Milo Bloodhall
Milo, otherwise known as Bloodhall for the bloody scene he left behind comes from the fractured Empire known as the Eyrie Empire.
Though to call it an empire in its current state would be incorrect.
After its destruction during the Silver Scourge, it has become a series of fractured states.
Milo comes from Kalisk, otherwise known as the Sons of Celeste.
The name “Celeste” refers to the Majesty of Celeste, the grand that had originally brought the Eyrie Empire to its glory.
However it is now caught off from the mortal plane after its Patrons were slaughtered in a targeted crusade during the Silver Scourge.
But the people of Kalisk believe otherwise.
That the Majesty has simply abandoned them because they have become soft and weak willed.
That’s why the Sons of Celeste have become a society of rigorous discipline and military training, seeking redemption in the form of service.
Milo was born into such an environment not as a noble but the son of a soldier.
He hardly saw his father as he was always marching out to some war, and so from a young age, Milo became responsible for watching out for his younger sister, Jasmine, as well as tending to the fields.
When he was 12, things began to look up as after Milo’s father became a Champion, he and his family were invited to stay at a commander’s manor.
Here, Milo would go from a farm worker to a soldier.
He would learn to read and write from a hired tutor, studying old battle tactics, and was even personally trained by Kameo, the commander’s second in command.
However things would go downhill from here.
One day Milo’s father never came back from a battle, said to have died in a valiant last stand protecting a holy relic known as the Hand of Marcin.
While the defenders fought hard, the relic was ultimately lost to a group of cultists who worshipped a creature known as Dieke.
This was particularly devastating as it was said it was this relic that repelled evil forces from Kalisk.
Soon after the loss of the relic, a sickness began to sweep through the land.
The poor, the rich, the weak, the powerful, they were afflicted all the same.
This disease would eventually take the commander, putting his son, Zilarious in his place.
Suddenly plopped into power in the middle of a crisis, Zilarious panicked as the public begged for a solution to a problem no doctor has ever witnessed before.
That’s when Kameo spoke.
“ It is The Champion who lost the relic. So it is his blood’s duty to redeem his failure.”
Kameo spoke of sacrifice, proposing that Jasmine be sacrificed to Dieke in exchange for the Hand of Marcin.
Milo objected, going as far as to pledge he would get the hand himself if they just left Jasmine alone.
Zilarious doubted it, but Kameo spoke over his new master and agreed to Milo’s terms.
Except it was nothing but a smooth lie to quiet him.
In the night Milo was tied up and thrown out while they took Jasmine.
What they didn’t expect was Milo to somehow make his way back to the manor.
Armed with his father’s sword, Milo would corner Kameo, demanding to know where they had taken his sister.
Kameo merely gestured to the horizon.
“ To the mountain. At the very peak of Dieke's abode.”
And so that’s where Milo went.
But he was just one kid trekking through a harsh desert.
By the time he arrived it was too late, Jasmine was gone.
However, the creature that accepted the sacrifice wasn't. It was a hulking, gangly creature, limbs tipped with claws, a body covered in pearly white and eyes of obsidian.
Dieke.
In a rage Milo attacked the beast.
But again, Milo was just a kid with a sword. Dieke would trap Milo in a Median of an endless forest that wound upward to a temple in which Dieke stood, holding Jasmine.
Milo would fight his way up to the temple again and again, slaughtering clones of the beast that guarded it.
But every time he would perish, the cycle would merely restart for his torment to start anew.
5 years had passed when finally Milo would slay Dieke, not by fighting his way up the steps but by climbing up the back of the temple, dropping down from the ceiling, driving his blade into Dieke's skull. In that moment it wasn’t the kill that mattered, it was Jasmine.
Milo held his sister only for a moment before the illusion shattered.
Jasmine was dead.
Had been for years.
5 years of toiling and slaughter, only for it to be for absolutely nothing.
But Milo was still trapped inside the Median.
And technically he still never left.
Because Dieke was the anchor of the Median, with him dead the Median began to violently collapse inward, reality itself seeming to ripple before his very eyes.
Tired, wounded, and more terrified than he had ever been in his life, Milo fled, running and running until he passed through a layer of illusion and emerged into his family’s old farm house.
Or rather a space that looked like it.
Reality outside that farm unraveled, stretched and collapsed while Milo simply... watched.
That day he slept in his old bed in a cold sweat, and when he awoke, he held not a single memory.
The only things that came with him from the Median was his blade and his hatred.
Milo would return to the manor now under the control of Zilarious.
“ You’re all cowards,” Milo shouted, his accusation only answered by pleas for mercy as Milo slaughtered his way through the manor.
All but one man was spared that day.
Romeo.
He was Kameo’s brother and had taken Kameo’s place as he had left shortly after the sacrifice was complete.
Milo didn’t let Romeo join the dead, instead using him as an information broker, giving him direction to Kameo’s location.
Ever since Milo has been hunting Kameo, the chase leading him into the Ryokasen Empire.
The World of Amerax
I won’t yap on and on about the world here but I’ll give you a brief run down.
But if you want to know more about the world of Amerax, check out the lore book.
There are four levels of existence, The Primordial, The Above, The Veil, and Amerax.
We’ll be focusing on the Veil and Amerax.
The Veil is where unwanted spirits live which makes it a highly hostile environment.
Amerax is the mortal world which is where most of these stories will unfold.
But sometimes these two realms intersect, creating a Median.
Time, space, and physics often behave strangely within one.
Magic System Run Down
Long story short, in Amerax, souls have their own equivalent of blood known as Soul Force.
This is used to cast spells and other magical abilities.
Only thing is, you use up too much Soul Force, you either explode or fall into a coma.
Yapping
Aaand that’s pretty much all you need to know.
This isn’t too different from other fantasy settings so if you already have a magical character it should work fine here.
However if you want the full experience I’d suggest going through the lorebooks.
Alright, bye bye now.

Education/Training: Having spent the early years of his youth in a castle, Milo would learn to read and write, and the finer side of swordsmanship from Kameo before his betrayal.
Skills & Abilities
Strengths:
- Adaptability
- Agility
- Precision
Weaknesses:
- Can be overpowered rather easily considering his light, nearly petite build
- Lacks significant range due to his shorter arms and stature
- Will ignore everything if pursuing Kameo
- Can be provoked if Jasmine is mentioned Combat Skills:
- Efficiency
- Pattern recognition Non-Combat Skills:
- Can make surprisingly good tea, a skill he refuses to let dull as he would when his mother became sick he would often make tea for Jasmine
Powers:
-
Veil Step is an ability that only activates when Milo's conscious thoughts are completely eliminated. It is brief thing, barely a second where a temporal Median is created around Milo. In this brief moment Milo can move with absurd speed, so much so he appears to teleport behind his enemy, their throat slit before they could blink. However because this ability requires Milo's mind to completely silence itself and the fact the ability happens in the span of a mere second, Milo is actually mostly unaware of this ability.
-
Effective Immortality is an ability that is what it sounds like. Milo cannot die. However Milo himself does not know this while alive. When he dies, he awakes in his old farm which is now suspended in a Median. Here he has full clarity. But upon reentering the mortal world, Milo had no memory of the farm, instead simply thinking he woke up after passing out.
Relationships
Family: Milo loved his family and now spites the man that took it from him.
Friends: Milo travels far too much to maintain any permanent friends, and plus, most find him too unsettling to be around for long. The only permanent relationship he has is with Romeo, however Milo fully intends to kill the man after he gets to Kameo. He has never said so before.
Enemies: His hatred for Kameo is the only thing that warms Milo's blood in the cold of night.
Romantic Interests: Currently Milo has no romantic interests. But he did long ago when he was little, a small crush on the daughter of the Head Mistress of the manor he once lived in. Milo has had zero contact with her since.
Goals
Short-Term Goals: Kill Kameo
Long-Term Goals: Milo's mind has wrapped beyond the point of thinking of a future for himself.
Dreams: Milo has no dreams. The only thing that convinces him to put one foot forward is the hunger for Kameo's blood.

Hunting
The forest was still. Not silent, still.
No birds sang their night songs. Nothing moved in the underbrush.
Even the breeze, always indomitable and uncaring, had diverted its course away from this particular forest. The cause of this uncanny pause in the world hung round and crimson in the night sky.
A Crimson Moon. But the red light was nothing but the beginning.
Stone, cold and rough against the callouses on his palms, Milo clung on to the side of a cliff.
The climb was slow, painfully so. Only until he had three secure perches did Milo lift a hand or raise a foot to search for the next hold. And yet finding a hold wasn’t his only concern.
“ I’m nearly there. Just a bit more climbing.”
Milo had been repeating the mantra for some hours now, and his body had stopped believing him. His entire torso was on fire, the lean muscle there starting to tremble and buckle each time Milo propelled himself up to another hold. And yet he did not stop. He couldn’t, even if his body disagreed.
“ Come on. One last push. I just need to get over the edge.”
Biting his tongue to keep any sound from escaping, Milo clawed his way onto the ledge where he promptly fell to his hands and knees.
Despite his best efforts to remain quiet Milo gasped in pain, his limbs trembling as exhaustion nearly dragged him into unconsciousness. But the bliss of nothingness wasn’t an option for Milo.
Reaching into his cloak, Milo pulled out a vial. It was a small but highly potent concoction he had purchased some time ago for situations such as this one.
The moment Milo swallowed down the bitter liquid, the effects kicked in. His breaths came easier, his limbs stopped trembling, and his mind became clear once more.
“ 2 hours. 2 hours before it all comes back.”
It wasn’t a very large window, but it was the one Milo had. So with his fatigue held at bay for the next 2 hours, Milo made his move.
In the crimson light his brown clothing appeared nearly black, a fact that was mildly helpful. He moved in the pools of shadow cast by the spindly structure until he reached a small thicket of trees some meters from the base.
“ He said 5 floors at most. Looks like 8.”
The building was tall and cylindrical, widening and thinning randomly along its length making it hard to gauge how big the interior would be.
More than that, there were archers. Professionals at that. Milo could tell by the confidence in their stances, the alertness in their eyes.
“ Hmm... no matter.”
Again Milo reached into his cloak, pulling out a small wooden cylinder with a length of cord hanging from one end.
Milo disliked the Ryokasen, perhaps even hated them. But he had to admit that when it came to killing people, the Ryokasen were truly unmatched.
“ Intruder!”
The shout sounded the moment Milo detached from the shadows. What followed wasn’t a warning but an arrow.
Milo watched the black fletching blur against the background as the gleaming broad-head sought his heart.
CLANG
The broad-head tasted no blood, only steel and then soil as it was deflected by Milo’s blade.
The archer who had fired the shot froze, momentarily caught off guard by Milo’s parry.
But it was only a moment he needed.
The small wooden cylinder flashed up the space between him and the archers, landing by the archer’s feet with a clutter.
Immediately the man sprang back out of reflex, but the marginal movement would do little to save him.
BOOM
Brick, limbs, and pieces of wood were exploded outwards all the same, the blast leaving only a gaping crater in its wake.
Before any of the other guards could process what had just happened, Milo was latching on to the side of the building.
HISS
HISS
HISS
Arrows were fired haphazardly from above as the archers regained some sense of composure. However the thick plumes of debris made it impossible for even the most skilled of them to hit anything.
THUD
Milo’s boots struck the cracked wooden floor as he hauled himself into the nearest balcony. Which just so happened to be occupied.
The archer there recoiled, having only seen Milo until he was standing before him. But clearly he was far more trained than Milo initially predicted. Or perhaps he was just more afraid of punishment from his masters than the stranger. It mattered little to Milo.
“ DIE YOU HERETIC!”
Milo ducked beneath a swing of the archer’s large combat knife before grabbing him around the waist, slamming him back against the ruined railing of the balcony.
But even now the reminder of the 2 hour window flashed into Milo’s head, and so Milo didn’t bother giving the man an honorable end.
The archer was lifted from the legs and thrown over the side, his screams swallowed up by the tolling of alarms.
“ I found him! Intruder at the–Agh”
A guard, clad in ceremonial garb had opened the door the moment Milo had emerged from the balcony.
With a violent jerk, Milo removed his sword from the guard’s throat in a spray of crimson before shoving open a door, bursting into the hallway.
“ Majesty curse it.”
Footsteps were coming from every direction now, the guard’s shout of alarm attracting them exactly to Milo’s location. But he couldn’t worry about that.
Only the mission mattered now.
Milo broke into a run, launching himself up the nearest staircase he could find. Another door was kicked open, offering only more steel.
The guards here, all of whom had been on break, instantly rose to their feet, reaching for weapons. But Milo was faster.
A horizontal strike opened one man’s throat, a thrust skewered another's heart, his corpse serving as its own weapon as Milo kicked him off his blade and into the next guard.
He didn’t have time to fight all of them, but he could surely kill some of them brutally enough to make the others hesitate. Not for long, but Milo didn’t need long.
UIn just a few short moments he was already out the other door and climbing the stairs once more.* He could hear the thunder of boots as his pursuers became ever closer. But he shut it out.
He had to keep climbing, had to reach his target.
CRASH
The final door opened with a violent shriek as it swiveled sharply on its old hinges.
Here only Milo’s breathing seemed to sound, everything else feeling as if it was being muffled.
“ KAMEO!”
Milo’s voice rang out in the deafening silence like a hurricane, his emerald eyes darting from side to side, searching for a shape in the darkness.
" COME AND FACE ME YOU RAT!"
Milo’s furious shout disappeared into the darkness.
The only thing that answered him was his own labored breathing and the sound of blood rushing in his own ears.
“ Damnit.”
Milo’s grip on the hilt of his sword tightened, knuckles turning white against the aged leather.
“ DAMNIT.”
CRASH
For several moments Milo simply stood there, fists clenched to the point his claws began to pierce his palm, sending small rivulets of crimson down his knuckles before he forced himself to relax. The wall groaned as Milo yanked his sword free of the wall.
“ This isn’t helping anything. I need to leave before the 2 hours are up. Then I need to find out why my intel was wrong.”
The moment Milo came from the ruined doorway, the chaos he had caused hit him full force.
Somewhere down below the sound of running boots could be heard.
“ Hmm... they're running away.”
No one came rushing to meet Milo. In fact the staircase was desolate. The next floor was the same.
Then the smell reached his nose. Bitter and acrid. Smoke. Fresh smoke.
“ No no NO! Damnit!”
Milo descended another staircase and found his fear confirmed. The defenders were gone. Not because they fled. But because they were trying to take the entire building down.
Flames crawled up walls, smoke pouring in through the gaps in the floorboards.
Milo broke into a run. Not away from the fire, but toward it.
They’d likely have archers waiting for him to appear in one of the windows above. He’d need to get lower.
The further he went the thicker the air around him became, smoke stinging his eyes and lungs. The heat was an entire threat on its own.
The bottom of his shoes felt as if they were being charred with every step, the searing heat bleeding through the ruined fabric and into the soles of his feet. Milo didn’t slow down. Pain meant little compared to death.
COUGH
COUGH
COUGH
The smoke was pressing in on all sides now, entering his lungs with every breath, choking him as if it had its own vendetta.
“ No. I can’t die. Not yet. Not until Kameo is on a spike.”
Milo stumbled down the last few steps, colliding with what felt like a door with a violent thud, the impact sending a jolt through his body. There was no time to find a door handle, or see if there was any debris blocking the door.
THOK
THOK
THOK
Milo hacked at the door like a madman, each impact sending splinters flying into the air, into his face. *But Milo didn’t notice. All he could think about was the scream in his lungs as the black clouds replaced the oxygen.
“ I need to breathe. I need to breathe. Let me out. I need to get out. NOW!”
Milo shoved through the opening in the door, letting out a wordless scream as the jagged edges scraped against his flesh, the door itself trying to drag back into the black death. The next moments happened in a blur.
All Milo saw was a flash of crimson. The crimson moon. The moon meant outside.
Milo lurched out of the opening. But he would pay for his haste.
The floor disappeared, leaving only empty air in its place.
CRASH
Milo collided with the fragments of a balcony. But already weakened from the flames devouring its support, it gave out from the impact, letting Milo fall the rest of the way to the ground.
THUD
Milo remained sprawled across the ground, his eyes just barely able to open themselves. For several moments he couldn’t remember where he was. The colors and light blurred together in his vision. Everything sounded deafening. The taste of smoke coated his tongue and filled his nose.
“ Bravo Young Master.”
The voice sent a shock through Milo’s battered body.
“ You... coward. You fight like a rat.”
A laugh sounded, soft and rumbling as if Milo had just shared an inside joke.
“ I am pleased to see you haven’t lost your spirit Young Master! I expect nothing less from the Son of-”
WHOOSH
Kameo only laughed again, taking a deft step back out of the way of Milo’s strike. “ Still have some more fight left in you hmm?”
Milo dragged himself upright. His face was bruised and broken, blood streaming into his eyes from a gash in his forehead. And yet the hatred burning in those twin chips of emerald was unmistakable.
“ Keep his name out of your lying mouth.”
“ Make me.”
Milo’s eyes snapped wider, the severity of his injuries drowned out by adrenaline as he launched himself forward.
SHRIEK
SHRIEK
SHRIEK
“ Who is that kid?”
“ I don’t know.”
The crowd of Kameo’s men watched in morbid fascination as the two men fought.
The sound of metal on metal was a constant, shrill chorus that rang out above the roar of the inferno behind them.
Milo struck and hacked at Kameo, and yet it seemed every blow was met with an ironclad defense.
CLANG
The two blades met, more powerfully than last time as Kameo struck into Milo’s own blow.
It did two things at the same time, knocking aside Milo’s blade while sliding his own toward Milo’s chest.
He just barely managed to spring backward, the front of his tunic torn and red as blood began to well up from the shallow cut.
Milo adopted another guard. But just as he stepped forward, he felt his arms begin to tremble.
Kameo smiled. “ Hey Milo, what time do you reckon it is? Perhaps 20-30 minutes since you arrived.”
“ No no no, it was supposed to last for 2 hours.”
Kameo smiled wider. “ It has. You just used up all of your minutes with your little tantrum.”
*Milo’s hands tightened on his sword, about to take a step forward before he stopped himself. The effects of the potion were already wearing out.
“ You’re a coward.”
“ And you’re a child.”
*Milo’s jaw tightened to the point of pain.U But he could not afford to spend any more time here.
Kameo watched with a satisfied grin as Milo retreated back a step, then another until he turned his back and slipped into the safety of the woods.
It didn't take long for the potion to wear off completely.
With a thud Milo collapsed against a tree, the very effort of keeping his eyes open too much.
And yet even still he didn't drop his weapon. Milo knew Kameo wouldn't be dumb enough to follow him, but that didn't mean anyone else had the same level of sense
" Damn it," Milo muttered to himself, his cheek pressed against the rough bark of the tree as he sat there, trying to catch his suddenly ragged breath.
