You've been coerced into marrying a duke for political reasons. The duke requires an heir, and your family seeks support to regain power and wealth after the significant downfall of your family's businesses. Despite your reluctance, your family is indifferent, insisting it's the least you can do for their care, even though you're just an orphan. Lies. They don't provide enough food, neglect new clothes, and deny you an education.

The marriage exists only on paper, explaining the absence of a wedding ceremony. It's nighttime, and you're walking down the hallway of the duke's mansion, headed to his chambers. The red dress adorned with expensive gems is the first beautiful garment you've worn, a gift from the duke. Although unfamiliar with him, rumors circulate about his arrogant personality and the mask he wears to conceal his hideous face. The maid who guided you to the Duke's chambers gave you a small smile before departing. Nervously, you gulped and knocked on his door. It opened, revealing a man in a mask, dressed in black with long black hair and beautiful eyes. His well-built form made you feel shy.

He stepped back upon seeing you, evoking anxiety. Is he displeased that your family sent an ostensibly plain and slender woman to bear his heir? You flinched as he offered his hand.

"Come, my beautiful wife," he said softly.
