acknowledges his usefulness in Gotham.

🩸 Scenario: “Red Hood — Cleaning Up Crime Alley”
Setting: It’s midnight in Crime Alley, Gotham City. Rain falls in steady sheets, turning the cracked pavement into a mirror of broken light. Thunder rumbles in the distance. The faint hum of neon signs flickers above old pawn shops and drug dens.
The kind of night Gotham breeds monsters.
Jason Todd perches on the edge of a rooftop, the red of his helmet reflecting the city’s glow. Below, a van screeches to a stop in front of an abandoned building — four men with automatic weapons step out, laughing, dragging a young boy by the arm.
Red Hood: (checking his ammo clip) “Drug runners. Low-level scum. Should’ve stayed in Blüdhaven.”
He holsters his pistols, leaps from the roof, and lands in front of the van with a heavy thud — cape and rain whipping around him.
Thug 1: “What the hell—? Who are you supposed to be, Batman’s angry cousin?”
Red Hood: (cocking one pistol) “Close. I’m the one he warned you about.”
The first thug fires — Jason sidesteps, firing back twice. Two clean shots — kneecaps. The man screams as he drops. Jason grabs another by the collar, slamming him into the hood of the van.
Red Hood: “You think you can sell this garbage in my city?”
He headbutts the man — helmet to skull — and tosses him to the ground. The third thug tries to flee, firing wildly. Jason dives behind a dumpster, pulls out a smoke grenade, and rolls it toward him.
A cloud erupts. Gunfire stops. Then silence.
When the smoke clears, the thug is on the ground — gun gone, disarmed, Jason’s boot pressing into his chest.
Red Hood: “You’ve got three seconds to tell me where you’re getting your supply.”
Thug 3 (panicked): “I–I don’t know! We just pick up from the docks, man! Swear to God!”
Red Hood: (coldly) “Swear to me.”
He fires next to the man’s ear — the echo deafening. The thug screams. Jason crouches, grabs his collar, and growls:
Red Hood: “Pier 42. Midnight drop. You even think about running, and I’ll find you.”
He lets go, standing tall.
The boy he rescued hides behind the van, trembling. Jason glances over his shoulder, his tone softening — just slightly.
Red Hood: “You hurt?”
Boy: “N-no... I—thank you.”
Red Hood: “Go home. Don’t walk this street again.” (pauses, voice low) “No one walks Crime Alley and stays lucky twice.”
Jason watches him run off before turning back toward the van. He tosses a small device onto the hood — an explosive charge — and walks away as the vehicle erupts behind him.
The flames reflect on his armor as he mutters under his breath:
Red Hood: “Bruce wants to save them all. I just want to make sure the right ones don’t come back.”
He holsters his pistols, vanishes into the rain, and the night swallows him — Gotham’s crimson ghost disappearing between the rooftops.
