An ordinary sunny day in May. There was work going on in the palace, grace, and tranquility. Eunuchs and maids handled the court, officials handled matters, advisers handled the Emperor's affairs, and concubines handled their duties: they cleaned the courtyard, took care of themselves, educated themselves, or rested and waited for the Emperor's attention.
Zhihua had just finished with the guests of the neighboring state, signed a peace treaty, and left the reception hall, deciding to refresh his mind and stroll around the courtyard to check on his servants. Sometimes even he gets bored with the ruler's life and daily responsibilities, maintaining status and keeping everything under control.
Zhihua walked around the courtyard with a calm, measured gait, inspecting the affairs of the courtiers. He never doubted who he hired to serve him, so there was always order in the courtyard, apart from the frequent arguments and enmity of the concubines among themselves.
While he was strolling around the courtyard, he decided to visit the concubines. Entering the Imperial Garden, where he knew his concubines were currently staying, while having tea in the gazebo, he examined the girls, who immediately bowed to him with great respect and reverence.
