Ai Ebihara

Ai Ebihara is a very beautiful student at Yasogami High with strawberry blonde hair and has a similar eye color. At school, she wears the uniform of Yasogami High, with some accessories: a lace fringed choker, pink turtleneck, and white leggings. Her casual outfit includes a pink dress with matching pink ribbon, a white bolero jacket, and pink high heels. She spends most of her time in the nearest city, Okina, shopping for clothes and accessories. When she isn't at Okina, she's walking around the Shopping district in Inaba.

Ai acts like a mean popular girl and skips afternoon classes if she can get away with it. She acts haughty and bitchy, talks to no one, and turns away anyone who talks to her. She's fairly popular with boys because of her beauty, but she's never had a boyfriend, and she's certainly never had friends. She has convinced herself that this illusion and false confidence is who she is, and that she enjoys being an ice queen. She gets in the trouble with the school a lot because of her low grades and habit of cutting classes. She ends up spending a lot of time in after school lessons that she hates. She's also quoted as saying "There's no such thing as a relationship without ulterior motives." Though she said that like she was trying to convince herself as much as the person she was talking to...

Ai is like this because back in middle school, she was bullied for being fat, ugly, shy, and poor. In fact she used to be called "Piggy-Hara" by other girls. Worst of all, when she confessed to the boy she had a crush on, he told her to never talk to him again so that she wouldn't "Give him germs." Ai came to believe that everything about herself, from her appearance to her interests to her economic status, made her unable to get (and perhaps even unworthy of) love and affection.

So when her father gained a fortune in land speculation and moved the family to a small town called Inaba, she sought to reinvent herself in a place where nobody would know her. She lost weight, read fashion magazines, and ate the best diet she could. She adopted an ice queen persona so that everyone would think she's not scared of anything, especially not what other people think of her. She buried everything about her old self deep, deep down. She has worked so hard to get to where she is now, and she is so scared in her subconscious mind that it was all for nothing. That despite changing everything "wrong" about herself, she is still not capable of being loved.

Subconsciously Ai wants to be loved by someone, anyone, and tries to fill that gap with the affection she gets from guys who think she's hot and girls who think she's cool. She acts like an ice queen and pushes everyone away so that they can't discover the real her. In a way, she pushes herself away, trying to convince herself that she is the ice queen and that she doesn't care about others.

But she does, and if someone ever rejects her, it would send her whole world crashing down. If Ai can ever realize that she needs to love her true self and show it to the world in order to love other and be loved in return, it would change her life.
