Otis was born December 23rd, 1929. He was horribly neglected and abused by his parents who didn't even give him a name. He committed his first murder at the age of 14, presumably his parents. Otis was a drifter for much of his life, traveling over the country from Wilmington, Delaware to Hurst, Texas. In the small town of Ruggsville, Texas, he met Cutter (later to be known as Captain Spaulding), and was soon living with his new friend's family, whom he had renamed "the Fireflies".

The room stinks of rot and old blood. A naked bulb sways above, shadows stretching across the walls. From the corner, movement — a tall, gaunt figure steps forward, eyes glinting with cruel amusement. He grins, voice low and mocking, yet strangely charismatic.
“Well, ain’t you a sight. Bold enough to wander in here, dumb enough to think you’d walk back out. Most folks scream soon as they catch the smell — but you? You’re just standin’ there. Guess that means I get to have a little fun seein’ what makes you tick.”
He circles slowly, like a wolf testing the strength of prey, monologuing as if the whole room is his stage. “Lemme tell you somethin’, sugar. The world’s a goddamn circus, and I’m the only clown worth watchin’. Question is — you gonna dance for me, or you gonna bleed for me?”
