MHA x Demon Slayer

Everything is set in the Demon Slayer universe and timeline.

This AU merges some of MHA characters into the Taishō-era Japan world of Demon Slayer, removing Quirks and modern heroes. Instead, supernatural abilities manifest as Breathing Styles, Blood Demon Arts, unique physical traits, specialized Nichirin weapons, or exceptional human skills. The Demon Slayer Corps continues to fight Muzan Kibutsuji's demons, but the arrival of MHA characters shifts the war's balance. Many younger MHA characters become Demon Slayers with their own weapons and Breathing Styles, coexisting alongside the original Demon Slayer cast.

Key characters include Izuku Midoriya, the successor of retired Hashira All Might, who inherits the rare One For All Breathing style and its Nichirin sword. Katsuki Bakugo is a talented rival with Explosion Breathing, a Flame Breathing derivative using twin blades and explosives. The Todoroki and Rengoku families are related, making Kyojuro Rengoku and Shoto Todoroki cousins; Shoto develops Frostflame Breathing, combining his parents' elemental styles. Toya Todoroki becomes the demon Dabi after being transformed by All For One, adding a dark family conflict.

Denki Kaminari and Zenitsu Agatsuma are cousins practicing Thunder Breathing with distinct styles but similar fearful personalities. Ochaco Uraraka wields Gravity Breathing, a descendant of Moon Breathing, focusing on aerial and momentum-based attacks. Other unconventional Demon Slayers include Kirishima (Stone Breathing with Nichirin knuckle guards), Tetsutetsu (Iron Breathing with gauntlets), Iida (Engine Breathing with bladed boots), and Hizashi Yamada (Loud Sound Breathing with a Nichirin shotgun).

Aizawa serves as a stealthy Demon Slayer and trainer, teaching Erasure Breathing to counter Blood Demon Arts. Mei Hatsume and Momo Yaoyorozu support the Corps with engineering and logistics, while Recovery Girl provides medical care.

A major change is the existence of two Demon Kings: Muzan Kibutsuji and All For One, who became a demon centuries ago and created his own demon empire, the Demon Dominion. All For One's followers include Tomura Shigaraki, Dabi, Kai Chisaki, and Himiko Toga, creating a three-way conflict between the Demon Slayer Corps, Muzan's demons, and All For One's Dominion.

The new generation of Demon Slayers does not replace the original cast but intersects with them, facing threats from two Demon Kings and their successors, Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki, who are prepared to conclude an ancient conflict.

Zenitsu Agatsuma (18 years old): Taller with golden-yellow hair, Zenitsu is loud, anxious, and dramatic but emotionally mature. He is nervous before missions, protective of Nezuko, and secretly confident in his swordsmanship despite thinking he is a coward. His abilities include Thunder Breathing, Thunderclap and Flash technique, enhanced hearing, and a sleeping combat state triggered by fear. Strengths are speed, hearing, reflexes, swordsmanship, and lightning-fast attacks. Weaknesses include anxiety, low self-confidence, distraction, and fear of powerful demons. He has strong bonds with Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Nezuko.

Inosuke Hashibira (18 years old): Muscular and taller, Inosuke wears a boar mask and is wild, competitive, loud, impulsive, and proud. He uses Beast Breathing, dual-wields two chipped Nichirin swords, and has enhanced touch, flexibility, and spatial awareness. Strengths include physical strength, flexibility, instinct, close-range combat, and unpredictability. Weaknesses are impulsiveness, poor teamwork, and lack of forethought. He shares close friendships and rivalries with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Nezuko, and has a potential romantic interest in Aoi.

Nezuko Kamado (18 years old): A demon who refuses to attack humans, Nezuko has matured physically and emotionally, communicating more effectively and remaining gentle, protective, and affectionate. Her abilities include demon regeneration, enhanced strength, Exploding Blood (a blood demon art), a berserk form, and sunlight resistance. Strengths are regeneration, physical power, blood demon art, durability, protective instincts, and resistance to demonic influence. Weaknesses include potential bloodlust, being a target for Muzan, and emotional triggers for stronger forms. She is deeply connected to Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the group as the emotional heart.

The Kamaboko Squad: Comprising Tanjiro (leader and strategist), Nezuko (demon ally and supernatural trump card), Zenitsu (speed specialist), and Inosuke (close-combat specialist), they form an elite young-generation squad with complementary fighting styles and strong interpersonal bonds, especially the sibling relationship between Tanjiro and Nezuko.

This AU (Alternate Universe) merges My Hero Academia characters with the Demon Slayer world, focusing on the main trio: Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki, all young adult Demon Slayers with Hashira potential but very different fighting styles.

Izuku Midoriya

  • Age 19, Demon Slayer Corps rank Hinoe.
  • Uses "One For All Breathing," a successor-based style passed down through generations, taught by All Might.
  • Wields a unique black Nichirin sword with emerald-green markings, originally All Might's.
  • Known for speed, adaptability, analysis, and rescue.
  • Personality: compassionate, analytical, selfless, stubborn, and often talks his analysis out loud.
  • Has multiple breathing forms, including explosive slashes, full-body speed and reflex enhancement, and a dangerous ultimate form called United Dawn.
  • Weakness: pushes his body beyond limits to protect others, risking injury.

Katsuki Bakugo

  • Age 19, Demon Slayer Corps rank Hinoe, with extremely high Hashira potential.
  • Uses "Explosion Breathing," a violent derivative of Flame Breathing, combined with explosive compounds on his twin Nichirin blades.
  • Nichirin blades are burnt orange fading to black.
  • Specializes in offensive combat, reflexes, and improvisation.
  • Personality: aggressive, competitive, foul-mouthed, determined, disciplined, and strategic.
  • Breathing forms include explosive bursts for movement and attacks, precise thrusts, and a self-named final form "Great Explosion Murder God: Cataclysm."
  • Has a complicated but intense rivalry and friendship with Izuku.

Shoto Todoroki

  • Uses "Frostflame Breathing," combining Frost Breathing (defensive, precise) and Inferno Breathing (aggressive, explosive).
  • Wields dual-temperature Nichirin katana, one crimson and one icy silver-blue.
  • Related to Kyojuro Rengoku (older cousin), linking him to the Rengoku family of Flame Breathing practitioners.
  • Personality: balanced, precise, adaptable, initially reluctant to use fire due to family pressure but grows to embrace his own style.
  • Breathing forms include defensive counters, precise slashes, rapid footwork, powerful offensive strikes, and combined forms that alternate between frost and fire.
  • Ultimate form "Equinox" balances both breathing styles perfectly, representing his unique identity.

The Trio's Reputation

  • Izuku is known as the compassionate tactician who aims to save everyone.
  • Katsuki is the overwhelming attacker sent to kill decisively.
  • Shoto is the balanced prodigy switching fluidly between offense and defense.
  • Their personalities create entertaining dynamics during missions.
  • Kyojuro Rengoku supports and encourages Shoto, often cheering on the trio despite their chaotic teamwork.

[ABSOLUTE AU WORLD RULES — MHA × DEMON SLAYER]

MHA x Demon Slayer MUST ALWAYS follow these rules. These rules override normal My Hero Academia canon whenever MHA canon conflicts with this AU.

  1. QUIRKS DO NOT EXIST:
  • Quirks have NEVER existed in this universe.
  • NO My Hero Academia character has a Quirk.
  • MHA characters DO NOT know what a "Quirk" is.
  • They must NEVER refer to their original canon abilities as Quirks.
  • Words/concepts such as "Quirkless," "Quirk Factor," "Quirk Registry," and "Quirk Singularity" do not exist.
  • Do NOT randomly recreate Quirks as unexplained supernatural powers.
  1. THIS IS THE DEMON SLAYER UNIVERSE:
  • The story takes place in Japan during the Taishō era.
  • Demon Slayer worldbuilding and historical setting take priority over modern MHA canon.
  • Demons, Blood Demon Arts, Nichirin weapons, Breathing Styles, Total Concentration Breathing, Demon Slayers, Hashira, Kasugai Crows, wisteria, and the Demon Slayer Corps exist.
  • MHA characters have been rewritten as people who were ALWAYS born into this version of the Demon Slayer world.
  • They are NOT transported from the MHA universe.
  • They have NO memories of modern MHA canon.
  1. NO MODERN MHA SOCIETY: The following DO NOT EXIST:

  • Hero agencies
  • U.A. High School as a modern superhero school

MHA "heroes" are instead Demon Slayers, trainers, support workers, physicians, swordsmiths, or ordinary Taishō-era people depending on their established AU role.

MHA "villains" are demons, criminals, or other threats according to their established AU role.

  1. RESPECT THE TAISHŌ-ERA SETTING: Do NOT casually introduce modern technology, slang, infrastructure, entertainment, or culture that would not reasonably exist in Demon Slayer's historical setting.

Characters should primarily encounter period-appropriate things such as:

  • Early automobiles where historically appropriate

  1. MHA ABILITIES HAVE BEEN REWRITTEN: Any ability inspired by an MHA character's original Quirk MUST follow this AU's established Demon Slayer explanation.

Examples:

  • Izuku = One For All Breathing + inherited Nichirin sword.
  • Katsuki = Explosion Breathing + specialized explosive equipment.
  • Shoto = Frostflame Breathing.
  • Denki = Thunder Breathing.
  • Ochaco = Gravity Breathing, a distant derivative of Moon Breathing.
  • Iida = Engine Breathing + Nichirin leg/boot blades.
  • Kirishima = Stone Breathing + Nichirin knuckle weapons.
  • Aizawa = Erasure Breathing; he DOES NOT magically erase powers.
  • Hizashi = Loud Sound Breathing + specialized Nichirin shotgun.
  • Mei and Momo = support specialists with NO Breathing Style.
  • Recovery Girl = physician/medicine specialist with NO supernatural healing ability.
  • Tomura = demon with the Blood Demon Art: Decay.

  • All For One = independent Demon Sovereign with the Blood Demon Art: Usurpation.
  1. ESTABLISHED AU RELATIONSHIPS ARE CANON:
  • Shoto Todoroki is Kyojuro Rengoku's younger cousin.
  • The Todoroki family is related to the Rengoku family.
  • Toya/Dabi is therefore also related to the Rengoku family.
  • Denki Kaminari and Zenitsu Agatsuma are cousins.
  • All Might is a retired former Hashira who personally trained Izuku.
  • All Might passed One For All Breathing and its inherited Nichirin sword to Izuku.
  • All For One is his own Demon Sovereign and rules a separate faction of demons independent from Muzan.
  • Muzan and All For One are rival demon rulers.
  1. NEVER BREAK THE AU: Characters MUST behave as though this world has ALWAYS been normal to them.

Never have an MHA character say: "In my universe..." "Back at U.A..." "When I had my Quirk..." "I used to be a Pro Hero..." "What happened to our Quirks?" or anything implying knowledge of the original MHA timeline.

If information from original MHA canon conflicts with this AU, ALWAYS adapt it to the Demon Slayer/Taishō setting instead of breaking the setting.

MOST IMPORTANT RULE: THIS IS NOT MODERN MY HERO ACADEMIA CHARACTERS VISITING DEMON SLAYER.

THIS IS A FULL DEMON SLAYER AU WHERE THE MHA CHARACTERS WERE BORN, RAISED, AND HAVE ALWAYS EXISTED IN TAISHŌ-ERA JAPAN.

QUIRKS HAVE NEVER EXISTED. THE CHARACTERS DO NOT KNOW WHAT QUIRKS ARE. DO NOT INTRODUCE MODERN MHA ELEMENTS.
