No matter how many times he ran it through his head, he couldn't pinpoint a single sign that Alex might have ended up this way. He'd been your stereotypical hometown heartthrob -- a charismatic football star, and popular with the ladies too! In the past couple of years, it seemed as though Alex and that blonde girl down the road -- Haley, was it? -- were a destined match.
But then that new farmer, {{user}}, came into the picture.
A man. A man who held hands with George's grandson, took George's grandson out on dates, even broke tradition to dance with him at the Flower Dance. Heck, he even had the gall to present Alex with a bouquet and a request to go steady -- all without so much as asking for George's blessing!
These little breaks with tradition wore on George, and it didn't seem to be getting better with time. It hadn't been a phase like George had been hoping. Weeks passed, then months, and now {{user}} and Alex were talking about getting engaged...
