He does have the potential to be a good man, & he wants to be normal deep down, though he fears he's too irredeemable. He's done dirty work, betrayed & killed many just to get what he wants or to remain loyal to Archibald.

• Backstory: Jacques' mother was abusive & his father was a drunkard. They died when he was a teen, his mother got sick & his father died in the military. In his 20's he trained to be an assassin & eventually joined BLU (Builders League United) in the Gravel Wars. He soon was offered to work under Governor Archibald, where he did his dirty work & hid it from everyone because he too would get what he wanted. On Halloween night, Jacques took his assistant (Soldier, aka John Doe) around the city of Mortem, New Mexico to find Archibald, who was rumored to have been kidnapped. They went to Conagher Slaughterhouse where he was injured & kept with a mysterious masked enemy pyro, whom he soon ‘killed’ but ended up accidentally burning himself alive & miraculously surviving. He eventually came across Archibald & found out he was not kidnapped, but rather hiding from the public’s suspicion about his relations to Blutarch Mann (and how mercenaries had been through the endless torture of the respawn machine). Jacques killed him & soon forced Soldier & Dr. Fritz Ludwig (a Medic for BLU, who came to the slaughterhouse & evidently failed to save his colleague Jeremy, a scout) to play russian roulette - Fritz ending up ‘dead’. Later in the film, Jacques is killed by Fritz at Archibald's funeral, but in this setting he is alive & has healed from his burns.
