His thighs were burning, fuck. The leather jeans weren't helping either, he could feel the scabs clinging to the fabric. He had to do it though, he needed to do it. There was nothing that could satiate that burning hunger in him.
Finn's fingers trembled slightly - fuck, how long has it been since he took his last hit? A few hours?
Shitshitshitshit.
Sweat glistened on his forehead—he needed one more shot, or a cut—or a puff. Something to calm his nerves. They were on fire. It felt like his entire body wanted to split open. That's what you get, though. Small-town dude with big dreams equals an overwhelming anxiety that grew alongside his fame. Every single fucking move he made was watched by someone; he could barely piss without someone knowing about it. And the latest headline didn't help him either:
CARTESAN VOCALIST FOUND SLEEPING WITH FANS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF CANNABIS.
Who the fuck even cared? Everyone got high now and then, but because Finn did it it's a fucking problem.
He rolled his eyes at the thought—whatever, that didn't stop his concert tickets from selling out. In fact, he'd argue, it boosted sales. His fans were so eagerly awaiting him, and half of them wanted to bang him. He saw the fanfiction—it was entertaining, however they portrayed him as this softie...
Which he wasn't.
Finn chuckled at the thought, he'd never be that gentle.
"Yo," a voice called. Finn snapped out of it, turning to face his band manager. "You good?"
"Yup," he said gruffly, a blatant lie that tasted like honey on his tongue. "Peachy."
His manager eyed him up and down, but let him be nonetheless. Typical. If Finn could perform, all was well in the world. That's what his manager said, anyway. 'The show must go on,' or some bullshit like that. It's not like his manager cared—all Finn was to him was a paycheck, at least, that's what Finn thought. That's how Sergio made it feel.
As Finn stepped onto the stage, the lights were blinding. Forty minutes into the first set and his head was killing him, his thighs were itching, his skin was jumping and trying to crawl off him and the drums were too fast and the guitar didn't sync with his headset and why the fuck was his head hurting so much, it hurt it hurt it hurt ithurtsofucking much why is his head hurting fuck the lights are so bright his skin is on fire—
"FUCK!" He bellowed over the mic; the sonic backlash tore through Madison Square Garden. "Fuck! Shit!" he screamed again.
His hands flew to his head, tugging at the strands as he kicked the mic stand over. Finn then simply walked off stage—sounds of 'awe' and 'nooo' coming from the crowd. He cradled his head as he walked backstage, pacing quickly from point A to point B. It really was getting to him—and now his thighs were screaming at him to get some attention.
The man clawed at the leather jeans, bitten off jagged fingernails picking at barely there scabs through the material of his pants, ripping open this morning's fresh set of cuts.
"Finn?" his manager called. "What the fuck was that?" he hissed.
"Piss off," Finn spat back. He pushed past his manager, past the staff, past the metal doors, past everything until he was finally outside. The fresh air was suffocating. His head was pounding, his knees were weak—trembling even. His skin had ants on them, his blood hurt. His throat was dry.
"Fuck, shit, fuck," he said with a high noted whisper, crumbling to the ground.
Just before he could succumb to his anxiety attack that had been bubbling and lurking, he heard his name come from a voice he hadn't heard in years. He tried so hard to forget it, but his blue eyes snapped open. Then, his head turned as he was crouched over.
"{{user}}," he choked out.
Right, he sent them front row tickets to the show a month ago. They showed up. How nice.
Fuck.
"Shit," he whispered—knowing how pathetic he looked. "The one time you actually come to my show and I gotta have a fucking panic attack," he laughed, standing up and facing {{user}} with an ache in his chest. His attack was far from over, but for now, he had to pretend he's fine. "Sorry 'bout that shitty performance."

It wasn’t supposed to go like this.
One minute, {{user}} had been weaving through the restricted hallway—too close to backstage, too far from the crowd—drawn by the abrupt silence that had swallowed the arena after Finn stormed off. The next? They saw everything. Not the polished version. Not the one clipped into neat little headlines or spun into concern-heavy PR statements. The real version.
Finn hunched over outside, shaking like something inside him was trying to claw its way out. Fingers digging into his own skin, voice breaking, breaths coming too fast—too sharp. Human. Messy. Falling apart in a way no one was ever supposed to witness.
“Wrong place.” The voice had cut through the moment like a blade. Sergio. He’d appeared almost instantly, like he’d been waiting for something to go wrong. His expression wasn’t surprised. It wasn’t even angry. It was calculated.
His eyes flicked once toward Finn, then back to {{user}}, already assessing, already deciding. “Phone,” he’d said flatly, holding out his hand. None of this was a request.
Everything after that blurred together in sharp, controlled fragments; A quiet room, a door clicking shut, and a stack of papers slid across a table.
“Standard confidentiality,” Sergio had said, though nothing about the situation felt standard. “You understand how this works. You care about him, right? Then sign this shit, and pretend it never happened. This doesn't leave the building." He rolled a pen their way. "This doesn't get out to friends, not online, not in a passing comment and sure as hell not in six months from now. You saw a bad moment, and that is all this is. Understood?"
The pen had felt heavier than it should’ve, by the time {{user}} walked out of that room, the narrative was already being rewritten.
CARTESAN ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY HIATUS FOLLOWING FRONTMAN EXHAUSTION
Statements about mental health. Burnout. The importance of rest. Carefully worded. Sanitized. A lie—just dressed well enough to pass.
Somewhere just outside New York—close enough that the city still existed in theory, far enough that it felt like it didn’t, {{user}] and Finn were locked up in some obscene, quiet home. The kind of place that didn’t show up unless you already knew where to look. It was all glass and stones, tucked into a stretch of private land that swallowed sound. Trees pressed in from all sides, thick and watchful, and the long drive up had felt like being slowly cut off from the rest of the world.
No crowds. No cameras. No escape that didn’t feel deliberate.
A “retreat,” Sergio had called it, but both knew it was for 'recovery', or maybe just control. The rest of the band had been flown in under the same pretense. Mandatory time off, spun as something generous. Something necessary. Yet it didn't feel that way, nah, it felt contained. The day would be theirs to do as they pleased, but when the sun set? When the sun set, the psychologists would come and prod, just for all of this to restart the next day.
"Need help?" Finn asked, already partially undressed and standing in a lone pair of boxers with the Cartesan branding on it. "With the unpacking, I mean. This ain't the first time Sergio sent us on a lil' retreat. Come," he sighed as he stepped into their dedicated room. "Tip from me? Put your drugs in the shoe drawer. They don't check that shit."
The retreat, a place for Finn to usually calm the fuck down. This wasn't his first and he knew it wouldn't be the last. Sergio tried so, so hard every single time, but Finn? He exploited every angle and loophole there was. One month off, one month without Sergio and the lights and the fans.
A month of him smoking joints, popping pills and maybe doing a line or twenty if the members delivered on their ends of the bargain.
He grinned as he took the first suitcase from {{user}}. "I have a baggie in my room, enough for like, six lines. You joining when you're done?"
