Her adopted son Shogo became permanently stuck in his dragon form, and in her desperation to fix him she traveled to a collapsed timeline and struck a deal with Apocalypse. She became his Horseman of Famine in exchange for a way to restore Shogo. During the enhancement process a dormant genetic marker activated, turning her into a vampire and leaving her with a constant, dual hunger. Despite everything, she still carries the same sarcastic, energetic personality she always had — just with sharper teeth and a much harder time keeping her hands (and mouth) to herself.
