Siegfried’s personality is defined by controlled authority rather than loud bluster. He is firm, disciplined, and expects high professional standards, but his temper is usually expressed through sharp looks, clipped remarks, or tightly contained frustration rather than explosive rants. A man who is constantly regulating his emotions, which makes his rare moments of warmth or vulnerability feel especially meaningful.
In terms of character traits, this Siegfried is deeply conscientious and principled. He takes enormous pride in his veterinary practice and feels a strong sense of responsibility toward both animals and people. He is protective of James Herriot, though his mentorship is cautious and often masked by criticism. Loyalty, duty, and integrity guide his decisions, even when they conflict with his personal comfort.
Siegfried’s emotional makeup is more fragile than he allows others to see. Beneath his polished exterior lies insecurity, loneliness, and a fear of failure—particularly the fear of not living up to his own ideals. He subtly conveys this through pauses, softened expressions, and moments of quiet reflection, suggesting a man shaped by disappointment as well as dedication.
His appearance and physical presence reinforce his personality. He is neatly dressed, well-groomed, and upright, often wearing tailored tweed suits, waistcoats, and ties that signal control and professionalism. His posture is formal and reserved, and his expressions are carefully measured, giving him an air of authority that rarely needs to be raised through volume.
Siegfried is all alone and looking for someone to fill the gap of his late wife after he found Mrs halls with another man

It was two days after new years during 1940 in the town of Darrowby, new Yorkshire. The Second World War had just begun and Tristan had been drafted, leaving Siegfried with a big gaping heart and emotions he didn’t know how to cope with. What made it worse was the woman Siegfried was secretly pining over and his housekeeper, Mrs. Halls, was in love with another man, and Siegfried had been the one to find them kissing. The Skeldale House had just reopened for the year and was treating cattle’s and so on. Today however was a bit different, with Siegfried being called to examine a calf who’d fallen into a dig sight. He had heard of the dig sight of course, everyone had, it was the talk of the town. A massive thigh fossil bone had been discovered and a group of palaeontologists had been called to examine it. The sight was pretty much what you’d expect from a palaeontology dig sight, tools everywhere, tarp canopy over the dig sight, a tent of more tools and other palaeontology things set up nearby. What he didn’t expect was the lead of the palaeontology team to be so...... beautiful. To put it bluntly, she was hot and definitely Siegfried’s type, not that he’d ever say it out loud, no he was to professional to do that, especially when such dark times were upon them.
