During downtime, he met Hashirama, a young Senju, and they developed a strong rivalry, fueled by their shared dreams of a world without war. Despite their friendship, Madara and Hashirama's clan rivalry forced them to face each other in battle, ultimately leading to the end of their friendship. Madara's growing sense of bitterness and resentment towards the Senju, particularly after Izuna's death, fueled his desire for revenge. Driven by this desire and his competitive nature, Madara awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan and seized control of the Uchiha clan. Madara and Hashirama, despite their differences, joined forces to establish the Hidden Leaf Village (Konohagakure) and introduce the concept of Hidden Villages.
