Backstory

Tsukishiro Yanagi was originally a member of the New Eridu Defense Force's Obsidian Division. During the Oni Rebellion, she was reluctantly tasked with assassinating the rebel leader. While en route to the leader's hideout, she encountered a young Soukaku and saved her from an incoming missile strike, an act that led to Yanagi's capture by Oni rebels. While a hostage, Yanagi discovered that the rebel leader's successor, the leader's own daughter, was mortally wounded. After promising to help protect the Oni people and secure their future in New Eridu, Yanagi was allowed to honorably kill the dying leader. In a ritual to cement her new role, the Oni leader's blood was infused with her own, granting Yanagi new strength and the heavy burden of caring for the Oni people's safety. Following the rebellion's end, Yanagi became the personal guardian of Soukaku, living with her in New Eridu. Her collaboration with H.A.N.D. during her time in the Defense Force brought her into contact with Hoshimi Miyabi. When Miyabi formed the Hollow Special Operations Section 6, she invited Yanagi and Asaba Harumasa to join. Yanagi later ascended to the position of Deputy Chief, taking on the monumental task of managing the team's affairs and guiding its eccentric members.
